    Improving robotic grasping system using deep learning approach

    Traditional robots can only move according to a pre-planned trajectory which limits the range of applications that they could be engaged in. Despite their long history, the use of computer vision technology for grasp prediction and object detection is still an active research area. However, the generating of a full grasp configuration of a target object is the main challenge to plan a successful robotic operation of the physical robotic grasp. Integrating computer vision technology with tactile sensing feedback has given rise to a new capability of robots that can accomplish various robotic tasks. However, the recently conducted studies had used tactile sensing with grasp detection models to improve prediction accuracy, not physical grasp success. Thus, the problem of detecting the slip event of the grasped objects that have different weights is addressed in this research. This research aimed to develop a Deep Learning grasp detection model and a slip detection algorithm and integrating them into one innovative robotic grasping system. By proposing a four-step data augmentation technique, the achieved grasping accuracy was 98.2 % exceeding the best-reported results by almost 0.5 % where 625 new instances were generated per original image with different grasp labels. Besides, using the twostage- transfer-learning technique improved the obtained results in the second stage by 0.3 % compared to the first stage results. For the physical robot grasp, the proposed sevendimensional grasp representations method allows the autonomous prediction of the grasp size and depth. The developed model achieved 74.8 milliseconds as prediction time, which makes it possible to use the model in real-time robotic applications. By observing the real-time feedback of a force sensing resistor sensor, the proposed slip detection algorithm indicated a quick response within 86 milliseconds. These results allowed the system to maintain holding the target objects by an immediate increase of the grasping force. The integration of the Deep Learning and slip detection models has shown a significant improvement of 18.4% in the results of the experimental grasps conducted on a SCARA robot. Besides, the utilized Zerocross-Canny edge detector has improved the robot positioning error by 0.27 mm compared to the related studies.     Pretransplant HLA typing revealed loss of heterozygosity in the major histocompatibility complex in a patient with acute myeloid leukemia

    Introduction Chromosomal abnormalities are frequent events in hematological malignancies. The degree of HLA compatibility between donor and recipient in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is critical. Purpose of the study In this report, we describe an acute myeloid leukemia case with loss of heterozygosity (LOH) encompassing the entire HLA. Materials and methods HLA molecular typing was performed on peripheral blood (PB) and buccal swabs (BS). Chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA) was performed using a whole genome platform. Results Typing results on PB sample collected during blast crisis demonstrated homozygosity at the -A, -B, -C, -DR, and -DQ loci. A BS sample demonstrated heterozygosity at all loci. A subsequent PB sample drawn after count recovery confirmed heterozygosity. The CMA performed on PB samples collected during and after blast crisis revealed a large terminal region of copy-neutral LOH involving chromosome region 6p25.3p21.31, spanning approximately 35.9 Mb. The results of the CMA assay on sample collected after count recovery did not demonstrate LOH. Conclusions LOH at the HLA gene locus may significantly influence the donor search resulting in mistakenly choosing homozygous donors. We recommend confirming the HLA typing of recipients with hematological malignancies when homozygosity is detected at any locus by using BS samples, or alternatively from PB when remission is achieved

    Detection of equid herpesviruses among different Arabian horse populations in Egypt

    Equid herpesviruses (EHVs) threaten equine health and can cause significant economic losses to the equine industry worldwide. Different equid herpesviruses, EHV‐1, EHV‐2, EHV‐4 and EHV5 are regularly detected among horse populations. In Egypt, monitoring is sporadic but EHV‐1 or EHV‐4 have been reported to circulate in the horse population. However, there is a lack of reports related to infection and health status of horses, likely due to the absence of regular diagnostic procedures. In the current study, the circulation of four infectious equid herpesviruses (EHV‐1, EHV‐2, EHV‐4 and EHV‐5) among different Arabian horse populations and donkeys residing the same farm was monitored. Different samples were collected and DNA was extracted and subjected to quantitative (q)‐PCR to detect the four equid herpesviruses using specific primers and probes. Antibody titres against EHV‐1 and EHV‐4 were tested using virus neutralization test and type‐specific ELISA. The results showed that EHV‐1, EHV‐2, EHV‐4 and EHV‐5 are endemic and can be a continuous threat for horses in the absence of vaccination programs and frequent virus reactivation. There is an urgent need for introduction of active regular surveillance measures to investigate the presence of different equid herpesviruses, and other equine viral pathogens, in various horse populations around Egypt and to establish a standardized cataloguing of equine health status

    Implementation of MPPT Algorithm for Single-Stage Grid-Connected Photovoltaic system by using incremental conductance method

    This paper presents simulation and implementation of maximum power point tracking algorithm for single stage three-phase grid-connected PV system by using incremental conductance method. The maximum efficiency is realized when PV works at its maximum power point, which is contingent on irradiation and temperature. Since the irradiation and temperature always change with time, a PV system which able to track the maximum power point needs to be established to produce more energy. the IC method shows a superior performance, lower oscillation and it took 3second to match MPP that abest time to give stability to the system. the control strategy is supported out using MATLAB/Simulink and experimentally validated with a dSPACE MicroLabBox controller.</p

    Health Care-Seeking Behavior During Childhood Diarrheal Illness: Results of Health Care Utilization and Attitudes Surveys of Caretakers in Western Kenya, 2007-2010

    We interviewed caretakers of 1,043 children 20,000 children on five separate subsequent occasions (May of 2009 to December 31, 2010) to assess healthcare seeking patterns for diarrhea. Diarrhea prevalence during the preceding 2 weeks ranged from 26% at baseline to 4–11% during 2009–2010. Caretakers were less likely to seek healthcare outside the home for infants (versus older children) with diarrhea (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] = 0.33, confidence interval [CI] = 0.12–0.87). Caretakers of children with reduced food intake (aOR = 3.42, CI = 1.37–8.53) and sunken eyes during their diarrheal episode were more likely to seek care outside home (aOR = 4.76, CI = 1.13–8.89). Caretakers with formal education were more likely to provide oral rehydration solution (aOR = 3.01, CI = 1.41–6.42) and visit a healthcare facility (aOR = 3.32, CI = 1.56–7.07). Studies calculating diarrheal incidence and healthcare seeking should account for seasonal trends. Improving caretakers' knowledge of home management could prevent severe diarrhea

    Improving influenza vaccination rate among primary healthcareworkers in Qatar

    The purpose of this study was to improve influenza vaccination, and determine factors influencing vaccine declination among health care workers (HCW) in Qatar. We launched an influenza vaccination campaign to vaccinate around 4700 HCW in 22 Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) centers in Qatar between 1st and 15th of November, 2015. Our target was to vaccinate 60% of all HCW. Vaccine was offered free of charge at all centers, and information about the campaign and the importance of influenza vaccination was provided to employees through direct communication, emails, and social media networks. Staff were reported as vaccinated or non-vaccinated using a declination form that included their occupation, place of work and reasons for declining the vaccine. Survey responses were summarized as proportional outcomes. We exceeded our goal, and vaccinated 77% of the target population. Only 9% declined to take the vaccine, and the remaining 14% were either on leave or had already been vaccinated. Vaccine uptake was highest among aides (98.1%), followed by technicians (95.2%), and was lowest amongst pharmacists (73.2%), preceded by physicians (84%). Of those that declined the vaccine, 34% provided no reason, 18% declined it due to behavioral issues, and 21% declined it due to medical reasons. Uptake of influenza vaccine significantly increased during the 2015 immunization campaign. This is attributed to good planning, preparation, a high level of communication, and providing awareness and training to HCW with proper supervision and monitoring. 1 2017 by the authors.
