Effect of Catheter-Based Patent Foramen Ovale Closure on the Occurrence of Arterial Bubbles in Scuba Divers

ObjectivesThis study sought to evaluate the effect of catheter-based patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure on the occurrence of arterial bubbles after simulated dives.BackgroundPFO is a risk factor of decompression sickness in divers due to paradoxical embolization of bubbles. To date, the effectiveness of catheter-based PFO closure in the reduction of arterial bubbles has not been demonstrated.MethodsA total of 47 divers (age 35.4 ± 8.6 years, 81% men) with a PFO (PFO group) or treated with a catheter-based PFO closure (closure group) were enrolled in this case-controlled observational trial. All divers were examined after a simulated dive in a hyperbaric chamber: 34 divers (19 in the PFO group, 15 in the closure group) performed a dive to 18 m for 80 min, and 13 divers (8 in the PFO group, 5 in the closure group) performed a dive to 50 m for 20 min. Within 60 min after surfacing, the presence of venous and arterial bubbles was assessed by transthoracic echocardiography and transcranial color-coded sonography, respectively.ResultsAfter the 18-m dive, venous bubbles were detected in 74% of divers in the PFO group versus 80% in the closure group (p = 1.0), and arterial bubbles were detected in 32% versus 0%, respectively (p = 0.02). After the 50-m dive, venous bubbles were detected in 88% versus 100%, respectively (p = 1.0), and arterial bubbles were detected in 88% versus 0%, respectively (p < 0.01).ConclusionsNo difference was observed in the occurrence of venous bubbles between the PFO and closure groups, but the catheter-based PFO closure led to complete elimination of arterial bubbles after simulated dives. همبستگی عزت نفس با پیشرفت تحصیلی در دانشجویان دانشکده‌ی پرستاری و مامایی زنجان 1388

زمینه و هدف: یکی از بزرگترین معضلات آموزشی، افت تحصیلی دانشجویان است. بنابراین توجه به بهداشت روانی و پیشرفت تحصیلی این گروه اهمیت به‌سزایی دارد. پاره‌ای از مطالعات بیانگر ارتباط مستقیم بین عزت نفس و پیشرفت تحصیلی است، لیکن بعضی از صاحب نظران رابطه‌ی مستقیم این دو را مورد تردید قرار داده‌اند. این پژوهش با هدف تعیین همبستگی عزت نفس با پیشرفت تحصیلی دانشجویان دانشکده‌ی پرستاری و مامایی زنجان انجام شده است. روش بررسی: این پژوهش یک مطالعه‌ی همبستگی بود، کلیه‌ی دانشجویان دانشکده‌ی پرستاری و مامایی زنجان که حداقل دو نیم‌سال سابقه‌ی تحصیلی داشتند، (182 نفر) در مطالعه شرکت کردند. ابزار جمع‌آوری اطلاعات پرسش‌نامه بود. پرسش‌نامه از دو بخش شامل: ویژگی‌های فردی و تحصیلی واحدهای پژوهش و آزمون 58 سوالی عزت نفس کوپراسمیت تشکیل شده بود. یافته‌ها: ضریب همبستگی پیرسون رابطه‌ی معنی‌داری بین عزت نفس و پیشرفت تحصیلی دانشجویان نشان داد (31/0= r ). ولی عزت نفس با سن و جنسیت ارتباط آماری معنی‌داری نداشت (05/0 P ). نتیجه‌گیری: با توجه به وجود همبستگی مثبت بین عزت نفس و پیشرفت تحصیلی دانشجویان، به نظر می‌رسد استفاده از روش‌های تقویت عزت نفس می‌تواند در جلوگیری از افت تحصیلی دانشجویان نقش داشته باشد

V teoretické části obsahuje diplomová práce popis finančního trhu, včetně nástrojů, které jsou zde obchodovány, a investičního procesu. Rapid auxin signaling: Unknowns old and new

To respond to auxin, the chief orchestrator of their multicellularity, plants evolved multiple receptor systems and signal transduction cascades. Despite decades of research, however, we are still lacking a satisfactory synthesis of various auxin signaling mechanisms. The chief discrepancy and historical controversy of the field is that of rapid and slow auxin effects on plant physiology and development. How is it possible that ions begin to trickle across the plasma membrane as soon as auxin enters the cell, even though the best-characterized transcriptional auxin pathway can take effect only after tens of minutes? Recently, unexpected progress has been made in understanding this and other unknowns of auxin signaling.
