Selection of factorizable ground state in a frustrated spin tube: Order by disorder and hidden ferromagnetism

The interplay between frustration and quantum fluctuation in magnetic systems is known to be the origin of many exotic states in condensed matter physics. In this paper, we consider a frustrated four-leg spin tube under a magnetic field. This system is a prototype to study the emergence of a nonmagnetic ground state factorizable into local states and the associated order parameter without quantum fluctuation, that appears in a wide variety of frustrated systems. The one-dimensional nature of the system allows us to apply various techniques: a path-integral formulation based on the notion of order by disorder, strong-coupling analysis where magnetic excitations are gapped, and density-matrix renormalization group. All methods point toward an interesting property of the ground state in the magnetization plateaus, namely, a quantized value of relative magnetizations between different sublattices (spin imbalance) and an almost perfect factorization of the ground state

On multicurve models for the term structure

In the context of multi-curve modeling we consider a two-curve setup, with one curve for discounting (OIS swap curve) and one for generating future cash flows (LIBOR for a give tenor). Within this context we present an approach for the clean-valuation pricing of FRAs and CAPs (linear and nonlinear derivatives) with one of the main goals being also that of exhibiting an "adjustment factor" when passing from the one-curve to the two-curve setting. The model itself corresponds to short rate modeling where the short rate and a short rate spread are driven by affine factors; this allows for correlation between short rate and short rate spread as well as to exploit the convenient affine structure methodology. We briefly comment also on the calibration of the model parameters, including the correlation factor.Comment: 16 page

On balanced complementation for regular t-wise balanced designs

AbstractVanstone has shown a procedure, called r-complementation, to construct a regular pairwise balanced design from an existing regular pairwise balanced design. In this paper, we give a generalization of r-complementation, called balanced complementation. Necessary and sufficient conditions for balanced complementation which gives a regular t-wise balanced design from an existing regular t-wise balanced design are shown. We characterize those aspects of designs which permit balanced complementation. Results obtained here will be applied to construct regular t-wise balanced designs which are useful in Statistics

Paper Session II-A - Space Station On-Orbit Solar Array Loads During Assembly

This paper is concerned with the closed-loop dynamic analysis of on-orbit maneuvers when the Space Shuttle is fully mated to the Space Station Freedom. A flexible model of the Space Station in the form of component modes is attached to a rigid orbiter and on-orbit maneuvers are performed using the Shuttle Primary Reaction Control System jets. The traditional approach for this type of problems is to perform an open-loop analysis to determine the attitude control system jet profiles based on rigid vehicles and apply the resulting profile to a flexible Space Station. In this study a closed-loop Structure/Control model was developed in the Dynamic Analysis and Design System (DADS) program and the solar array loads were determined for single axis maneuvers with various delay times between jet firings. It is shown that the Digital Auto Pilot jet selection is affected by Space Station flexibility. It is also shown that for obtaining solar array loads the effect of high frequency modes cannot be ignored

This study aims to determine the effect of cash flow, liquidity, profitability, firm size and firm risk on dividend policy. The type of data used is the documentary. Documentary data in the form of financial statements such as balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement. The data obtained from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Pekanbaru. Population in this study were 130 manufactur companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) with a sample of 17 companies during the years 2009 to 2012. Technique this study using purposive sampling method. The data analysis technique used in this study is multiple regression. Testing the regression with the assumptions used in testing the hypothesis that the classical assumption test (normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity), test the feasibility of the model, and the coefficient of determination. The results of this study indicate that there arent significant cash flow, profitability, firm size and firm risk on dividend policy and there is the effect of liquidity on dividend policy. Keywords: cash flow, liquidity, profitability, firm size ,firm risk, dividend policy

This article discusses the causal factors impact, and resolution of riot in the Glodok Market, West Jakarta. It aims to explain the causes and effects of violence in Glodok Market. This writing uses the framework of social psychology approach to in terview the riot victimswho considered the event as very frightening. The national factor was the Monetary Crisis in 1998 causing the rising prices of foodstuff. Monetary Crisis resulting in the price of nine essential commodities more increasingly and become scarce in the market. The panic, the socio economic disparity, and the prejudice indigenous people toward Chinese merchants happening among the public. While other political factor was Trisakti student demonstrations simultaneously with the mass riots. On May 14, 1998 the riots escalated, Glodok Market and Orion Plaza were subjected to vandalism, looting, arson, and rape. The impact of was the loss of property owned by merchants, and employment. Glodok Market riot also had an impact on the national economy untill the reign of President B.J. Habibie implementing corrective policies and the establishment of TPGF to discover, uncover the facts, the perpetrator, and the background of the riots in May 1998. President Abdurahman Wahid gave a freedom tto Chinese in sociocultural, religion, and political aspect, which influenced the development of Glodok Market, such as the presence of Glodok Standard Tabloid in mandarin

Modelling of population dynamics of insects in any ecosystem with several distributions of insect development: A Review: Presentation

Predicting the occurrence of insects with a high accuracy requires the estimation of insect development time and the variation among individuals for each life stage and species under different environmental conditions such as fluctuating temperature, variation of relative humidity, different body sizes and stages of the insects, levels of crowding, and food supply. This review summarized the modeling methods of population dynamics of insects with several distributions of insect development, assumption and prediction accuracy of these developed models, and disadvantages and advantages of these modelling methods. These modeling methods include degree day model, nonlinear model, and distribution delay models. The structure of most common models are cohort, Leslie matrix, simulation, and individual based. The relationships among the modeling assumptions, effects of temperature, and other environmental factors, and structures of the developed models were examined. A new modelling approach such as physiological-biological time scale and chaos theory was suggested.Predicting the occurrence of insects with a high accuracy requires the estimation of insect development time and the variation among individuals for each life stage and species under different environmental conditions such as fluctuating temperature, variation of relative humidity, different body sizes and stages of the insects, levels of crowding, and food supply.
