    Interpersonal Trust in Virtual Software Development Teams: A Systematic Mapping Study

    Context: The progress of Information and Communication Technologies has greatly promoted the relationships among people of different geographical regions. Under this novel context, new settings of software development arise, known as virtual teams, a team of geographically dispersed developers. Objective: to assess the impact of virtual team’s interper-sonal trust on software development process. Method: We conducted a systematic mapping study of peer-reviewed literature up to August 2016. Results: We reviewed 41 primary studies. Some highlights are that virtual team effectiveness is the most affected aspect by the lacking of interpersonal trust, while face-to-face meeting is the most mentioned work strategy to mitigate this problem. Conclusions: This study corroborates the impact of interpersonal trust on virtual software development teams. We identified some work strategies but few advanced tools to mitigate the problems derived from the lack of interpersonal trust.Sociedad Argentina de Informática e Investigación Operativ

    Influence of the state of light on the optically induced interparticle interaction

    A general expression for the energy of interparticle interaction induced by an arbitrary mode of light is determined using quantum electrodynamics, and it is shown that the Casimir-Polder potential is included within this quantum result. Equations are also derived for the corresponding coupling induced by multimode number states of light, and the dependence of the pair energy on the Poynting vector and polarization state is determined. Attention is then focused on the interactions between particles trapped in counterpropagating coherent beams, both with and without interference, and it is shown that the results afford insights into the multiparticle structures that can be optically fabricated with counterpropagating input. Brief consideration is also given to the effect of squeezing the optical coherent state. Extending previous studies of optical binding in Laguerre-Gaussian beams, results are given for the case of particles trapped at radially different locations within the beam structure. Finally, consideration is given to interparticle interactions induced by broadband light, and it is shown how the length of optically fabricated particle chains can be controlled by the use of wavelength filters

    Electronic properties and hyperfine fields of nickel-related complexes in diamond

    We carried out a first principles investigation on the microscopic properties of nickel-related defect centers in diamond. Several configurations, involving substitutional and interstitial nickel impurities, have been considered either in isolated configurations or forming complexes with other defects, such as vacancies and boron and nitrogen dopants. The results, in terms of spin, symmetry, and hyperfine fields, were compared with the available experimental data on electrically active centers in synthetic diamond. Several microscopic models, previously proposed to explain those data, have been confirmed by this investigation, while some models could be discarded. We also provided new insights on the microscopic structure of several of those centers.Comment: 21 pages, 8 figure

    Finite temperature molecular dynamics study of unstable stacking fault free energies in silicon

    We calculate the free energies of unstable stacking fault (USF) configurations on the glide and shuffle slip planes in silicon as a function of temperature, using the recently developed Environment Dependent Interatomic Potential (EDIP). We employ the molecular dynamics (MD) adiabatic switching method with appropriate periodic boundary conditions and restrictions to atomic motion that guarantee stability and include volume relaxation of the USF configurations perpendicular to the slip plane. Our MD results using the EDIP model agree fairly well with earlier first-principles estimates for the transition from shuffle to glide plane dominance as a function of temperature.     Effects of Photomixotrophic Conditions on Plants of Eucalyptus Urograndis Propagated in Temporary Immersion Bioreactors

    Eucalyptus is one of the crop, which has been investigated with commercial purposes in the world. There are more than 500 species, being the Eucalyptus urograndis one of the most important, because of its intensive use in the production of wood pulp to make papers. The multiplication by means of temporary immersion bioreactors (TIB) is among the present techniques to obtain higher productions of the pulp to satisfy the demands of the market. The effects of the photomixotrophic crop were studies during the elongation of the propagation of shoots in the TIB in order to increase the quality of them. This process consisted of the use of 30 g L-1 combined with two concentration of CO2 (350 and 1200 µmol mol) and two flows of photosynthetic photon flux (PPF= 80 and 250 µmol m-2s-1). The higher percentage of suitable plants were found with the treatment of high PPF (250 µmol m-2 s-1) and 1 200 µmol mol of CO2. The photosynthetic capacity of propagated shoots was of 64% of the adult plants. Also was observed that photomixotrophic conditions reduced the stressed environment that is imposed by the growing in vitro. The catabolic activity in the enzymes of the metabolism of carbon was also reduced, increasing the activity of the Sucrose Phosphate Synthase

    Psychological Intervention for Development of Disease Awareness in Addicts: Villa Colibri Therapeutic Community of Santiago De Cuba

    In the research, a Mixed Method was used and the execution was through a sequential exploratory design. For the initial diagnosis was used, semi-structured interview, sentence completion test, disease awareness questionnaire, attitude to the disease, interpersonal relationships, and conflict management, were the dimensions of the awareness indicator of the disease. Based on the results of the diagnosis, the Psychological Intervention Program was developed, based on the cognitive-behavioral model with a humanistic approach. with respect to the attitude towards the disease, the subjects predominated in ambivalence in 70.6% and non-consciousness in 23.5%, referring to interpersonal relationships, ambivalent in 58.8% and not healthy in 29.4% and conflict management was inconsistent in 70.6%, and inadequate in 23.5%, after the development of the program, positive attitude increased 52.9% and ambivalence decreased to 41.2%, healthy interpersonal relationships grew to 47.1% and adequate conflict management was imposed in 58.8% of the sample. The lack of awareness of the disease in patients was identified, the preliminary results of the application of the program proved to be very useful to develop awareness of the disease in the subjects studied, thus achieving a better therapeutic adherence

    O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar uma possivel associação entre polimorfismo para cor da mufla e desempenho de tourinhos Canchim. O trabalho foi realizado em dois locais diferentes. Na Fazenda São Jorge (Cedral-SP), foram utilizados 51 aimais inteiros da raça Canchim com médias de 20 meses de idade e 327 kg de peso vivo ao inicio do período, e classificados em 3 grupos em relação a cor de mufla (escura, rosada e pigmentação intermediaria). O mesmo procedimento for feito para 105 animais que estavam participando da prova de Ganho de Peso na Estação Experimental de Zootecnia de Sertãozinho (SP), iniciando a prova com 210 dias e terminando com 378 dias de idade. Os resultados mostraram que não existiu associação significativa entre os grupos com diferentes cores de mucosa e o ganho diário em regime de confinamento.Resumo expandido.     PURPOSE The purpose of the study was to compare the post-reduction magnetic resonance imaging morphology for hips that developed residual acetabular dysplasia, hips without residual dysplasia, and uninvolved contralateral hips in patients with unilateral developmental dysplasia of the hip undergoing closed or open reduction and had a minimum 10-year follow-up. METHODS Retrospective study of patients with unilateral dysplasia of the hip who underwent open/closed hip reduction followed by post-reduction magnetic resonance imaging. Twenty-eight patients with a mean follow-up of 13 ± 3 years were included. In the treated hips, residual dysplasia was defined as subsequent surgery for residual acetabular dysplasia or for Severin grade > 2 at latest follow-up. On post-reduction, magnetic resonance imaging measurements were performed by two readers and compared between the hips with/without residual dysplasia and the contralateral uninvolved side. Magnetic resonance imaging measurements included acetabular version, coronal/ axial femoroacetabular distance, acetabular depth-width ratio, osseous/cartilaginous acetabular indices, and medial/lateral (limbus) cartilage thickness. RESULTS Fifteen (54%) and 13 (46%) hips were allocated to the "no residual dysplasia" group and to the "residual dysplasia" group, respectively. All eight magnetic resonance imaging parameters differed between hips with residual dysplasia and contralateral uninvolved hips (all p < 0.05). Six of eight parameters differed (all p < 0.05) between hips with and without residual dysplasia. Among these, increased limbus thickness had the largest effect (odds ratio = 12.5; p < 0.001) for increased likelihood of residual dysplasia. CONCLUSIONS We identified acetabular morphology and reduction quality parameters that can be reliably measured on the post-reduction magnetic resonance imaging to facilitate the differentiation between hips that develop with/without residual acetabular dysplasia at 10 years postoperatively.     Role of defects in the electronic properties of amorphous/crystalline Si interface

    The mechanism determining the band alignment of the amorphous/crystalline Si heterostructures is addressed with direct atomistic simulations of the interface performed using a hierarchical combination of various computational schemes ranging from classical model-potential molecular dynamics to ab-initio methods. We found that in coordination defect-free samples the band alignment is almost vanishing and independent on interface details. In defect-rich samples, instead, the band alignment is sizeably different with respect to the defect-free case, but, remarkably, almost independent on the concentration of defects.
