This study tries to analyze all the connections and points of contact that may arise between arbitration and the Property and Commercial Registries. After making a brief approach to the concept, legal nature and constitutional framework of arbitration, the entire arbitration process is addressed, from the agreement signed by the parties and by which they decide to submit future disputes to arbitration, to the mechanisms for challenging the award. Thus, the possibility and convenience of registering the agreement in the Registry, the necessary requirements for this and the effects that said registration will produce with respect to third parties are studied. A special detail is made in fields in which the admissibility of arbitration has been more discussed, such as corporate or tenancy, highlighting the specialties that we can find in matters such as succession. Within the development phase of the arbitration procedure, we stop to review the process of appointment of the arbitrators, the requirements that they must meet and the eventual judicial intervention as a mechanism of assistance in case of need. The possibility of adopting precautionary measures is also analyzed in this phase, with special attention to those that have registry significance: preventive annotations. In the same way, the finalization of the arbitration procedure is studied, detailing in detail the requirements that the award must meet. In this regard, the work focuses its attention on the requirements for the registration of the award. This section discusses issues that barely find an echo in the legislation, jurisprudence and doctrine, such as whether or not it is necessary for the award to be raised to a public deed to access the Registry, or what is the scope of the qualification registry. Finally, the possibilities of reviewing the award are also studied, either through the annulment action or through the appeal for review

Kharitonov Theorem Based Robust Stability Analysis of a Wind Turbine Pitch Control System

Wind energy has recently become one of the most prominent technologies among electrical energy generation systems. As a result, wind-based renewable energy generation systems are incessantly growing, and wind turbines of different characteristics are being installed in many locations around the world. One drawback associated with different characteristics of the wind turbines is that controllers have to be designed individually for each of them. Additionally, stable performance of the wind turbines needs to be ensured in the whole range of their operating conditions. Nowadays, there are many causes for uncertainties in the actual performance of a horizontal axis wind turbine, such as variations in the characteristics of the wind turbine, fabrication tolerances of its elements or non-linearities related to different operating-points. Hence, in order to respond to these uncertainties and ensure the stability of the wind turbine, robust control and stability theories have been gaining importance during recent years. Nevertheless, the use of robust stability analyses with complex wind turbine models still needs to be faced and remarkably improved. In this paper, a stability analysis of the pitch system control of a horizontal axis wind turbine based on the Kharitonov robust stability method is proposed. The objective was to assess the robust stability of a pitch controller in response to uncertainties arising from varying operating conditions of the National Renewable Energies Laboratory (NREL) 5 MW class IIA wind turbine. According to the results, the proposed method could satisfactorily respond to limited variations in the characteristics of the model, but could lack accuracy in cases of bigger variations or employment of high order complex mathematical models. This research was financed by the Government of the Basque Country through the ELKARTEK program KK-2019/00099 MARGA and by EHU 12/26 research program of the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU

Automated test data generation using a scatter search approach

The techniques for the automatic generation of test cases try to efficiently find a small set of cases that allow a given adequacy criterion to be fulfilled, thus contributing to a reduction in the cost of software testing. In this paper we present and analyze two versions of an approach based on the Scatter Search metaheuristic technique for the automatic generation of software test cases using a branch coverage adequacy criterion. The first test case generator, called TCSS, uses a diversity property to extend the search of test cases to all branches of the program under test in order to generate test cases that cover these. The second, called TCSS-LS, is an extension of the previous test case generator which combines the diversity property with a local search method that allows the intensification of the search for test cases that cover the difficult branches. We present the results obtained by our generators and carry out a detailed comparison with many other generators, showing a good performance of our approac

Clustering Big Data by Extreme Kurtosis Projections

    Get PDF
Clustering Big Data is an important problem because large samples of many variables are usually heterogeneous and include mixtures of several populations. It often happens that only some of a large set of variables are useful for clustering and working with all of them would be very inefficient and may make more difficult the identification of the clusters. Thus, searching for spaces of lower dimension that include all the relevant information about the clusters seems a sensible way to proceed in these situations. Peña and Prieto (2001) showed that the extreme kurtosis directions of projected data are optimal when the data has been generated by mixtures of two normal distributions. We generalize this result for any number of mixtures and show that the extreme kurtosis directions of the projected data are linear combinations of the optimal discriminant directions if we knew the centers of the components of the mixture. In order to separate the groups we want directions that split the data into two groups, each corresponding to different components of the mixture. We prove that these directions can be found from extreme kurtosis projections. This result suggests a new procedure to deal with many groups, working in a binary decision way and deciding at each step if the data should be split into two groups or we should stop. The decision is based on comparing a single distribution with a mixture of two distribution. The performance of the algorithm is analyzed through a simulation study

In this work, the influence of human body within the estimation of dosimetric values is analyzed. A simplified human body model, including the dispersive nature of material parameters of internal organs, skin, muscle, bones and other elements has been implemented. Such a model has been included within an indoor scenario in which an in-house 3D ray launching code has been applied to estimate received power levels within the complete scenario. The results enhance previous dosimetric estimations, while giving insight on influence of human body model in power level distribution and enabling to analyze the impact in the complete volume of the scenario. The authors wish to acknowledge the financial support of project FASTER, funded by the Consejería de Industria, Gobierno de Navarra

The aim of this study is to determine differences in the performance of an attention-related task involving martial arts skills. 12 expert martial arts athletes and 13 novices took part, performing the Test of Variables of Attention (Leark, Greenberg, Kindschi, Dupuy and Hughes, 2007). Using a non-parametric statistical permutation method, the test data for each variable, condition and segment of the test was analysed. Comparisons of the groups showed a trend toward a higher global Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) score by the expert athletes as compared with the novices. In order to find out each group's performance during the test, a statistical intra-group analysis was performed. Generally, the results revealed more consistent accuracy and response times by the experts than by the novice athletes. The results suggest that physical and mental training in the martial arts may increase the attention skills of sportsmen and women.O objectivo do estudo foi determinar as diferenças no desempenho de uma tarefa atencional tendo em conta a perícia em artes marciais.Participaram no estudo 12 desportistas especialistas em artes marciais e 13 iniciantes. In this work, a novel ambulatory ECG monitoring device developed in-house called HOLTIN is analyzed when operating in complex indoor scenarios. The HOLTIN system is described, from the technological platform level to its functional model. In addition, by using in-house 3D ray launching simulation code, the wireless channel behavior, which enables ubiquitous operation, is performed. The effect of human body presence is taken into account by a novel simplified model embedded within the 3D Ray Launching code. Simulation as well as measurement results are presented, showing good agreement. These results may aid in the adequate deployment of this novel device to automate conventional medical processes, increasing the coverage radius and optimizing energy consumption. The authors wish to thank the support given under project ENEIDA TEC2010-21563-C02-01, funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness of Spain
