Algorithm for in-flight gyroscope calibration
An optimal algorithm for the in-flight calibration of spacecraft gyroscope systems is presented. Special consideration is given to the selection of the loss function weight matrix in situations in which the spacecraft attitude sensors provide significantly more accurate information in pitch and yaw than in roll, such as will be the case in the Hubble Space Telescope mission. The results of numerical tests that verify the accuracy of the algorithm are discussed
Generalized Euler constants
We define a family {} of generalized Euler constants indexed by
finite sets of primes and study their distribution. These arise from
partial sums of reciprocals of integers not divisible by any prime in . An
apparent monotonicity is investigated. We also prove that a certain property of
these numbers is equivalent to the Riemann Hypothesis.Comment: v2. 13 pages. Minor changes suggested by the referee. To appear in

Examining the Personal and Institutional Determinants of Research Productivity in Hospitality and Tourism Management
The transition toward a post-capitalist knowledge-oriented economy has resulted in an increasingly competitive academic environment, where the success of faculty is dependent on their research productivity. This study examines the personal and institutional determinants of the quantity and quality of the research productivity of hospitality and tourism management faculty in US institutions. A survey of 98 faculty found that a different set of determinants impact the quantity and quality aspects of research productivity. Also, institutional determinants were found to play a larger role, indicating the need for administrators to strive for a culture that is supportive of and an infrastructure that is conducive to their faculty’s research success. The authors use the field of hospitality and tourism management as a case study to develop a holistic and cohesive framework for knowledge worker productivity that can guide the evaluation, hiring, and development of researchers

A nullstellensatz for sequences over F_p
Let p be a prime and let A=(a_1,...,a_l) be a sequence of nonzero elements in
F_p. In this paper, we study the set of all 0-1 solutions to the equation a_1
x_1 + ... + a_l x_l = 0. We prove that whenever l >= p, this set actually
characterizes A up to a nonzero multiplicative constant, which is no longer
true for l < p. The critical case l=p is of particular interest. In this
context, we prove that whenever l=p and A is nonconstant, the above equation
has at least p-1 minimal 0-1 solutions, thus refining a theorem of Olson. The
subcritical case l=p-1 is studied in detail also. Our approach is algebraic in
nature and relies on the Combinatorial Nullstellensatz as well as on a Vosper
type theorem.Comment: 23 page
Communicating Comfort in Crisis: A Literature Review on Overcoming the Emergency Room Environment to Foster the Nurse-Patient Relationship
The average emergency room patient is not receiving the compassionate nurse-patient communication that patients experience on other hospital floors. Fewer positive nurse-patient interactions prompt patients to state that they feel uncomforted and dissatisfied on hospital exit surveys, inciting hospital management to investigate how to reverse this trend to retain their federal funding. Emergency room nurses cite multiple barriers inherent in their work environment that prevent them from building rapport with their patients, including a layout not conducive to private conversations, strict time constraints, and a fluctuating workload. Working for a prolonged period under these conditions is driving many nurses to quit the specialty and even the profession altogether, putting patients at risk of increased complications due to having a revolving door of novice nurses treating them. Cutting-edge research on nurse-patient communication in the emergency room setting indicates that altering the emergency room layout, implementing a waiting-room nurse practitioner role, and decreasing the nurse-patient staffing ratio are all clinically successful solutions
Interaction and Expressivity in Video Games: Harnessing the Rhetoric of Film
The film-maker uses the camera and editing creatively, not simply to present the action of the film but also to set up a particular relation between the action and the viewer. In 3D video games with action controlled by the player, the pseudo camera is usually less creatively controlled and has less effect on the player’s appreciation of and engagement with the game. This paper discusses methods of controlling games by easy and intuitive interfaces and use of an automated virtual camera to increase the appeal of games for users
System availability management technique for reliability and maintainability analysis
Method for total system availability analysis is based on numerical prediction of the reliability, maintainability, and availability of each function system. It incorporates these functional-system estimates into an overall mathematical model
