Existence of solution to a critical equation with variable exponent

In this paper we study the existence problem for the p(x)p(x)-Laplacian operator with a nonlinear critical source. We find a local condition on the exponents ensuring the existence of a nontrivial solution that shows that the Pohozaev obstruction does not holds in general in the variable exponent setting. The proof relies on the Concentration--Compactness Principle for variable exponents and the Mountain Pass Theorem

A mass transportation approach for Sobolev inequalities in variable exponent spaces

    Get PDF
In this paper we provide a proof of the Sobolev-Poincar\'e inequality for variable exponent spaces by means of mass transportation methods. The importance of this approach is that the method is exible enough to deal with different inequalities. As an application, we also deduce the Sobolev-trace inequality improving the result obtained by Fan.Comment: 12 page

Pensamiento complejo: reflexiones para una pedagogía universitaria

    Get PDF

Is it possible to quantify the functions of the dress? A Question for Functional Analysis Methods in Design

    Get PDF
When we face the study of dress from its artifactual identity, we observe that its so-called functional dimension cannot be understood in the same terms proposed by the ergonomics of the product, that is, from the ergonomic concepts of usability, efficiency, effectiveness and psychological comfort in relation to a specific activity or work. This article, presents the results of a review of the functional analysis methods commonly used by design for the study of clothing, and explains why they are insufficient or limited to address the multiple functions of this particular artifact. At the same time, it proposes some considerations for its functional analysis that contribute in a decisive way to the design process of the clothing design.

This paper studies different pieces of the liturgical furniture of the parish of Our Lady of the Granada of Guillena’s Villa (Seville), which were acquired in the 18th century. Across the investigation in diverse historical files, we could have announced new information on the height and gilding of the reredos for the high altar, the work of the chairs coral, and the construction of the candlestick of glooms and of the eucharistic monument

Architect and sculptor José Fernando de Medinilla had remainded practically unknown until José Gestoso y Pérez wrote about him in 1899. Heliodoro Sancho Corbacho would contribute to a better knowledge of Medinilla’s life and worksby bringing out new data in 1934. This paper examines the contract for the building of a reredos for St. Eustace’s Parish Church

Model Based Development of Quality-Aware Software Services

    Get PDF
Modelling languages and development frameworks give support for functional and structural description of software architectures. But quality-aware applications require languages which allow expressing QoS as a first-class concept during architecture design and service composition, and to extend existing tools and infrastructures adding support for modelling, evaluating, managing and monitoring QoS aspects. In addition to its functional behaviour and internal structure, the developer of each service must consider the fulfilment of its quality requirements. If the service is flexible, the output quality depends both on input quality and available resources (e.g., amounts of CPU execution time and memory). From the software engineering point of view, modelling of quality-aware requirements and architectures require modelling support for the description of quality concepts, support for the analysis of quality properties (e.g. model checking and consistencies of quality constraints, assembly of quality), tool support for the transition from quality requirements to quality-aware architectures, and from quality-aware architecture to service run-time infrastructures. Quality management in run-time service infrastructures must give support for handling quality concepts dynamically. QoS-aware modeling frameworks and QoS-aware runtime management infrastructures require a common evolution to get their integration
