More Three Dimensional Mirror Pairs
We found a lot of new three dimensional N = 4 mirror pairs generalizing
previous considerations on three dimensional generalized quiver gauge theories.
We recovered almost all previous discovered mirror pairs with these
constructions. One side of these mirror pairs are always the conventional
quiver gauge theories. One of our result can also be used to determine the
matter content and weakly coupled gauge groups of four dimensional N = 2
generalized quiver gauge theories derived from six dimensional A_N and D_N
theory, therefore we explicitly constructed four dimensional S-duality pairs.Comment: 33 pages, 18 figures version2 minor correction
Note on New KLT relations
In this short note, we present two results about KLT relations discussed in
recent several papers. Our first result is the re-derivation of Mason-Skinner
MHV amplitude by applying the S_{n-3} permutation symmetric KLT relations
directly to MHV amplitude. Our second result is the equivalence proof of the
newly discovered S_{n-2} permutation symmetric KLT relations and the well-known
S_{n-3} permutation symmetric KLT relations. Although both formulas have been
shown to be correct by BCFW recursion relations, our result is the first direct

The Hilbert Series of the One Instanton Moduli Space
The moduli space of k G-instantons on R^4 for a classical gauge group G is
known to be given by the Higgs branch of a supersymmetric gauge theory that
lives on Dp branes probing D(p + 4) branes in Type II theories. For p = 3,
these (3 + 1) dimensional gauge theories have N = 2 supersymmetry and can be
represented by quiver diagrams. The F and D term equations coincide with the
ADHM construction. The Hilbert series of the moduli spaces of one instanton for
classical gauge groups is easy to compute and turns out to take a particularly
simple form which is previously unknown. This allows for a G invariant
character expansion and hence easily generalisable for exceptional gauge
groups, where an ADHM construction is not known. The conjectures for
exceptional groups are further checked using some new techniques like sewing
relations in Hilbert Series. This is applied to Argyres-Seiberg dualities.Comment: 43 pages, 22 figure
Protective effect of Dendrobium officinale polysaccharides on experimental Sjogren's syndrome
Sjogren's syndrome (SS), usually described as a chronic inflammation which results in xerostomia (dry mouth) and xerophthalmia (dry eyes). According to the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, body fluid impairment causes the dryness, inducing water secretion deficiency. Discovery of a family of water-specific membrane channel proteins, the aquaporins, provides an interesting molecular mechanism of water permeability and transportation which were found abnormal in tissues of SS patients. Thus, this dryness may lead to the dysfunction in organs as various systematic manifestations. We established an autoallergic mouse model in vivo, and human salivary gland cell line A-253 in vitro. Polysaccharides of Dendrobium officinale (DP) were administrated as treatment, which was described to nourish yin and promote the body fluid. Results showed that immunization with SG autoantigen induced decrease of body weight and increased water intake, decreased AQP5 expression in a series of organs related to body fluid. Sera from model mice induced apoptosis of A-253 cells with activation of caspase-3. Administration of DP could reverse these pathological changes in both the animal and cell model. Thus, DP may be a promising candidate for the treatment of SS by up-regulating the expression of AQP-5 and protecting cells from apoptosis. © 2010 The Berkeley Electronic Press. The ABCDEF's of Matrix Models for Supersymmetric Chern-Simons Theories
We consider N = 3 supersymmetric Chern-Simons gauge theories with product
unitary and orthosymplectic groups and bifundamental and fundamental fields. We
study the partition functions on an S^3 by using the Kapustin-Willett-Yaakov
matrix model. The saddlepoint equations in a large N limit lead to a constraint
that the long range forces between the eigenvalues must cancel; the resulting
quiver theories are of affine Dynkin type. We introduce a folding/unfolding
trick which lets us, at the level of the large N matrix model, (i) map quivers
with orthosymplectic groups to those with unitary groups, and (ii) obtain
non-simply laced quivers from the corresponding simply laced quivers using a
Z_2 outer automorphism. The brane configurations of the quivers are described
in string theory and the folding/unfolding is interpreted as the
addition/subtraction of orientifold and orbifold planes. We also relate the
U(N) quiver theories to the affine ADE quiver matrix models with a
Stieltjes-Wigert type potential, and derive the generalized Seiberg duality in
2 + 1 dimensions from Seiberg duality in 3 + 1 dimensions.Comment: 30 pages, 5 figure
Bacteria localization and chorion thinning among preterm premature rupture of membranes.
OBJECTIVE: Bacterial colonization of the fetal membranes and its role in pathogenesis of membrane rupture is poorly understood. Prior retrospective work revealed chorion layer thinning in preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) subjects. Our objective was to prospectively examine fetal membrane chorion thinning and to correlate to bacterial presence in PPROM, preterm, and term subjects. STUDY DESIGN: Paired membrane samples (membrane rupture and membrane distant) were prospectively collected from: PPROM = 14, preterm labor (PTL = 8), preterm no labor (PTNL = 8), term labor (TL = 10), and term no labor (TNL = 8), subjects. Sections were probed with cytokeratin to identify fetal trophoblast layer of the chorion using immunohistochemistry. Fluorescence in situ hybridization was performed using broad range 16 s ribosomal RNA probe. Images were evaluated, chorion and choriodecidua were measured, and bacterial fluorescence scored. Chorion thinning and bacterial presence were compared among and between groups using Student's t-test, linear mixed effect model, and Poisson regression model (SAS Cary, NC). RESULTS: In all groups, the fetal chorion cellular layer was thinner at rupture compared to distant site (147.2 vs. 253.7 µm, p<0.0001). Further, chorion thinning was greatest among PPROM subjects compared to all other groups combined, regardless of site sampled [PPROM(114.9) vs. PTL(246.0) vs. PTNL(200.8) vs. TL(217.9) vs. TNL(246.5)]. Bacteria counts were highest among PPROM subjects compared to all other groups regardless of site sampled or histologic infection [PPROM(31) vs. PTL(9) vs. PTNL(7) vs. TL(7) vs. TNL(6)]. Among all subjects at both sites, bacterial counts were inversely correlated with chorion thinning, even excluding histologic chorioamnionitis (p<0.0001 and p = 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Fetal chorion was uniformly thinner at rupture site compared to distant sites. In PPROM fetal chorion, we demonstrated pronounced global thinning. Although cause or consequence is uncertain, bacterial presence is greatest and inversely correlated with chorion thinning among PPROM subjects

Genetic determinants of co-accessible chromatin regions in activated T cells across humans.
Over 90% of genetic variants associated with complex human traits map to non-coding regions, but little is understood about how they modulate gene regulation in health and disease. One possible mechanism is that genetic variants affect the activity of one or more cis-regulatory elements leading to gene expression variation in specific cell types. To identify such cases, we analyzed ATAC-seq and RNA-seq profiles from stimulated primary CD4+ T cells in up to 105 healthy donors. We found that regions of accessible chromatin (ATAC-peaks) are co-accessible at kilobase and megabase resolution, consistent with the three-dimensional chromatin organization measured by in situ Hi-C in T cells. Fifteen percent of genetic variants located within ATAC-peaks affected the accessibility of the corresponding peak (local-ATAC-QTLs). Local-ATAC-QTLs have the largest effects on co-accessible peaks, are associated with gene expression and are enriched for autoimmune disease variants. Our results provide insights into how natural genetic variants modulate cis-regulatory elements, in isolation or in concert, to influence gene expression
Puzzles of Dark Matter - More Light on Dark Atoms?
Positive results of dark matter searches in experiments DAMA/NaI and
DAMA/LIBRA confronted with results of other groups can imply nontrivial
particle physics solutions for cosmological dark matter. Stable particles with
charge -2, bound with primordial helium in O-helium "atoms" (OHe), represent a
specific nuclear-interacting form of dark matter. Slowed down in the
terrestrial matter, OHe is elusive for direct methods of underground Dark
matter detection using its nuclear recoil. However, low energy binding of OHe
with sodium nuclei can lead to annual variations of energy release from OHe
radiative capture in the interval of energy 2-4 keV in DAMA/NaI and DAMA/LIBRA
experiments. At nuclear parameters, reproducing DAMA results, the energy
release predicted for detectors with chemical content other than NaI differ in
the most cases from the one in DAMA detector. Moreover there is no bound
systems of OHe with light and heavy nuclei, so that there is no radiative
capture of OHe in detectors with xenon or helium content. Due to dipole Coulomb
barrier, transitions to more energetic levels of Na+OHe system with much higher
energy release are suppressed in the correspondence with the results of DAMA
experiments. The proposed explanation inevitably leads to prediction of
