Introduction. Methodology. A study of quantitative approach, descriptive level and cross section was carried out. A statistical sampling by formula defined the sample of 45 members of the nursing staff; Data collection was used by Goldberg Anxiety and Depression Scale (EADG) with 18 items with dichotomous response. Bioethical principles were considered and participants were asked to accept the signing of the informed consent letter. Descriptive statistics were used in the analysis of information by means of averages. Results. The mean age was 33.67 years and in terms of the prevalence of anxiety, is present in 62% of the sample and with respect to the variable depression, there is no presence of this; however, there is a risk of 20% of the sample to have symptoms of depression, among which were identified: difficulty concentrating, loss of appetite, feeling elongated and waking up too early. Conclusions. Addressing mental health in nursing staff is of great interest, as the presence of these conditions can affect from the health of the worker to the care and care provided to patients

The present investigative work called "Analysis of factors that influenced the personnel selection process in the Guaduas Cundinamarca Mayor's Office during the year 2020", is carried out in the municipality of Villa de San Miguel de Guaduas, capital of the Lower Magdalena province ; where, as in the entire Colombian territory, the mayors have the function of managing monetary resources; and thus ensure that these resources are used generating well-being for all people, this is a municipality with more than thirty thousand inhabitants, it has a large income from royalties and government contributions. The research is carried out with the objective of analyzing the factors that influenced the personnel selection process in the Guaduas Cundinamarca mayor's office for the year 2020, from the research question What were the determining factors in the election of the administrative personnel in the mayor's office of Guaduas Cundinamarca during the year 2020? The proposed research methodology is theoretical, primary and secondary data were collected through interviews and dialogues. The relationship it presents is descriptive

Improved iodine status is associated with improved mental performance of schoolchildren in Benin.

Background: An adequate iodine supply in utero and shortly after birth is known to be crucial to an individual's physical and mental development. The question of whether iodine supplementation later in life can exert a favorable influence on the mental performance of iodine-deficient populations was addressed in various studies, but with contradictory results. Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the effect of an improvement in iodine status on mental and psychomotor performance of schoolchildren (7-11 y) who were moderately to severely iodine deficient. Design: The study, which was originally planned as a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled intervention, was carried out in an iodine-deficient population of schoolchildren (n = 196) in northern Benin. As the population began to have access to iodized salt during the 1-y intervention period, the study population was split post hoc - on the basis of urinary iodine concentrations - into a group with improved iodine status and a group with unchanged iodine status. Changes in mental and psychomotor performance over the intervention period were compared. Results: Children with increased urinary iodine concentrations had a significantly greater increase in performance on the combination of mental tests than did the group with no change in urinary iodine concentrations. Conclusions: An improvement in iodine status, rather than iodine status itself, determined mental performance in this population, which was initially iodine deficient. These findings suggest a 'catch-up' effect in terms of mental performance

Transfer vs. Breakup in the interaction of the 7Be Radioactive Ion Beam with a 58Ni target at Coulomb barrier energies

We measured for the first time 7Be elastically scattered nuclei as well as 3,4He reaction products from a 58Ni target at 22.3 MeV beam energy. The data were analyzed within the optical model formalism to extract the total reaction cross section. Extensive kinematical, Distorted Wave Born Approximation (DWBA)and Continuum Discretized Coupled Channel (CDCC) calculations were performed to investigate the 3,4He originating mechanisms and the interplay between different reaction channels

Choline Content of Mothers' Milk in Ecuador and Boston

To the Editor: We have found that the free choline concentration of human milk varies during postnatal development and is sometimes markedly depressed in samples from women thought to be ingesting a choline-deficient diet. Choline is a precursor in the biosyntheses of phospholipids1 and of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.2,3 In animals, ingestion of a diet deficient in choline results in hepatic, renal, growth, and memory disorders.4 Neonates must ingest choline-containing foods like milk in order to maintain blood choline concentrations at high levels5; these levels may be needed to supply adequate choline to rapidly growing tissues
