Generalized Gribov-Lipatov Reciprocity and AdS/CFT
Planar N=4 SYM theory and QCD share the gluon sector, suggesting the
investigation of Gribov-Lipatov reciprocity in the supersymmetric theory. Since
the AdS/CFT correspondence links N=4 SYM and superstring dynamics on AdS5xS5,
reciprocity is also expected to show up in the quantum corrected energies of
certain classical string configurations dual to gauge theory twist-operators.
We review recent results confirming this picture and revisiting the old idea of
Gribov-Lipatov reciprocity as a modern theoretical tool useful for the study of
open problems in AdS/CFT.Comment: 42 pages. Submitted to Advances in High Energy Physics, special issue

Exact computation of one-loop correction to energy of spinning folded string in AdS_5 x S^5
We consider the 1-loop correction to the energy of folded spinning string
solution in the AdS_3 part of AdS_5 x S^5. The classical string solution is
expressed in terms of elliptic functions so an explicit computation of the
corresponding fluctuation determinants for generic values of the spin appears
to be a non-trivial problem. We show how it can be solved exactly by using the
static gauge expression for the string partition function (which we demonstrate
to be equivalent to the conformal gauge one) and observing that all the
corresponding second order fluctuation operators can be put into the standard
(single-gap) Lam\'e form. We systematically derive the small spin and large
spin expansions of the resulting expression for the string energy and comment
on some of their applications.Comment: 52 pp, 12 figures; v3: footnote 9 adde
Finite size corrections and integrability of N=2 SYM and DLCQ strings on a pp-wave
We compute the planar finite size corrections to the spectrum of the dilatation operator acting on two-impurity states of a certain limit of conformal Script N = 2 quiver gauge field theory which is a ZM-orbifold of Script N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. We match the result to the string dual, IIB superstrings propagating on a pp-wave background with a periodically identified null coordinate. Up to two loops, we show that the computation of operator dimensions, using an effective Hamiltonian technique derived from renormalized perturbation theory and a twisted Bethe ansatz which is a simple generalization of the Beisert-Dippel-Staudacher [1] long range spin chain, agree with each other and also agree with a computation of the analogous quantity in the string theory. We compute the spectrum at three loop order using the twisted Bethe ansatz and find a disagreement with the string spectrum very similar to the known one in the near BMN limit of Script N = 4 super-Yang-Mills theory. We show that, like in Script N = 4, this disagreement can be resolved by adding a conjectured ``dressing factor'' to the twisted Bethe ansatz. Our results are consistent with integrability of the Script N = 2 theory within the same framework as that of Script N = 4
Remarks on the geometrical properties of semiclassically quantized strings
We discuss some geometrical aspects of the semiclassical quantization of string solutions in type IIB Green–Schwarz action on ADS5xS5 We concentrate on quadratic fluctuations around classical configurations, expressing the relevant differential operators in terms of (intrinsic and extrinsic) invariants of the background geometry. The aim of our exercise is to present some compact expressions encoding the spectral properties of bosonic and fermionic fluctuations. The appearing of non-trivial structures on the relevant bundles and their role in concrete computations are also considered. We corroborate the presentation of general formulas by working out explicitly a couple of relevant examples, namely the spinning string and the latitude BPS Wilson loop

Holography on the lattice: the string worldsheet perspective
We review the study, on the lattice, of the Green–Schwarz gauge-fixed string action describing worldsheet fluctuations about the minimal surface holographically dual to the null cusp Wilson loop, useful to evaluate the cusp anomaly of N= 4 super Yang–Mills (sYM). We comment on discretization, numerical explorations and challenges for the nonperturbative study of this benchmark model of gauge-fixed worldsheet actions
Mellin amplitudes for 1d CFT
We define a Mellin amplitude for CFT1 four-point functions. Its analytical properties are inferred from physical requirements on the correlator. We discuss the analytic continuation that is necessary for a fully nonperturbative definition of the Mellin transform. The resulting bounded, meromorphic function of a single complex variable is used to derive an infinite set of nonperturbative sum rules for CFT data of exchanged operators, which we test on known examples. We then consider the perturbative setup produced by quartic interactions with an arbitrary number of derivatives in a bulk AdS2 field theory. With our formalism, we obtain a closed-form expression for the Mellin transform of tree-level contact interactions and for the first correction to the scaling dimension of “two-particle” operators exchanged in the generalized free field theory correlator
Lattice perturbation theory for the null cusp string
We reconsider the problem of discretizing the worldsheet for the gauge-fixed Green-Schwarz superstring on a null cusp background, and present a setup which fully preserves its global U(1)Ă—SU(4) symmetry. We discuss divergences by power counting on the lattice, and study renormalizability at one loop with the example of one-point functions and one bosonic correlator of the worldsheet excitations. In order to remove UV divergences at one loop, it is necessary to introduce two extra parameters in the action, which need to be either fine-tuned at tree level or renormalized at one loop
6-(7-Nitro-2,1,3-benzoxadiazol-4-ylthio)hexanol, a specific glutathione S-transferase inhibitor, overcomes the multidrug resistance (MDR)-associated protein 1-mediated MDR in small cell lung cancer
In the present work, we have investigated the antitumor activity of 6-(7-nitro-2,1,3-benzoxadiazol-4-ylthio)hexanol (NBDHEX) on aggressive small cell lung cancer. NBDHEX not only is cytotoxic toward the parental small cell lung cancer H69 cell line (LC50 of 2.3 +/- 0.6 mu mol/L) but also overcomes the multidrug resistance of its variant, H69AR, which overexpresses the ATP-binding cassette transporter multidrug resistance-associated protein 1 (MRP1; LC50 of 4.5 +/- 0.9 mu mol/L). Drug efflux experiments, done in the presence of a specific inhibitor of MRP1, confirmed that NBDHEX is not a substrate for this export pump. Interestingly, NBDHEX triggers two different types of cell death: a caspase-dependent apoptosis in the H69AR cells and a necrotic phenotype in the parental H69 cells. The apoptotic pathway triggered by NBDHEX in H69AR cells is associated with c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase and c-Jun activation, whereas glutathione oxidation and activation of p38(MAPK) is observed in the NBDHEX-treated H69 cells. In contrast to the parental cells, the higher propensity to die through apoptosis of the H69AR cell line may be related to the lower expression of the antiapoptotic protein Bcl-2. Therefore, down-regulation of a factor crucial for cell survival makes H69AR cells more sensitive to the cytotoxic action of NBDHEX, which is not a MRP1 substrate. We have previously shown that NBDHEX is cytotoxic toward P-glycoprotein-overexpressing tumor cell lines. Therefore, NBDHEX seems a very promising compound in the search for new molecules able to overcome the ATP-binding cassette family of proteins, one of the major mechanisms of multidrug resistance in cancer cells
Four loop reciprocity of twist two operators in N=4 SYM
The four loop universal anomalous dimension of twist-2 operators in N=4 SYM
has been recently conjectured. In this paper, we prove that it obeys a
generalized Gribov-Lipatov reciprocity, previously known to hold at the three
loop level.Comment: 15 pages, v3: Appendix A.3 added, main body shortened, version

A solution to the 4-tachyon off-shell amplitude in cubic string field theory
We derive an analytic series solution of the elliptic equations providing the
4-tachyon off-shell amplitude in cubic string field theory (CSFT). From such a
solution we compute the exact coefficient of the quartic effective action
relevant for time dependent solutions and we derive the exact coefficient of
the quartic tachyon coupling. The rolling tachyon solution expressed as a
series of exponentials is studied both using level-truncation
computations and the exact 4-tachyon amplitude. The results for the level
truncated coefficients are shown to converge to those derived using the exact
string amplitude. The agreement with previous work on the subject, both on the
quartic tachyon coupling and on the CSFT rolling tachyon, is an excellent test
for the accuracy of our off-shell solution.Comment: 26 pages, 5 figure
