“Un vagabondaggio mentale”. Sentieri narrativi in Hilarotragoedia e Nuovo commento di Giorgio Manganelli

Il saggio si propone di riprendere la questione della narratività in relazione alle prime due opere finzionali di Giorgio Manganelli: Hilarotragoedia e Nuovo commento. Il primo paragrafo discute la classica definizione di Manganelli come scrittore antinarrativo, ripercorrendo alcune delle principali prese di posizione dell’autore contro il genere romanzesco e più in generale intorno al concetto di narrazione. Il secondo paragrafo legge alcuni passi dei due libri di Manganelli sulla scorta della teoria delle forme temporali proposta da Harald Weinrich in Tempus. Besprochene und erzählte Welt. L’ultimo paragrafo mette a fuoco alcune conseguenze dell’applicazione della teoria di Weinrich a questo contesto, concentrandosi in particolare sull’uso dinamico che Manganelli fa della figura dell’evidentia, utilizzata come una strategia nascosta di fabulazione narrativa.The main purpose of this essay is to reconsider the problematic issue of narrativity in Giorgio Manganelli’s earliest fictional works: Hilarotragoediaand Nuovo commento. The first paragraph debates the classic definition of Manganelli as an antinarrative writer and reexamines the main positions of the author against the novel and around the concept of narration in general. The second paragraph provides an interpretation of Manganelli’s fictional treatises through Harald Weinrich’s theory as outlined in Tempus. Besprochene und erzählte Welt. The last paragraph tries to draw some conclusions from the application of Weinrich’s theory to this context and focuses on Manganelli’s dynamic use of ecphrasis as a hidden strategy of narration.

This essay aims to introduce Maurizio Salabelle (1959-2003), one of the most underappreciated Italian authors of the ’90s. After providing an overview of his life and literary activity, the essay explores Salabelle’s poetics by scrutinizing the texts the author published in the literary magazine «Il semplice». In this process, I will underline the affinities between Salabelle and the other authors who contributed to «Il semplice» and, at the same time, I will clarify the reasons for the singularity of his work within the landscape of Italian comic literature at the end of the last century

Contribution of natural milk culture to microbiota, safety and hygiene of raw milk cheese produced in alpine malga

Processing of alpine milk in malga farms is carried out under conditions that can favor contamination by coliforms, coagulase-positive staphylococci, or pathogens such as Listeria monocytogenes. With the aim to improve the hygienic characteristics and safety of cheese produced in four malga farms the use of lyophilized Natural Milk Culture prepared with selected strains was tested.. Two cheesemaking tests were carried out in the same day always starting from the same milk: in the first case following the malga recipe that uses either Natural Whey Culture or without the addition of a starter, in the second one using a Natural Milk Culture. Cheesemaking were carried out in four malga farms located in the west area of Trentino region within the same week. For hygienic and safety evaluation, aerobic colony count, coagulase-positive staphylococci, Escherichia coli, staphylococcal toxins, Listeria monocytogenes, and Salmonella spp, pH and aw were determined in raw milk from evening and morning milking, curd in vat, curd after extraction and two months-ripened cheese. Pathogens or toxins, high values of coagulase- positive staphylococci and E. coli were not found in cheese samples. However, in the curd coagulase-positive staphylococci reached values almost of 5 Log CFU/g in the two malga without starter cultures. The use of Natural Milk Culture reduced E. coli counts. In addition, DNA was extracted from cheese samples and from Natural Milk Culture and the composition of the microbial community determined by Next Generation Sequencing method. The determination of cheese microbial communities demonstrated that the use of Natural Milk Culture exerted different effects in the different malga, in any case preserving bacterial biodiversity

Individual Listening Zone with Frequency-Dependent Trim of Measured Impulse Responses

Acoustic Contrast Control (ACC) has been widely used to achieve individual audio delivery in shared environments. The effectiveness of this method is reduced when the control is performed in reverberant environments. Even if control filters are computed using measured transfer functions, the robustness of the system is affected by the presence of reverberation in the plant matrix. In this paper a new optimization method is presented to improve the ACC algorithm by applying a frequency-dependent windowing of the measured impulse response used for the filter computation, thus removing late reflections. The effects of this impulse response optimization are presented by means of sound zoning results obtained from experimental measurements performed in a car cabin

Pricing financial derivatives with neural networks

Abstract Neural network algorithms are applied to the problem of option pricing and adopted to simulate the nonlinear behavior of such financial derivatives. Two different kinds of neural networks, i.e. multi-layer perceptrons and radial basis functions, are used and their performances compared in detail. The analysis is carried out both for standard European options and American ones, including evaluation of the Greek letters, necessary for hedging purposes. Detailed numerical investigation show that, after a careful phase of training, neural networks are able to predict the value of options and Greek letters with high accuracy and competitive computational time

Construction of two large-size four-plane micromegas detectors

We report on the construction and initial performance studies of two micromegas detector quadruplets with an area of 0.5 m$^2$. They serve as prototypes for the planned upgrade project of the ATLAS muon system. Their design is based on the resistive-strip technology and thus renders the detectors spark tolerant. Each quadruplet comprises four detection layers with 1024 readout strips and a strip pitch of 415 $\mu$m. In two out of the four layers the strips are inclined by $\pm$1.5$^{\circ}$ to allow for the measurement of a second coordinate. We present the detector concept and report on the experience gained during the detector construction. In addition an evaluation of the detector performance with cosmic rays and test-beam data is given.Comment: 26 pages, 25 figure
