Two-dimensional two-component plasma with adsorbing impurities
We study the behavior of the two-dimensional two-component plasma in the
presence of some adsorbing impurities. Using a solvable model, we find analytic
expressions for the thermodynamic properties of the plasma such as the -body
densities, the grand potential, and the pressure. We specialize in the case
where there are one or two adsorbing point impurities in the plasma, and in the
case where there are one or two parallel adsorbing lines. In the former case we
study the effective interaction between the impurities, due to the charge
redistribution around them. The latter case is a model for electrodes with
adsorbing sticky sites on their surface
Statistical Multifragmentation in Central Au+Au Collisions at 35 MeV/u
Multifragment disintegrations, measured for central Au + Au collisions at E/A
= 35 MeV, are analyzed with the Statistical Multifragmentation Model. Charge
distributions, mean fragment energies, and two-fragment correlation functions
are well reproduced by the statistical breakup of a large, diluted and

Multifragment production in Au+Au at 35 MeV/u
Multifragment disintegration has been measured with a high efficiency
detection system for the reaction at . From the event
shape analysis and the comparison with the predictions of a many-body
trajectories calculation the data, for central collisions, are compatible with

The Activity of the Spanish Teratology Information Services (SITTE and SITE) during 2008
Otros Resultados: Actividad TraslacionalWe summarize the activity of the two Teratology Information Services: SITTE (for health professionals) and SITE (for the general population),
during 2008. The total number of calls received in both services was 4,910 (943 from SITTE and 3,967 from SITE). This number has
increased compared to previous year. The main users of the SITTE (gynecologists 54.96%) and the SITE (pregnant women 79.89%), have
asked preponderantly about the use of drugs (70.22% of the SITTE and 37.49% of the SITE phone calls), during ongoing pregnancies at
the moment they were calling (82.82% in the SITTE and 85.18% in the SITE). Additionally, we analyze the type of consulted factors and
some characteristics of the users to orientate our work more effectively to the actual demand.N
Fast Photon Detection for Particle Identification with COMPASS RICH-1
Particle identification at high rates is an important challenge for many
current and future high-energy physics experiments. The upgrade of the COMPASS
RICH-1 detector requires a new technique for Cherenkov photon detection at
count rates of several per channel in the central detector region, and a
read-out system allowing for trigger rates of up to 100 kHz. To cope with these
requirements, the photon detectors in the central region have been replaced
with the detection system described in this paper. In the peripheral regions,
the existing multi-wire proportional chambers with CsI photocathode are now
read out via a new system employing APV pre-amplifiers and flash ADC chips. The
new detection system consists of multi-anode photomultiplier tubes (MAPMT) and
fast read-out electronics based on the MAD4 discriminator and the F1-TDC chip.
The RICH-1 is in operation in its upgraded version for the 2006 CERN SPS run.
We present the photon detection design, constructive aspects and the first

Fast photon detection for the COMPASS RICH detector
The COMPASS experiment at the SPS accelerator at CERN uses a large scale Ring
Imaging CHerenkov detector (RICH) to identify pions, kaons and protons in a
wide momentum range. For the data taking in 2006, the COMPASS RICH has been
upgraded in the central photon detection area (25% of the surface) with a new
technology to detect Cherenkov photons at very high count rates of several 10^6
per second and channel and a new dead-time free read-out system, which allows
trigger rates up to 100 kHz. The Cherenkov photons are detected by an array of
576 visible and ultra-violet sensitive multi-anode photomultipliers with 16
channels each. The upgraded detector showed an excellent performance during the

The Fast Read-out System for the MAPMTs of COMPASS RICH-1
A fast readout system for the upgrade of the COMPASS RICH detector has been
developed and successfully used for data taking in 2006 and 2007. The new
readout system for the multi-anode PMTs in the central part of the photon
detector of the RICH is based on the high-sensitivity MAD4
preamplifier-discriminator and the dead-time free F1-TDC chip characterized by
high-resolution. The readout electronics has been designed taking into account
the high photon flux in the central part of the detector and the requirement to
run at high trigger rates of up to 100 kHz with negligible dead-time. The
system is designed as a very compact setup and is mounted directly behind the
multi-anode photomultipliers. The data are digitized on the frontend boards and
transferred via optical links to the readout system. The read-out electronics

Spin asymmetry A_1^d and the spin-dependent structure function g_1^d of the deuteron at low values of x and Q^2
We present a precise measurement of the deuteron longitudinal spin asymmetry
A_1^d and of the deuteron spin-dependent structure function g_1^d at Q^2 < 1
GeV^2 and 4*10^-5 < x < 2.5*10^-2 based on the data collected by the COMPASS
experiment at CERN during the years 2002 and 2003. The statistical precision is
tenfold better than that of the previous measurement in this region. The
measured A_1^d and g_1^d are found to be consistent with zero in the whole

Gluon polarization in the nucleon from quasi-real photoproduction of high-pT hadron pairs
We present a determination of the gluon polarization Delta G/G in the
nucleon, based on the helicity asymmetry of quasi-real photoproduction events,
Q^2<1(GeV/c)^2, with a pair of large transverse-momentum hadrons in the final
state. The data were obtained by the COMPASS experiment at CERN using a 160 GeV
polarized muon beam scattered on a polarized 6-LiD target. The helicity
asymmetry for the selected events is = 0.002 +- 0.019(stat.) +-
0.003(syst.). From this value, we obtain in a leading-order QCD analysis Delta
G/G=0.024 +- 0.089(stat.) +- 0.057(syst.) at x_g = 0.095 and mu^2 =~ 3
(GeV}/c)^2.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figure
The Deuteron Spin-dependent Structure Function g1d and its First Moment
We present a measurement of the deuteron spin-dependent structure function
g1d based on the data collected by the COMPASS experiment at CERN during the
years 2002-2004. The data provide an accurate evaluation for Gamma_1^d, the
first moment of g1d(x), and for the matrix element of the singlet axial
current, a0. The results of QCD fits in the next to leading order (NLO) on all
g1 deep inelastic scattering data are also presented. They provide two
solutions with the gluon spin distribution function Delta G positive or
negative, which describe the data equally well. In both cases, at Q^2 = 3
(GeV/c)^2 the first moment of Delta G is found to be of the order of 0.2 - 0.3
