A new family of magnetic adhesion based wall-climbing robots

Get PDF
This paper is devoted to climbing robots that adhere to the wall through permanent magnetic elements. If the surface on which they adhere is not ferromagnetic, it is necessary for the system to be composed of two subsystems (master and follower carts), arranged in a sandwich configuration, with the surface to climb interposed between the two. However, this configuration does not allow the robot to descend from the wall where it is climbing and to move freely on the floor (because of the presence of the follower). This paper shows how to remove this limitation. In fact, the system is able to automatically detach the follower when the robot has to move on the floor and recover it when it has to climb

Financial service is one of the significant finance areas, which can be regarded as the functions provided by organizations that operate in the finance industry. In this dynamic era of business, there has been notable progress in the innovation of various financial services. Financial services innovation can be termed as new ways and processes of providing financial services to customers. The recent development of mobile banking, short messaging service (SMS) banking, agent banking, internet banking, mobile money account are remarkable instances of financial services innovation in Bangladesh. This paper studies the present scenario of mobile financial services, regulatory framework, and prospects and challenges of Bangladesh. This study is a descriptive study where quantitative data has been collected from secondary sources. The study’s findings suggest that mobile financial services are accelerating in Bangladesh, but diversification of services is required to attain sustainable long-term growth. The concerned policymakers and practitioners’ can use the study to enhance mobile financial services in Bangladesh.</p

Background: Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a life threating condition which has a profound impact in the morbidity and mortality. SCI causes lifetime sufferings and mostly occur among the young adults. Not only in Bangladesh but also worldwide, SCI is a devastating and burdensome condition. This research was conducted to see the demographic profile of SCI patients in Bangladesh. Methods and Materials: This is a retrospective analysis where data was collected from medical records of all SCI patients admitted in between January 2012 to December 2014 from Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP), Savar. Results: A total of 1172 SCI patients were analyzed. Most of the patients were in their second to third decade of life which consisted 28.8% (n=338). Among total respondents, 86.2% (n=1010) were male and 13.8% (n=162) were female. Most of the participants 61.1% (n=716) were from rural area. The main cause of SCI was fall from height (FFH) {45.8% (n = 537)} followed by the road traffic accidents (RTA) {24.7% (n = 288)}. Overall, 52.3% (n = 613) of participants suffered from traumatic paraplegia while 60.9% (n = 714) had complete lesion. Among the total participants, 30.70% (n = 359) of participants had skeletal level C1-C7 injury. Division-wise distribution shows that FFH is a major cause of SCI {14.84% (n = 174)} followed by the RTA which is a second most common cause in 8.95% (n = 105) of participants in Dhaka division while SCI due to bull attacks and bullet injury are a major cause in Khulna division {1.02% (n = 12)} and Chittagong division respectively. Conclusion: The data is collected from a tertiary level of rehabilitation centre where extensive demographic data was not previously represented. In many developing countries SCI is neglected, poorly managed and deprived from society. In addition, the present study suggests that demographic factors may affect the characteristics of SCI

Abstract. The purpose of this research was to produce a product to attract students’ interest in learning mathematics tested the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of using development interactive learning media of arithmetic squence. The role of technology in the field of education is not only limited to how to operate a computer, but is expected to be a solution to learning problems experienced by students and teachers. This research was processed through the stages of 4D that is define, design, development, and disseminate. This research was conducted in MAN 1 Jember which involved 32 students’ of class XII MIPA 2. The result of the research show that the development media is valid according to the material expert with the percentage of the archieved value 93,75% from validator I, 95,31% from validator II, and validator III gives 92,19% value. Effective media with learning test reasult followed 32 students’ in this research show 87,5% completed. Quationnaire showed a percentage of a 85,27% from student for practicality. Nowadays Sponsorship is an important part of sports events. Sports sponsorship offers more benefits, more variety and also it’s a more powerful form of marketing. In general, sponsorship holds a unique position in the marketing mix because it is effective in building brand awareness, provides different marketing platforms and valuable networking and hospitality opportunities. Sponsorship marketing efforts can be influenced by culture. Especially when global sponsorship in sports which refers to sports events in different countries with different cultures, is under consideration. In such situations, sponsorship aspects can be affected by cultural obligations which are discussed in this article

Drug delivery and antimicrobial studies of chitosan-alginate based hydroxyapatite bioscaffolds formed by the Casein micelle assisted synthesis

Get PDF
The present study aims to develop a hydroxyapatite (HAP) based scaffold composite for orthopaedic applications and for that, we adopt a Casein (Cs) micelle assisted synthesis route for the formation of a composite. Following the synthesis and characterization of various fluorine (2% and 5%) substituted HAPs (FHAP), they have been tested for the release of Ciprofloxacin (CIP) drug and antimicrobial efficacy. The physicochemical characterization such as FTIR and Raman confirms the successful formation of the HAP composites. Similarly, the powder XRD and FESEM analysis have used for the confirmation of crystallinity and morphological behaviour, respectively. The elemental composition has confirmed using EDX analysis. The antimicrobial studies indicate that the 5% FHAP sample is possessing superior antifungal and antibacterial activities and the highest activity has been observed against the gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus) with an inhibition zone of 47 mm while the gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli) has only 38 mm inhibition zone. The CIP drug release profile has been controlling with the Cs/5% FHAP sample. Therefore, this composite has carried out for the scaffold formation with the use of chitosan-alginate matrices. Further, characterization of chitosan-alginate/5% FHAP scaffold composite indicates porous, biodegradable, considerable water uptake and retention ability, along with the maintenance of controlled CIP drug-releasing properties. Based on the analysis, the as-synthesized chitosan-alginate/5% FHAP scaffold composite can be suitable for the biomedical and bioengineering applications of bone tissue growth and as an implant

CV.Sabar Bersaudara is a company that produces concentrate and organic fertilizer products located in Pati, Central Java. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of mental workload experienced by workers based on measurements using the NASA-TLX and RSME methods, then to determine the level of physical workload experienced by workers based on measurements using the CVL method and provide suggestions for improvements to workload problems. The methods used in this study are NASA-TLX and RSME for measuring mental workload and the CVL method is used for measuring physical workload. The results of this study indicate that based on measuring mental workload using the NASA-TLX method, an average score of 68.2 is obtained which is categorized as high, for the RSME score results an average score of 84.8 is categorized as a large effort. . As for the results of measuring physical workload using the CVL method, an average score of 37.7 was obtained which was categorized as high and workers experienced fatigue. Proposals for improvements that can be given to mental workload problems are such as providing music entertainment, giving bonuses, completing office facilities and rearranging and updating work systems/job desks. Proposed improvements to physical workload problems are such as providing benches/chairs for workers, providing hand trolly tools to make material handling easier, increasing the number of workers in the production section and making improvements to factory layout facilities
