Poisson-Vlasov : Stochastic representation and numerical codes
A stochastic representation for the solutions of the Poisson-Vlasov equation,
with several charged species, is obtained. The representation involves both an
exponential and a branching process and it provides an intuitive
characterization of the nature of the solutions and its fluctuations. Here, the
stochastic representation is also proposed as a tool for the numerical
evaluation of the solutionsComment: 17 pages, 5 figure
Diálogos interdisciplinares para uma agenda socioambiental: breve inventário do debate sobre ciência, sociedade e natureza
The debate on science, nature and society, from the perspective of the construction of a new interdisciplinary knowledge, requires critical refelctions on the bases of modern scientific rationality. On the other hand, the critique of scientific knowledge that has been made coincides with the critique of the division between society and nature, with all of its socio-cultural and political implications. Instrumental reason and belief system develop together. Therefore, a deep critique of rationality and scientific practices, from the perspective of the societynature relationship, should seek to bring the knowledge that has been separated into different disciplines closer together again, especially with regard to the life sciences, that is, those of nature and society. This dialogue between fields of scientific knowledge should not, at the same time, exclude other forms of knowing the world, nature and society
The Discovery and Future Prospects of Artificial Porphyrins: Molecular Batteries Functioning with the Reversible Formation and Cleavage of Cyclopropane Units
The absence of the meso-hydrogen atoms in meso-octaalkylporphyrinogens enable the generation of novel forms of the oxidized porphyrinogen, 'artificial porphyrins'. A stepwise four-electron oxidation of meso-octaalkylporphyrinogen transitionmetal complexes led to
an unusual aromatization of the porphyrinogen with the loss of four hydrogen atoms and the introduction of one, followed by two cyclopropane units into the porphyrinogen frame. Such oxidized forms of porphyrinogen function as two-electron shuttles via the formation and cleavage of the
cyclopropane unit. Furthermore, the appropriate site opening of the cyclopropane may lead to important modifications of the porphyrinogen frame
Psychoanalysis: The Reasons Of Body Changing In A Movie Turning Red
When confronted with a challenge, individuals frequently experience anxiety. Numerous literary works depict the worry of the characters through the author's and characters' psychology. This study examines the psychology of the characters in the Disney film Turning Red. Mei Lee, a youthful, vivacious, and self-assured girl, is the film's primary character. Novels, poems, and films have examples of such works of literature. Freud discusses three types of anxiety: realistic anxiety, moral anxiety, and neurotic anxiety. The study employs qualitative descriptive methodologies. This study aims to determine why the main character in the film Turning Red undergoes physical transformations using Freudian anxiety types. According to this study, the main character experienced three types of anxiety. Realistic anxiety is the most prevalent type of anxiety. Anxiety occurs due to the dread of others caused by her body's transformation. It will cause others to fear her and consider her weird

Statistical approaches to interim analysis : a critical appraisal
Several important questions have been raised about decision of stopping a trial early and on what basis to reach such a decision. It seemed therefore of interest to investigate the forms of monitoring used in cancer clinical trials and to gather information on the role of interim analyses in the data monitoring process of a clinical trial. The project addressed the following issues: - what is the performance of different interim analysis approaches; - how often interim analyses are used in cancer clinical trials; - which types of statistical analyses are more frequently adopted; - how the data monitoring is organised and which is the weight of statistical analyses in the decisional process. Analysis of performance of different statistical analysis approaches has been conducted by comparing the probability of stopping and the estimation bias on clinical scenarios based on real data of trials performed in ovarian and colorectal cancers. The project also focused on the prevalence of different types of interim analyses and data monitoring for both safety and efficacy in cancer clinical trials. Sources of investigation were the literature data and the protocols of cancer clinical trials included in the in the Italian registry of clinical trials. Results of our research indicate that the more widely used statistical approaches reduce the risk of “incorrect “ early stopping, compared with the adoption of no stopping rule, with similar performance. Analysis of protocols and early reports suggests that the implementation of these procedures in a monitoring strategy is not satisfactory. Use of interim analyses is still limited to the frequentist approach of the alpha-spending function, while the Bayesian is not considered. Interim analysis plans are still scarcely described, even in more recent protocols, denoting a not yet sufficient attention to this issue not only by the researchers, but also by regulatory bodies
