    Teoria dos Contornos e a abordagem paramétrica do frevo de rua: planejamentos e realizações musicais

    O artigo aborda a utilização da Teoria dos Contornos na elaboração de planejamentos composicionais e na realização musical de três peças resultantes da pesquisa desenvolvida na Tese “A Teoria dos Contornos aplicada na fusão paramétrica do frevo de rua pernambucano: inter-relações com aspectos da música de concerto do séc. XX”, defendida em agosto de 2018 pelo primeiro autor do presente trabalho. Iniciamos o artigo com um histórico resumido sobre aspectos da referida teoria, sua representação gráfica e breves relatos de outros autores que a abordaram em suas pesquisas. No decorrer do texto, demonstramos como a teoria foi empregada nos planejamentos composicionais: sua aplicação nas reduções melódicas dos frevos de rua, na estruturação rítmica e formal das peças que foram compostas, na variação tímbrica e na serialização das dinâmicas e articulações

    Força, qualidade muscular e marcadores de risco cardiometabólico em mulheres idosas

    O processo de envelhecimento está associado a um declínio nas funções fisiológicas, refletindo em reduções na qualidade muscular, bem como em alterações de marcadores de risco cardiometabólico. Nesse sentido, o objetivo do estudo foi verificar a associação entre qualidade muscular e marcadores de risco cardiometabólico em mulheres idosas. Trinta mulheres idosas (66,13±5,26 anos, 67,33±12,45 kg, 1,54±0,07 m, 28,20±4,72 IMC) foram submetidas à avaliação da espessura e força musculares do quadríceps, e à análise sanguínea de marcadores de risco cardiometabólico (glicemia, insulina basal, proteína C-reativa, colesterol total, HDL-colesterol, LDL-colesterol, VLDL-colesterol, triglicerídeos, e índice HOMA-IR). Não foram encontradas correlações significativas entre os fenótipos musculares e os marcadores de risco cardiometabólico estudados, mesmo com controle para fatores de confusão. A presente pesquisa indica não haver correlação entre força e qualidade muscular com os marcadores de risco cardiometabólico estudados.The aging process is associated with a decline in physiological functions, including a reduction in muscle quality, as well as changes in cardiometabolic risk factors. Thus, the aim of this study was to verify if a correlation exists between muscle strength and quality and cardiometabolic risk markers in older women. Thirty older women (66.13±5.26 years, 67.33±12.45 kg, 1.54±0.07 m, body mass index: 28.20±4.72) were submitted to the evaluation of muscle thickness and strength and blood analysis of cardiometabolic risk markers (glucose, basal insulin, C-reactive protein, total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, VLDL-cholesterol, triglycerides, and HOMA-IR). No significant correlations were found between muscle phenotypes and markers of cardiometabolic risk, even after adjustment for confounding factors. The present study indicates that muscle strength or quality is not correlated with markers of cardiometabolic risk

    Correlation between alteration of enamel roughness and tooth color

    To establish the correlation between enamel roughness and color change of tooth. Enamel/dentin blocks (5 x 5 x 3.2 mm) were serially ground with the following abrasive paper: 1200-grit, 800-grit, and 600-grit SiC papers. In the paired model, the analyses of color (L*, a*, b*, ?E) and roughness (Ra) were performed among the sandpaper exposure. The data were subjected to ANOVA using models for repeated measures followed by the Tukey test. The Pearson correlation test was used to determine whether there was a relationship between Ra values and color results (? = 0.05). The L* values decreased in accordance with the increase of Ra, with statistical difference between all the times (p0.05). The alteration of enamel roughness acted on the lightness and the green-red axis of tooth color. However, there was no significant correlation between the alteration of roughness of enamel and general color change of tooth

    Tissue expression of CD10 protein in colorectal carcinoma: correlation with the anatomopathological features of the tumor and with lymph node and liver metastases

    BACKGROUND: The reduced expression of CD10 may be related to unfavorable prognosis of patients with colorectal carcinoma. The authors analyzed the tissue immunostaining of CD10 protein in colorectal carcinoma and its relationship to clinicopathologic features. METHOD: In 130 patients submitted to colorectal carcinoma surgery, a tissue microarray block was obtained from the tumor and adjacent non-neoplastic mucosa and submitted to immunohistochemistry with monoclonal antibody CD10. The immunostaining was evaluated by semi-quantitative method, with stained cell count in percentage. The results were related to the location, anatomopathological features, presence of lymph node and hepatic metastases and TNM staging of the colorectal neoplasm. The statistical analysis was performed with the Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis and Fisher exact tests. RESULTS: The expression of CD10 marker was higher in colorectal tumor tissue than in adjacent non-neoplastic mucosa (p<0.0001) and was higher than in exophytic lesions (p=0.04). The expression of CD10 protein was not associated with other clinical and pathological aspects of colorectal neoplasm. CONCLUSIONS: The expression of CD10 protein was more intense in tumor tissue of colorectal carcinoma than in adjacent non-neoplastic mucosa and was related to the exophytic appearance of the tumor.INTRODUÇÃO: A expressão reduzida de CD10 pode estar relacionada com prognóstico desfavorável de doentes com carcinoma colorretal. Analisou-se a imunoexpressão tecidual da proteína CD10 no carcinoma colorretal e sua relação com os aspectos clinicopatológicos. MÉTODO: Em 130 doentes operados por carcinoma colorretal, um bloco de tissue microarray foi obtido do tecido neoplásico e da mucosa não neoplásica adjacente e submetido ao estudo imuno-histoquímico com anticorpo monoclonal CD10. Avaliou-se a imunoexpressão por método semiquantitativo, com contagem do percentual de células coradas. Os resultados foram relacionados com a localização, aspectos anatomopatológicos, presença de metástases linfonodais e hepáticas e estadiamento TNM da neoplasia. O estudo estatístico foi realizado com os testes de Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis e exato de Fisher. RESULTADOS: A expressão do marcador CD10 foi maior no tecido do carcinoma colorretal do que na mucosa não neoplásica adjacente (p<0,0001) e foi maior nas lesões exofíticas (p=0,04). A expressão da proteína CD10 não apresentou relação com os demais aspetos clínicos e patológicos da neoplasia colorretal.     Characterization of whitening toothpastes and their effect on the physical properties of bulk-fill composites

    Objective: To characterize activated charcoal and 2% hydrogen peroxide-based toothpastes and investigate their effects on roughness, color change, and gloss of bulk-fill composite resin. Methodology: Composite resin specimens (Aura Bulk Fill, SDI) were subjected to 5,000 brushing cycles with regular toothpaste (Colgate Total 12, [RT]), activated charcoal toothpaste (Bianco Dental Carbon, [AC]), or hydrogen peroxide-containing toothpaste (Colgate Luminous White Advanced, [HP]), with or without coffee exposure. The pH, particle characterization by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and weight% of solid particles in the toothpaste were assessed. Roughness (Ra) was evaluated using a surface profile-measuring device, color change (∆Eab/∆E00) by reflectance spectrophotometer, and gloss unit (GU) by glossmeter. Kruskal–Wallis, Dunn, Friedman, and Nemenyi tests were used, and the correlation coefficient test was performed between Ra and GU (α=0.05). Results: RT presented a higher Ra after brushing and did not change after staining with coffee; moreover, the ∆Eab/∆E00 values were higher for RT than HP. Regarding gloss, AC and HP obtained higher values compared to RT. A significant negative correlation between gloss and Ra was found for RT exposed to coffee. All toothpastes had a neutral pH; however, RT had the largest percentage of solids by weight. SEM images showed particles of many sizes: irregular shape (RT), more regular particles (AC), and spherical clusters (HP). Although surface roughness, color change, and gloss may compromise the longevity of restorations, the whitening toothpastes tested did not promote more morphology changes than regular toothpastes

    Impact of light-curing time and aging on dentin bond strength of methacrylate- and silorane-based restorative systems

    AIM: To evaluate the impact of different light-curing times on dentin microtensile bond strength of two restorative systems after 24 h and 6 months of water storage. METHODS: Standardized Class II preparations were performed in 56 freshly-extracted human molars (n = 7), restored with methacrylate- or silorane-based restorative systems, and light-cured using a light-emitting diode at 1390 mW/cm2 by the recommended manufacturers' time or double this time. After storage for 24 h at 37 oC, the teeth were sectioned to yield a series of 0.8-mm thick slices. Each slab was trimmed into an hourglass shape of approximately 0.64 mm2 area at the gingival dentin-resin interface. Specimens were tested using universal testing machine at crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min until failure, after 24 h and 6 months of storage. Data were statistically analyzed by three-way ANOVA and Tukey's test (α = 0.05). RESULTS: The highest bond strength values were recorded for the groups restored with methacrylate system (p0.05).     Effect of light curing modes and ethanol immersion media on the susceptibility of a microhybrid composite resin to staining

    The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the susceptibility of a hybrid composite resin (Filtek Z250 - 3M ESPE) to staining, when light cured in four different modes and immersed in two different media. Composite resin specimens were randomly prepared and polymerized according to the experimental groups (conventional - 550 mW/cm² / 30 seconds; soft start - 300mW/cm² / 10 seconds + 550 mW/cm² / 20 seconds; high intensity - 1060 mW/cm² - 10 seconds; pulse delay - 550 mW/cm² - 1 seconds + 60 seconds of waiting time + 550 mW/cm² - 20 seconds) and immersed in one of two media (distilled water or absolute ethanol) for 24h. Next, the specimens were immersed in a 2% methylene blue solution for 12 hours. Afterwards, the specimens were washed and prepared for the spectrophotometric analysis. For statistical analysis, two-way ANOVA (4X2) and Tukey's test were performed on the data at 0.05 confidence level. Soft start showed the least staining, and was statistically different from the high intensity and pulse delay light curing modes (p;0.05). There were no significant differences between the two immersion media (p>;0.05). The soft start polymerization mode showed lower susceptibly of the composite resin to staining than high intensity and pulse delay, irrespective of the immersion medium
