High-Resolution K' Imaging of the z = 1.786 Radio Galaxy 3C 294
We have obtained imaging in the K' band (~I-band rest frame) of the z=1.786
radio galaxy 3C 294 with the 36-element curvature-sensing adaptive optics
system Hokupa`a and the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope. At a resolution of <
\~0."15, the galaxy is seen as a group of small but resolved knots distributed
over a roughly triangular region ~1."4 across. The interpretation of the
structure depends on the location of the nucleus, as indicated by the compact
radio core. Its position is uncertain by > ~0."5 (2-sigma) because of
uncertainties in the optical astrometry, but our best estimate places it at or
near the southern apex of the distribution. If this location is correct, the
most likely interpretation is that of a hidden quasar nucleus illuminating
dusty infalling dwarf-galaxy-like clumps having characteristic sizes of ~1.5

esencial para poder instaurar medidas preventivas e interceptivas.

Invariant metrics and Hamiltonian Systems
Via a non degenerate symmetric bilinear form we identify the coadjoint
representation with a new representation and so we induce on the orbits a
simplectic form. By considering Hamiltonian systems on the orbits we study some
features of them and finally find commuting functions under the corresponding

Extending invariant complex structures
We study the problem of extending a complex structure to a given Lie algebra
g, which is firstly defined on an ideal h of g. We consider the next
situations: h is either complex or it is totally real. The next question is to
equip g with an additional structure, such as a (non)-definite metric or a
symplectic structure and to ask either h is non-degenerate, isotropic, etc.
with respect to this structure, by imposing a compatibility assumption. We show
that this implies certain constraints on the algebraic structure of g.
Constructive examples illustrating this situation are shown, in particular

Slow roll in simple non-canonical inflation
We consider inflation using a class of non-canonical Lagrangians for which
the modification to the kinetic term depends on the field, but not its
derivatives. We generalize the standard Hubble slow roll expansion to the
non-canonical case and derive expressions for observables in terms of the
generalized slow roll parameters. We apply the general results to the
illustrative case of ``Slinky'' inflation, which has a simple, exactly
solvable, non-canonical representation. However, when transformed into a
canonical basis, Slinky inflation consists of a field oscillating on a
multi-valued potential. We calculate the power spectrum of curvature
perturbations for Slinky inflation directly in the non-canonical basis, and
show that the spectrum is approximately a power law on large scales, with a
``blue'' power spectrum. On small scales, the power spectrum exhibits strong
oscillatory behavior. This is an example of a model in which the widely used
solution of Garriga and Mukhanov gives the wrong answer for the power spectrum.Comment: 9 pages, LaTeX, four figures. (V2: minor changes to text. Version

Overlooked gall-inducing moths revisited, with the description of Andescecidium parrai gen. et sp. n. and Oliera saizi sp. n. from Chile (Lepidoptera, Cecidosidae)
There are still many gall systems associated with larvae of Lepidoptera in which the true gall-inducers have not been identified to species. Reports on misidentification of gall inducers have been recurrent for these galls, particularly in complex gall-systems that may include inquilines, kleptoparasites, and cecidophages, among other feeding guilds such as predators and parasitoid wasps. Here we describe and illustrate the adults, larvae, pupae and galls, based on light and scanning microscopy, of Andescecidium parrai gen. et sp. n. and Oliera saizi sp. n., two sympatric cecidosid moths that are associated with Schinus polygamus (Cav.) Cabrera (Anacardiaceae) in central Chile. Adults, immatures, and galls of the former did not conform to any known cecidosid genus. Galls of A. parrai are external, spherical, and conspicuous, being known for more than one century. However, their induction has been mistakenly associated with either unidentified Coleoptera (original description) or Oliera argentinana Br糨es (recently), a distinct cecidosid species with distribution restricted to the eastern Andes. Galls of O. saizi had been undetected, as they are inconspicuous. They occur under the bark within swollen stems, and may occur on the same plant, adjacent to those of A. parrai. We also propose a time-calibrated phylogeny using sequences from mitochondrial and nuclear loci, including specimens of the new proposed taxa. Thus in addition to clarifying the taxonomy of the Chilean cecidosid species we also tested their monophyly in comparison to congeneric species and putative specimens of all genera of Neotropical and African cecidosids.Fil: Silva, Gabriela T..
