Supervision of Sex Counseling in Counselor Education: a Phenomenological Study from a Sex Positive and Multiculturally Sensitive Perspective
While existing literature indicates the importance of supervision in counselor training (Bernard & Goodyear; 2003; Harris & Hayes, 2008; Lofrisco, 2013) and counseling efficacy with sexual topics (Bidell, 2005; Harris & Hayes, 2008), counselor educators’ role with supervising client sexual issues is unknown. Currently, 50% of American Counseling Association (ACA) members report uncertainty in how to address sexual concerns with clients (Blount, Booth, Webb, & Liles, 2017). As supervision is paramount in counselor training (Bernard & Goodyear, 2003) and Counselors in Training (CITs) increasingly inquire about working with sexual topics, a study in supervisor experiences with sexual topics is timely. Supervisors’ role in increasing student comfort and efficacy could be crucial, as often times supervision is the only opportunity for graduate students to speak about practicum and internship experiences that include client sexual topics. Counselor Education and Supervision (CES) programs include extensive supervision training but with the lack of training specific to sexuality in both masters and doctoral programs, the experiences of supervision of sexual topics is not yet understood. This dissertation study addresses the gap in the literature through the phenomenological examination of 13 counselor educators about their supervision experiences with sexual topics. Data were collected via semi-structured interviews. Resulting eight themes were managing conflicting emotions, creating conditions, values, advocacy, student focus, language, multicultural competency and student autonomy. Findings suggest participant experiences include working with process rather than focusing on content expertise in human sexuality. Participant tools include checking student reactions, the origins of reactions, helping students access empathy, and encouraging students to reflect on the tension the client might be experiencing, to move the supervision conversation into a process focus when it comes to human sexuality topics. Future research suggestions include closer examination of the research themes, to help supervisors develop specific tools and perhaps a supervision model, to assist with human sexuality supervision
Injected Power Fluctuations in 1D Dissipative Systems
Using fermionic techniques, we compute exactly the large deviation function
(ldf) of the time-integrated injected power in several one-dimensional
dissipative systems of classical spins. The dynamics are T=0 Glauber dynamics
supplemented by an injection mechanism, which is taken as a Poissonian flipping
of one particular spin. We discuss the physical content of the results,
specifically the influence of the rate of the Poisson process on the properties

Goal pursuit during the three stages of the migration process
Migration poses a strong contextual change for individuals and it necessitates the adjustment of goals and aspirations. Although goal-related processes seem highly relevant to migration success (e.g., migrant well-being and adjustment), existing research in the area is scattered and lacks an overarching theoretical framework. By systematically analyzing the current literature on goal pursuit in the migration context, we aim to give an overview of the current state of the field, identify areas that need further research attention, and recommend alternative methodological approaches for future studies. This systematic literature review uses the different stages of the migration process (pre-migration, during migration, and potential repatriation or onward migration) and the three different goal facets (goal structure, goal process, and goal content) as an organizing framework. Our discussion focuses on the theoretical and methodological implications of our findings. The article demonstrates the need for further research in the field of goal pursuit in the migration context
Solving advection equations by applying the crank-nicolson scheme combined with the richardson extrapolation
Advection equations appear often in large-scale mathematical models arising in many fields of science and engineering. The Crank-Nicolson scheme can successfully be used in the numerical treatment of such equations. The accuracy of the numerical solution can sometimes be increased substantially by applying the Richardson Extrapolation. Two theorems related to the accuracy of the calculations will be formulated and proved in this paper. The usefulness of the combination consisting of the Crank-Nicolson scheme and the Richardson Extrapolation will be illustrated by numerical examples. Copyright Zahari Zlatev et al
Microscopic formulation of the Zimm-Bragg model for the helix-coil transition
A microscopic spin model is proposed for the phenomenological Zimm-Bragg
model for the helix-coil transition in biopolymers. This model is shown to
provide the same thermophysical properties of the original Zimm-Bragg model and
it allows a very convenient framework to compute statistical quantities.
Physical origins of this spin model are made transparent by an exact mapping
into a one-dimensional Ising model with an external field. However, the
dependence on temperature of the reduced external field turns out to differ
from the standard one-dimensional Ising model and hence it gives rise to
different thermophysical properties, despite the exact mapping connecting them.
We discuss how this point has been frequently overlooked in the recent

Different faces of the phantom
The SNe type Ia data admit that the Universe today may be dominated by some
exotic matter with negative pressure violating all energy conditions. Such
exotic matter is called {\it phantom matter} due to the anomalies connected
with violation of the energy conditions. If a phantom matter dominates the
matter content of the universe, it can develop a singularity in a finite future
proper time. Here we show that, under certain conditions, the evolution of
perturbations of this matter may lead to avoidance of this future singularity
(the Big Rip). At the same time, we show that local concentrations of a phantom
field may form, among other regular configurations, black holes with
asymptotically flat static regions, separated by an event horizon from an

Damped finite-time-singularity driven by noise
We consider the combined influence of linear damping and noise on a dynamical
finite-time-singularity model for a single degree of freedom. We find that the
noise effectively resolves the finite-time-singularity and replaces it by a
first-passage-time or absorbing state distribution with a peak at the
singularity and a long time tail. The damping introduces a characteristic
cross-over time. In the early time regime the probability distribution and
first-passage-time distribution show a power law behavior with scaling exponent
depending on the ratio of the non linear coupling strength to the noise
strength. In the late time regime the behavior is controlled by the damping.
The study might be of relevance in the context of hydrodynamics on a nanometer

Non-universality of elastic exponents in random bond-bending networks
We numerically investigate the rigidity percolation transition in
two-dimensional flexible, random rod networks with freely rotating cross-links.
Near the transition, networks are dominated by bending modes and the elastic
modulii vanish with an exponent f=3.0\pm0.2, in contrast with central force
percolation which shares the same geometric exponents. This indicates that
universality for geometric quantities does not imply universality for elastic
