Space telescope phase B definition study. Volume 2A: Science instruments, f24 field camera
The analysis and design of the F/24 field camera for the space telescope are discussed. The camera was designed for application to the radial bay of the optical telescope assembly and has an on axis field of view of 3 arc-minutes by 3 arc-minutes
Local Density of States and Angle-Resolved Photoemission Spectral Function of an Inhomogeneous D-wave Superconductor
Nanoscale inhomogeneity seems to be a central feature of the d-wave
superconductivity in the cuprates. Such a feature can strongly affect the local
density of states (LDOS) and the spectral weight functions. Within the
Bogoliubov-de Gennes formalism we examine various inhomogeneous configurations
of the superconducting order parameter to see which ones better agree with the
experimental data. Nanoscale large amplitude oscillations in the order
parameter seem to fit the LDOS data for the underdoped cuprates. The
one-particle spectral function for a general inhomogeneous configuration
exhibits a coherent peak in the nodal direction. In contrast, the spectral
function in the antinodal region is easily rendered incoherent by the
inhomogeneity. This throws new light on the dichotomy between the nodal and

Low-energy excitations of a linearly Jahn-Teller coupled orbital quintet
The low-energy spectra of the single-mode h x (G+H) linear Jahn-Teller model
is studied by means of exact diagonalization. Both eigenenergies and
photoemission spectral intensities are computed. These spectra are useful to
understand the vibronic dynamics of icosahedral clusters with partly filled

An online algorithm for dynamic NFV placement in cloud-based autonomous response networks
Autonomous response networks are becoming a reality thanks to recent advances in cloud computing, Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) technologies. These enhanced networks fully enable autonomous real-time management of virtualized infrastructures. In this context, one of the major challenges is how virtualized network resources can be effectively placed. Although this issue has been addressed before in cloud-based environments, it is not yet completely resolved for the online placement of virtual machines. For such a purpose, this paper proposes an online heuristic algorithm called Topology-Aware Placement of Virtual Network Functions (TAP-VNF) as a low-complexity solution for such dynamic infrastructures. As a complement, we provide a general formulation of the network function placement using the service function chaining concept. Furthermore, two metrics called consolidation and aggregation validate the efficiency of the proposal in the experimental simulations. We have compared our approach with optimal solutions, in terms of consolidation and aggregation ratios, showing a more suitable performance for dynamic cloud-based environments. The obtained results show that TAP-VNF also outperforms existing approaches based on traditional bin packing schemes.Postprint (published version
Lombalgie chronique, COTOREP et reclassement professionnel en Moselle
Objectifs : Décrire les caractéristiques, la prise en charge, les résultats et le coût d\u27un reclassement professionnel concernant les assurés mosellans lombalgiques chroniques bénéficiant d’un accord de la Commission technique d\u27orientation et de reclassement professionnel (COTOREP). Méthodes : Etude descriptive menée entre août 2000 et mars 2001 dans le cadre d\u27un partenariat avec la COTOREP de Moselle intégrant 48 lombalgiques chroniques pour lesquels la COTOREP a donné en 1995 un accord de pré-orientation ou de reclassement professionnels. Résultats : Le lombalgique pris en charge était un homme jeune, de faible niveau scolaire et professionnel, en rupture avec le milieu du travail et souffrant d\u27une pathologie lombaire invalidante. Sur 32 formations suivies, 24 candidats ont réussi leur examen mais seuls dix diplômés ont trouvé un emploi. Huit diplômés ont trouvé un emploi conforme à la formation apprise. Le taux de reprise du travail était semblable pour les diplômés (10/24) et pour les autres lombalgiques (11/24). Le coût global pour l\u27assurance maladie variait de 25 000 en externat à 39 000 en internat. Conclusion : Devant la faible valeur ajoutée du reclassement professionnel que nous avons constatée, il paraît souhaitable de maintenir le lombalgique chronique dans son emploi en restaurant son rachis, en aménageant son poste de travail et, surtout, en gérant ses peurs et croyances liées au couple lombalgietravail
The Green Practitioner: A Decision-Making Tool for Green ICT
The environmental impact of ICT represents an increasing concern for modern society. Despite that, we still witness a lack of awareness from the ICT industry regarding their carbon footprint. In particular, practitioners lack knowledge and tools to perform informed decision-making in the area of Green ICT. Moreover, best practices for Green ICT are usually conceived and applied in-house. This prevents them from being generalized and shared with the community. In this paper, we present a web-based tool that tackles both needs: on one hand, the tool enables practitioners (i.e. agents) to browse a number of Green ICT solutions and calculate their estimated impact if applied to their organization, through customized parameters. On the other hand, the tool also provides a creation interface for contributors who want to generalize and share their own Green ICT practices. In addition, we foresee that the data generated by the usage of the tool will provide useful insights and trends regarding the adoption of Green ICT and its effectiveness on reducing CO2 emissions
Role of Quantum Confinement in Luminescence Efficiency of Group IV Nanostructures
Experimental results obtained previously for the photoluminescence efficiency
(PL) of Ge quantum dots (QDs) are theoretically studied. A

identical slope for each Ge QD sample only when . We
identified that above 6.2 nm: due to a changing
effective mass (EM), while below 4.6 nm: due to
electron/ hole confinement. We propose that as the QD size is initially
reduced, the EM is reduced, which increases the Bohr radius and interface
scattering until eventually pure quantum confinement effects dominate at small

The aim of this Research Topic was to offer an interdisciplinary forum for researchers interested in the interplay of face, eye gaze, and body perception in the understanding of others, with an emphasis on behavioural and neural processing. The papers included in this topic come from cognitive, neuroscience and social psychology perspectives and shed new light on how facial and body cues interact with each other and with social, ecological and contextual factors (such as for example social identification and group membership) to form a unified representation that can guide our perceptions and responses to other people. Altogether, they provide an up-to-date picture of advances in this fascinating research field
