Charmonium spectroscopy above thresholds
We present a systematic and selfconsistent analysis of four-quark charmonium
states and applied it to study compact four-quark systems and meson-meson
molecules. Our results are robust and should serve to clarify the situation of
charmonium spectroscopy above the threshold production of charmed mesons.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figure
Applications of LANDSAT data to the integrated economic development of Mindoro, Phillipines
LANDSAT data is seen as providing essential up-to-date resource information for the planning process. LANDSAT data of Mindoro Island in the Philippines was processed to provide thematic maps showing patterns of agriculture, forest cover, terrain, wetlands and water turbidity. A hybrid approach using both supervised and unsupervised classification techniques resulted in 30 different scene classes which were subsequently color-coded and mapped at a scale of 1:250,000. In addition, intensive image analysis is being carried out in evaluating the images. The images, maps, and aerial statistics are being used to provide data to seven technical departments in planning the economic development of Mindoro. Multispectral aircraft imagery was collected to compliment the application of LANDSAT data and validate the classification results
Dual regimes of ion migration in high repetition rate femtosecond laser inscribed waveguides
Ion migration in high repetition rate femtosecond laser inscribed waveguides
is currently being reported in different optical glasses. For the first time we
discuss and experimentally demonstrate the presence of two regimes of ion
migration found in laser written waveguides. Regime-I, corresponds to the
initial waveguide formation mainly via light element migration (in our case
atomic weight < 31u), whereas regime-II majorly corresponds to the movement of
heavy elements. This behavior brings attention to a problem which has never
been analyzed before and that affects laser written active waveguides in which
active ions migrate changing their local spectroscopic properties. The
migration of active ions may in fact detune the pre-designed optimal values of
active photonic devices. This paper experimentally evidences this problem and
provides solutions to avert it.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figure
Pathological video game playing in Spanish and British adolescents: towards the exploration of Internet Gaming Disorder symptomatology
Research into problematic video gaming has increased greatly over the last decade and many screening instruments have been developed to identify such behaviour. This study re-examined the Problematic Videogame Playing [PVP] Scale. The objectives of the study were to (i) examine its psychometric properties in two European countries, (ii) estimate the prevalence of potential pathological gaming among adolescents in both countries, and (iii) assess the classification accuracy of the PVP Scale based on its symptomatology as a way of exploring its relationship with both the behavioural component model of addiction and the proposed Internet Gaming Disorder. The data were collected via a survey administered to 2,356 adolescents aged between 11 and 18 years from Spain (n=1,132) and Great Britain (n=1,224). Results indicated that the reliability of both versions was adequate, and the factorial and construct validity were good. Findings also showed that the prevalence of pathological gamers estimated with a rigorous cut-off point was 7.7% for Spanish and 14.6% for British adolescents. The scale showed adequate sensitivity, specificity and classification accuracy in both countries, and was able to differentiate between social and potential pathological gamers, and from their addictive symptomatology.
