The research aims to analyze the pattern of farmer communication networks in partnerships and the role of farmers as one of the stakeholders in implementing communication within the institution. The number of research respondents as many as 11 respondents taken by the non probability sampling method through snowball sampling found 8 farmers who partnered with the core of external partnerships and the rest were core, brokers and livestock services. Data analysis using open access software with UCINET 6,682. Based on a survey that the majority of broiler farmers in Malang district amounting to 72% were farmers partnering with integrators or external partnerships because for the procurement of breeder production facilities able to adjust to financial capabilities. The results of the study show that the value of in degree in the communication of the farmer actors is on average higher than the outdegree which means that the farmer's role as a communication actor in the partnership because the farmer acts as the main actor in providing upstream to downstream technical information to the company, while the out value degree where the ability of farmers in the network to exchange information continuously with a value of 55.56%, the value of outdegree was not as big as the degree because the farmer's communication relationship is only with the core technical limit. The incloseness value of 87.50% where the farmer was able to influence the network was very high because the farmer as the main actor of business success and outcloseness was the ability of the farmer to be influenced by only 57.17% because the farmer has mastered technical maintenance compared to other actors

DNA methylation and non-coding RNAs during tissue-injury associated pain

    Get PDF
While about half of the population experience persistent pain associated with tissue damages during their lifetime, current symptom-based approaches often fail to reduce such pain to a satisfactory level. To provide better patient care, mechanism-based analgesic approaches must be developed, which necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the nociceptive mechanism leading to tissue injury-associated persistent pain. Epigenetic events leading the altered transcription in the nervous system are pivotal in the maintenance of pain in tissue injury. However, the mechanisms through which those events contribute to the persistence of pain are not fully understood. This review provides a summary and critical evaluation of two epigenetic mechanisms, DNA methylation and non-coding RNA expression, on transcriptional modulation in nociceptive pathways during the development of tissue injury-associated pain. We assess the pre-clinical data and their translational implication and evaluate the potential of controlling DNA methylation and non-coding RNA expression as novel analgesic approaches and/or biomarkers of persistent pain

Modified lignin with improved reactivity can be a potential alternative for synthetic phenol formaldehyde resin for the adhesive of wood composite. Direct hydroxymethylation of kenaf in the present experiments was intended to increase lignin reactivity, and therefore was expected to result in satisfying properties of binderless MDF. The stem of kenaf was refined in a disk refiner and the refined fibers were hydroxymethylated in various levels of alkalinity. The concentration of NaOH during hydroxymethylation was of 3%, 6% and 12%. Wet process was applied to produce MDF (30 cm x 30 cm x 1 cm) with target density of 0.65 g/cm³. Physical and mechanical properties of MDF were measured in accordance with the standard procedure of JIS A 5905: 2003. Chemical changes in the surface of pulp and the change of board crystallinity were evaluated by FTIR-KBr method and X-Ray Diffractometry (XRD), respectively. Density, moisture content, and screw withdrawal of the board increased with increasing of NaOH concentration. Thickness swelling, water absorption, MOE and MOR increased up to 3% concentration of NaOH. The IB and heat conductivity of MDF were not influenced by NaOH concentration. Increasing OH groups due to hydroxymethylation was thought to be the origin of high water absorption and thickness swelling of the resulting boards. Higher alkalinity during hydroxymethylation stage was likely increasing cellulose crystallinity that brought about increasing board density. However, chemical modification of the fiber was thought to be more influential to the bending strength and stiffness of the resulting fiberboard. Hydroxymethylation of kenaf pulp was successfully improved board properties. Except for the moisture content, thickness swelling and internal bonding (at 0% and 3% NaOH concentration), all properties of the MDF satisfied the requirement of JIS A 5905: 2003 (type 5) standard

    Get PDF
Flacourtia rukam is a species of the Flacourtiaceae. The edible, cherry-like, sweet and sour fruits of the species are not known to be commercially exploited. Phenolic compounds and flavonoids are the main constituents of the fruits, which have also been reported to have good antioxidant properties. However, the available information on the phytochemical and pharmacological aspects of F. rukam indicated it to be very much an underutilized tropical fruit tree. Nevertheless, based on the ethnomedicinal uses of the fruits and other parts of the plant, its economic potential as a health giving food crop should be further investigated and properly evaluated
