Higgs boson pair production at NNLO in QCD including dimension 6 operators

    Get PDF
In this paper, we present the computation of the Higgs boson pair production cross section, both inclusive as well as differential on the invariant mass distribution, at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in QCD including effects of new physics beyond the standard model. We parametrize the effects of new physics with the relevant dimension 6 operators in a standard model effective field theory (EFT) approach and examine their phenomenology. The dependence of the NNLO KK-factor on the EFT couplings is analysed, finding that, while rather flat for a number of EFT coefficients, it can considerably differ from the standard model value in some particular regions of the parameter space. We present explicit examples of (almost) degeneracy in the NNLO cross-section with respect to the anomalous couplings, showing that the invariant mass distribution has a much larger sensitivity to phenomena beyond the standard model and can be used as a tool to discriminate their effect.Comment: 19 pages, 4 figures; typos corrected, references added, appendix with additional formulae adde

Free evolution of an incoherent mixture of states: a quantum mechanical approach to the van Cittert-Zernike theorem

We study the time evolution of an incoherent mixture of quantum states and demonstrate, in very simple terms, a quantum mechanical equivalent of van Cittert–Zernike theorem, which can be easily explained to Quantum Physics students with a basic knowledge of the density matrix theory. Finally, we exemplify this result by applying it to the quantitative analysis of the coherence of a beam of particles in atomic collisions.Fil: Fabre, Ignacio. Comisión Nacional de Energía Atómica. QCD\oplusQED NNLO corrections to Drell Yan production

    Get PDF
We compute the QCD×\timesQED (O(αsα){\cal{O}}(\alpha_s \alpha)) mixed and QED2^2 (O(α2){\cal{O}}(\alpha^2)) corrections to the production of an on-shell ZZ boson in hadronic collisions. We obtain them by profiting from the calculation of the pure QCD terms after taking the corresponding abelian limits. Therefore, we extend the available knowledge up to complete next-to-next-to leading order precision in QCD\oplusQED. We present explicit results for the perturbative coefficients and perform the phenomenological analysis at different collider energies with particular emphasis on the mixed corrections. We study the contribution from the different channels and discuss the scale dependence stabilisation effect. We consider a factorisation approximation for the mixed order terms and show that it fails to reproduce the exact result. We find that the contributions are small, typically at the few per mille level, but that under some kinematical conditions they can compete with the pure QCD NNLO ones.Comment: 23 pages, 6 figure

ttˉHt\bar{t}H production at NNLO: the flavour off-diagonal channels

We consider QCD radiative corrections to the associated production of a heavy-quark pair (QQˉQ{\bar Q}) with a generic colourless system FF at hadron colliders. We discuss the resummation formalism for the production of the QQˉFQ{\bar Q}F system at small values of its total transverse momentum qTq_T. The perturbative expansion of the resummation formula leads to the explicit ingredients that can be used to apply the qTq_T subtraction formalism to fixed-order calculations for this class of processes. We use the qTq_T subtraction formalism to perform a fully differential perturbative computation for the production of a top-antitop quark pair and a Higgs boson. At next-to-leading order we compare our results with those obtained with established subtraction methods and we find complete agreement. We present, for the first time, the results for the flavour off-diagonal partonic channels at the next-to-next-to-leading order.Comment: 22 pages, 3 figures, 1 tabl

Anomalous couplings in Higgs-boson pair production at approximate NNLO QCD

    Get PDF
We combine NLO predictions with full top-quark mass dependence with approximate NNLO predictions for Higgs-boson pair production in gluon fusion, including the possibility to vary coupling parameters within a non-linear Effective Field Theory framework containing five anomalous couplings for this process. We study the impact of the anomalous couplings on various observables, and present Higgs-pair invariant-mass distributions at seven benchmark points characterising different mhh_{hh} shape types. We also provide numerical coefficients for the approximate NNLO cross section as a function of the anomalous couplings at s\sqrt{s} = 14 TeV

The incidence of Ryr1 and SOX6 polymorphisms were studied in a population  of northeastern Entre Ríos. Both genes are related to meat quality, Hal is known to be responsible for porcine stress syndrome and the presence of pale, soft and exudative meat (PSE) while SOX6 is a versatile transcription factor and plays an important role in muscle fiber differentiation. The markers at SOX6 loci were tested for their interactions/effect with Ryr1 regarding quality traits. Results showed that the pH and CRA were significantly related to SOX6a while only the ph of the meat was related with SOX6b. Strategy formulation based on this approach will help to support a growing pork industry and respond to consumer demand. Therefore, this work suggests that the selection of genotypes carrying C alleles for Halothane, A for SOX6a and C for SOX6b could improve the production capacity of fresh meat of good quality. Functional annotation of livestock genomes is a critical and obvious next step to derive maximum benefit for agriculture, animal science, animal welfare and human health. The aim of the Fr-AgENCODE project is to generate multi-species functional genome annotations by applying high-throughput molecular assays on three target tissues/cells relevant to the study of immune and metabolic traits. An extensive collection of stored samples from other tissues is available for further use (FAANG Biosamples ‘FR-AGENCODE’). From each of two males and two females per species (pig, cattle, goat, chicken), strand-oriented RNA-seq and chromatin accessibility ATAC-seq assays were performed on liver tissue and on two T-cell types (CD3+CD4+&CD3+CD8+) sorted from blood (mammals) or spleen (chicken). Chromosome Conformation Capture (in situ Hi-C) was also carried out on liver. Sequencing reads from the 3 assays were processed using standard processing pipelines. While most (50–70%) RNA-seq reads mapped to annotated exons, thousands of novel transcripts and genes were found, including extensions of annotated protein-coding genes and new lncRNAs (see abstract #69857). Consistency of ATAC-seq results was confirmed by the significant proportion of called peaks in promoter regions (36–66%) and by the specific accumulation pattern of peaks around gene starts (TSS) v. gene ends (TTS). Principal Component Analyses for RNA-seq (based on quantified gene expression) and ATAC-seq (based on quantified chromatin accessibility) highlighted clusters characterised by cell type and sex in all species. From Hi-C data, we generated 40kb-resolution interaction maps, profiled a genome-wide Directionality Index and identified from 4,100 (chicken) to 12,100 (pig) topologically-associating do- mains (TADs). Correlations were reported between RNA-seq and ATAC-seq results (see abstract #71581). In summary, we present here an overview of the first multi-species and -tissue annotations of chromatin accessibility and genome architecture related to gene expression for farm animals

Risk Factors and Outcomes for Late Presentation for HIV-Positive Persons in Europe: Results from the Collaboration of Observational HIV Epidemiological Research Europe Study (COHERE)

    Get PDF
Background: Few studies have monitored late presentation (LP) of HIV infection over the European continent, including Eastern Europe. Study objectives were to explore the impact of LP on AIDS and mortality. Methods and Findings: LP was defined in Collaboration of Observational HIV Epidemiological Research Europe (COHERE) as HIV diagnosis with a CD4 count <350/mm3 or an AIDS diagnosis within 6 months of HIV diagnosis among persons presenting for care between 1 January 2000 and 30 June 2011. Logistic regression was used to identify factors associated with LP and Poisson regression to explore the impact on AIDS/death. 84,524 individuals from 23 cohorts in 35 countries contributed data; 45,488 were LP (53.8%). LP was highest in heterosexual males (66.1%), Southern European countries (57.0%), and persons originating from Africa (65.1%). LP decreased from 57.3% in 2000 to 51.7% in 2010/2011 (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 0.96; 95% CI 0.95-0.97). LP decreased over time in both Central and Northern Europe among homosexual men, and male and female heterosexuals, but increased over time for female heterosexuals and male intravenous drug users (IDUs) from Southern Europe and in male and female IDUs from Eastern Europe. 8,187 AIDS/deaths occurred during 327,003 person-years of follow-up. In the first year after HIV diagnosis, LP was associated with over a 13-fold increased incidence of AIDS/death in Southern Europe (adjusted incidence rate ratio [aIRR] 13.02; 95% CI 8.19-20.70) and over a 6-fold increased rate in Eastern Europe (aIRR 6.64; 95% CI 3.55-12.43). Conclusions: LP has decreased over time across Europe, but remains a significant issue in the region in all HIV exposure groups. LP increased in male IDUs and female heterosexuals from Southern Europe and IDUs in Eastern Europe. LP was associated with an increased rate of AIDS/deaths, particularly in the first year after HIV diagnosis, with significant variation across Europe. Earlier and more widespread testing, timely referrals after testing positive, and improved retention in care strategies are required to further reduce the incidence of LP
