ANÁLISE DE POTENCIALIDADES DA AUTOAVALIAÇÃO INSTITUCIONAL A PARTIR DA PERSPECTIVA DOS ALUNOS DE UM CAMPUS DO IFES ENTRE 2015 E 2016

Propomos uma reflexão baseada nas experiências de autoavaliação institucional de um campus do Instituto Federal do Espírito Santo (Ifes), descrevendo a experiência de alguns membros que compõem ou compuseram a comissão setorial de avaliação deste campus. O objetivo geral é avaliar os índices de participação da comunidade acadêmica e indicadores de potencialidades que podem ser considerados como formas de diagnosticar o andamento e evolução das atividades de ensino, pesquisa e extensão do campus estudado. A metodologia aplicada foi a análise qualitativa de dados obtidos das autoavaliações institucionais dos anos de 2015 e 2016, considerando as potencialidades apontadas e comparando-os com o Plano de Desenvolvimento Institucional - PDI. Os resultados demonstram que apesar da fase de implantação, algumas ações de políticas acadêmicas já conseguem fazer um processo de transformação educacional, logo, os dados obtidos servem de embasamento e direcionamento para futuras intervenções de gestões futuras, principalmente em relação à infraestrutura física, políticas de gestão e políticas acadêmicas

Desafios do uso da inteligência artificial nos diagnósticos de saúde: uma revisão integrativa

Objective: To understand the role of AI in modern healthcare diagnostics and define boundaries for its application. Methodology: Integrative literature review. Studies were searched in the LILACS, MEDLINE, and SCIELO databases, selecting scientific articles without temporal or language restrictions. Results: Artificial intelligence impacts medicine at three levels: it optimizes image interpretation for physicians, enhances workflow by reducing potential errors for healthcare systems, and empowers patients to process their own data to promote health. However, attention is required regarding the generated data, as it may trigger cascading errors and expose sensitive information of healthcare system users. Conclusion: Assigning AI, the responsibility of choices and functions performed by humans is inherently dangerous, despite its undeniable contribution to diagnostic processes. Robust research is suggested to fully understand the impact of this new technological era provided by AI in healthcare. Conclusión: Asignar a la IA la responsabilidad de decisiones y funciones realizadas por humanos es intrínsecamente peligroso, apesar de su contribución innegable a los procesos de diagnóstico. Nitric Oxide in Skeletal Muscle: Role on Mitochondrial Biogenesis and Function

Nitric oxide (NO) has been implicated in several cellular processes as a signaling molecule and also as a source of reactive nitrogen species (RNS). NO is produced by three isoenzymes called nitric oxide synthases (NOS), all present in skeletal muscle. While neuronal NOS (nNOS) and endothelial NOS (eNOS) are isoforms constitutively expressed, inducible NOS (iNOS) is mainly expressed during inflammatory responses. Recent studies have demonstrated that NO is also involved in the mitochondrial biogenesis pathway, having PGC-1 alpha as the main signaling molecule. Increased NO synthesis has been demonstrated in the sarcolemma of skeletal muscle fiber and NO can also reversibly inhibit cytochrome c oxidase (Complex IV of the respiratory chain). Investigation on cultured skeletal myotubes treated with NO donors, NO precursors or NOS inhibitors have also showed a bimodal effect of NO that depends on the concentration used. the present review will discuss the new insights on NO roles on mitochondrial biogenesis and function in skeletal muscle. Analysis of the Desulfovibrio gigas transcriptional unit containing rubredoxin (rd) and rubredoxin-oxygen oxidoreductase (roo) genes and upstream ORFs

Rubredoxin-oxygen oxidoreductase, an 86-kDa homodimeric flavoprotein, is the final component of a soluble electron transfer chain that couples NADH oxidation with oxygen reduction to water from the sulfate-reducing bacterium Desulfovibrio gigas. A 4.2-kb fragment Of D. gigas chromosomal DNA containing the roo gene and the rubredoxin gene was sequenced, Additional open reading frames designated as ORF-1, ORF-2, and ORF-3 were also identified in this DNA fragment. ORF-1 encodes a protein exhibiting homology to several proteins of the short-chain dehydrogenase/reductase family of enzymes. The N-terminal coenzyme-binding pattern and the active-site pattern characteristic of short chain dehydrogenase/reductase proteins are conserved in ORF-1 product. OFF-2 does not show any significant homology with any known protein, whereas ORF-3 encodes a protein having significant homologies with the branched-chain amino acid transporter AzlC protein family. Northern blot hybridization analysis with rd and roo-specific probes identified a common 1.5-kb transcript, indicating that these two genes are cotranscribed. The transcription start site was identified by primer extension analysis to be a guanidine 87 bp upstream the ATG; start codon of rubredoxin, The transcript size indicates that the rd-roo mRNA terminates downstream the roo-coding unit. Putative -10 and -35 regulator regions of a sigma (70)-type promoter, having similarity with E. coli sigma (70) promoter elements, are found upstream the transcription start site. Rubredoxin-oxygen oxidoreductase and rubredoxin genes are shown to be constitutively and abundantly expressed. Using the data available from different prokaryotic genomes, the rubredoxin genomic organization and the first tentative to understand the phylogenetic relationships among the flavoprotein family are reported in this study

Distribution of Resources Collected Among Individuals From Colonies of Mischocyttarus drewseni (Hymenoptera, Vespidae)

The aim of this study was to analyze the distribution pattern of the food collected among groups of individuals in Mischocyttarus drewseni colonies. This behavior is one of the first actions exhibited by the foragers when they arrive in the colonies. Regarding nectar and prey collection, 95.90% of the collected nectar was given to larvae, whereas 3.57% to dominant individuals and 95.94% of the collected prey were given to the larvae, 2.54% to the dominant members, while the remainder of both was given to the workers. Despite not being significant, it was possible to observe a difference in food distribution among larvae, with larger larvae receiving more food than others. When the forager returns to the nest with pulp, it adds this material to cells in 64.29% of the times. Males showed agitated behavior with the arrival of the foragers, and sometimes took the foraged material from them

O perfil das complicações mais frequentes em pacientes hemodialíticos

A hemodiálise consiste na remoção rápida e efetiva de solutos de pequeno peso molecular durante um tratamento de 4 horas, de modo que tempo total de tratamento é de aproximadamente 12 horas semanais. Esse tratamento tem com objetivo primordial realizar a filtração artificial do sangue principalmente em pacientes com doença renal crônica (DRC). Essa patologia consiste em uma síndrome clínica secundária à alteração definitiva da função e/ou estrutura do rim em que apresenta múltiplas causas e vários fatores de risco. No entanto, esse tratamento hemodiálitico apresenta complicações importantes e alguns casos podem causar problemas graves. Assim, objetiva-se com esse estudo reconhecer as principais complicações enfrentadas pelos pacientes renais durante o tratamento para que seja possível promover estratégias de prevenção e melhora da qualidade de vida desses pacientes. O trabalho configura-se como um estudo analítico observacional de caráter quantitativo, que será realizado a aplicação de um questionário em uma clínica de nefrologia em Goiânia-GO. Dessa forma, espera-se conhecer e descrever o perfil dos pacientes e as principais complicações relacionados ao tratamento dialítico, contribuindo, então, com a formulação da prevenção dos agravos desencadeados pela hemodiálise

Genlisea hawkingii (Lentibulariaceae), a new species from Serra da Canastra, Minas Gerais, Brazil

Genlisea hawkingii, which is a new species of Genlisea subgen. Tayloria (Lentibulariaceae) from cerrado in southwest Brazil, is described and illustrated. This species has been found in only one locality thus far, in the Serra da Canastra, which is located in the Delfinópolis municipality in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The new species is morphologically similar to Genlisea violacea and G. flexuosa, but differs from them in having a corolla with a conical and curved spur along with sepals with an acute apex and reproductive organs that only have glandular hairs. Moreover, it is similar to G. uncinata's curved spur. G. hawkingii is nested within the subgen. Tayloria clade as a sister group to all the other species of this subgenus. Therefore, both morphological and phylogenetic results strongly support G. hawkingii as a new species in the subgen. Tayloria
