Mu-tau neutrino refraction and collective three-flavor transformations in supernovae
We study three-flavor collective neutrino transformations in the
dense-neutrino region above the neutrino sphere of a supernova core. We find
that two-flavor conversions driven by the atmospheric mass difference and the
13-mixing angle capture the full effect if one neglects the second-order
difference between the muon and tau neutrino refractive index. Including this
"mu-tau matter term" provides a resonance at a density of approximately 3 x
10^7 g cm^-3 that typically causes significant modifications of the overall
electron neutrino and antineutrino survival probabilities. This effect is
surprisingly sensitive to deviations from maximal 23-mixing, being different
for each octant.Comment: 9 pages, 7 figures. New presentation of results, version to be

Anapole moment of the lightest neutralino in the cMSSM
We study the anapole moment of the lightest neutralino in the constrained
Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (cMSSM). The electromagnetic anapole is
the only allowed electromagnetic form factor for Majorana fermions, such as the
neutralino. Since the neutralino is the LSP in many versions of the MSSM and
therefore a candidate for dark matter, its characterization through its
electromagnetic properties is important both for particle physics and for
cosmology. We perform a scan in the parameter space of the cMSSM and find that
the anapole moment is different from zero albeit very small (
GeV). Combined with experimental constraints like the Higgs mass and the
DM relic density, the allowed region of parameter space lies within the reach
of future direct DM searches. Thus, the anapole moment could be used as a
complementary constraint when studying the parameter space of the cMSSM and
other similar models.Comment: 22 pages, 13 figures. arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with

A new survey for high velocity HI detections in the southern hemisphere
A new high-sensitivity HI survey of the southern sky was made south of Declination , at the Instituto Argentino de Radioastronomía (IAR), on a half-degree grid in galactic coordinates. A total of 50980 positions were observed. One of the goals of this survey was to search for high velocity clouds (HVCs). The HI profiles have been smoothed to a velocity resolution of 8 km s-1. The resulting rms noise falls in the range 0.015 to 0.020 K. We have detected 6848 high velocity (HV) components.Fil: Morras, Ricardo. Provincia de Buenos Aires. Gobernación.
