La música del Estallido social chileno: el despertar visto desde la ventana del acontecimiento

This work is a research exercise about the history of present time in which we show how it is possible to make intelligible facts that are in temporal proximity to the observer. To do so, we take as a case study the Chilean mobilisations of 2019 in Chile and, in particular, a corpus of songs broadcasted on the YouTube channel of Lavitrola.cl under the hashtag #únansealcanto. From an analysis of what musicians’ “sing”, “say” and “do”, we explored how songs could inform and signify an event, as well as how this event could be itself a window to capture the sense of the present, to illuminate its structural dynamics, and to comprehend the aspirations of its main actors pursue. Para ello, tomamos como caso de estudio las movilizaciones ocurridas durante el 2019 en Chile y, en particular, un corpus de canciones sobre el estallido difundidas en el canal de Youtube de Lavitrola.cl bajo el hashtag #únansealcanto. A partir de un análisis de lo que “cantan”,  lo que “dicen” y lo que “hacen” los músicos exploramos cómo las canciones dan información y significación sobre el acontecimiento, y cómo ese acontecimiento puede ser en sí mismo una ventana para capturar el sentido del presente, para iluminar las dinámicas estructurales que le subyacen y para comprender las aspiraciones de sus principales actores. Biochemical and Hematological Indexes of Liver Dysfunction in Horses

In the present review, the authors, based on the multiple functions performed by the liver, analyze the multiple biochemical and hematological changes as an expression of altered liver function in the horse. The liver performs important metabolic functions related to the synthesis, degradation, and excretion of various substances. Modification of these functions can be evaluated and diagnosed by determining serum concentrations of several serum analytes, including enzymes and other endogenous substances. Hepatocellular enzymes, such as sorbitol dehydrogenase-SDH and glutamate dehydrogenase-GLDH, are released following hepatocellular necrosis. Hepatobiliary enzymes, such as γ -glutamyl transferase-GGT, increase in response to necrosis, cholestasis, and other alterations in bile conducts. Serum concentrations of mainly endogenous and exogenous substances that the liver should synthesize or eliminate, such as proteins (albumin and globulins), bile acids, urea, glucose, total and direct bilirubin, and coagulation factors, and fibrinogen should be included in the liver function test profile. The interpretation of laboratory tests of liver function will allow the diagnosis of functional loss of the organ. Some of the analytes considered provide information on the prognosis of liver disease. This review will provide an accurate and objective interpretation of the common biochemical and hematological tests in use in the diagnosis of equine hepatic disease patients, aiding still further the veterinary activity on the applied equine clinical cases.Veterinari

Desarrollo de un Índice Maestro de Pacientes utilizando estándares y software open source

Es fundamental, que todo efector relacionado con la salud que tenga sistemas informáticos implemente procesos que permitan identificar en forma única a una persona evitando los problemas relacionados con la duplicación de pacientes. Por este motivo, en este trabajo se presenta una propuesta de desarrollo de un Índice Maestro de Pacientes (IMP) utilizando estándares y centrado en la implementación del módulo de búsquedas y auditoría. Un problema importante que se presenta en sistemas de salud com-puesto por muchos efectores es poder interoperar entre ellos manteniendo una persona en forma única en todo el sistema de salud evitando la duplicación de los datos. La utilización de estándares como FHIR con la definición de una arquitec-tura orientada a servicios es fundamental para lograr un diseño que solucione en forma efectiva el problema. En este trabajo se presenta una propuesta de arqui-tectura utilizando software open source para permitir la integración de los datos de las personas y la interoperabilidad entre distintos sistemas. Metagenómica en la identificación de microorganismos que producen biodeterioro: patrimonio edificado con arquitectura en tierra, Vale Histórico Paulista (São Paulo, Brasil)

El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar resultados obtenidos mediante análisis por metagenómica como herramienta novedosa para la identificación taxonómica de hongos y bacterias a partir de biofilms en paredes de arquitectura en tierra (“pau-a-pique”, “taipa de pilão” y adobe), de edificaciones históricas del Vale Histórico Paulista, representativas del período colonial brasileño, Se extrajo el DNA total de los biofilms, que fue amplificado mediante primers específicos para regiones variables de los genes 16S y 18S ribosomal, y luego secuenciado obteniéndose bibliotecas del amplificado. El programa QIIME reveló la diversidad taxonómica en los distintos sustratos. Los géneros más abundantes de bacterias fueron: Aciditerrimonas, Blastococcus, Geodermatophilus, Arthrobacter, Micromonospora, Nocardioides, Propionibacterium, Pseudonocardia, Rubrobacter, Solirubrobacter, Thermoleophilum, Sphingobacterium, Sphaerobacter, Streptococcus, Gemmatimonas, Methylobacterium, Microvirga, Sphingomonas, Massilia, Klebsiella, Acinetobacter, Los géneros más abundantes de hongos: Passalora, Lacazia, Anisomeridium, Poliblastia, Hypocrea, Verrucaria, Caloplaca, Chaetomella, Meyerozima, Humicola, Oxyporus, Coriolopsis, Rhodotorula, Sporidiobolus, Trichosporon, Mucor, Syncephalastrum. Superconductor-insulator quantum phase transition in a single Josephson junction

The superconductor-to-insulator quantum phase transition in resistively shunted Josephson junctions is investigated by means of path-integral Monte Carlo simulations. This numerical technique allows us to directly access the (previously unexplored) regime of the Josephson-to-charging energy ratios E_J/E_C of order one. Our results unambiguously support an earlier theoretical conjecture, based on renormalization-group calculations, that at T -> 0 the dissipative phase transition occurs at a universal value of the shunt resistance R_S = h/4e^2 for all values E_J/E_C. On the other hand, finite-temperature effects are shown to turn this phase transition into a crossover, which position depends significantly on E_J/E_C, as well as on the dissipation strength and on temperature. The latter effect needs to be taken into account in order to reconcile earlier theoretical predictions with recent experimental results.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figure

Identification, molecular and phylogenetic analysis of poxvirus in skin lesions of southern right whale

Poxvirus skin disease has been reported in several species of cetaceans, principally in odontocetes, and a single report in mysticetes. Southern right whales Eubalaena australis in Peninsula Valdes, Argentina, show a variety of skin lesions of unknown etiology, and the number of these lesions has increased in recent years. Samples from dead whales were taken in order to establish the etiology of these lesions. One calf and one adult presented ring-type lesions, characterized by a circumscribed and slightly raised area of skin. Lesions were histologically characterized by the presence of microvesicles and vacuolated cells in the stratum spinosum, along with hyperplasia of the stratum corneum and eosinophilic inclusion bodies in the cytoplasm of the epithelial cells. Transmission electron microscopy showed aggregations of virions with typical poxvirus morphology. PCR of cetacean poxvirus (CPV) DNA polymerase, DNA topoisomerase I and parapoxvirus DNA polymerase gene fragments was done, and confirmed the presence of poxvirus in one sample. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the detected poxvirus belongs to the CPV-2 group. This is the first confirmed report of poxvirus in southern right whales in Argentina.Fil: Fiorito, Carla Daniela. The Mid-Infrared Environments of High-Redshift Radio Galaxies

Taking advantage of the impressive sensitivity of Spitzer to detect massive galaxies at high redshift, we study the mid-infrared environments of powerful, high-redshift radio galaxies at 1.2<z<3. Galaxy cluster member candidates were isolated using a single Spitzer/IRAC mid-infrared color criterion, [3.6]-[4.5]>-0.1 (AB), in the fields of 48 radio galaxies at 1.2<z<3. This simple IRAC color selection is effective at identifying galaxies at z>1.2. Using a counts-in-cell analysis, we identify a field as overdense when 15 or more red IRAC sources are found within 1arcmin (i.e.,~0.5Mpc at 1.2<z<3) of the radio galaxy to the 5sigma flux density limits of our IRAC data (f3.6=11.0uJy, f4.5=13.4uJy). We find that radio galaxies lie preferentially in medium to dense regions, with 73% of the targeted fields denser than average. Our (shallow) 120s data permit the rediscovery of previously known clusters and protoclusters associated with radio galaxies as well as the discovery of new promising galaxy cluster candidates at z>1.2.Comment: 14 pages, 7 figures, 3 tables, accepted for publication in Ap

Wearable Urban Mobility Assistive Device for Visually Impaired Pedestrians Using a Smartphone and a Tactile-Foot Interface

This paper reports on the progress of a wearable assistive technology (AT) device designed to enhance the independent, safe, and efficient mobility of blind and visually impaired pedestrians in outdoor environments. Such device exploits the smartphone’s positioning and computing capabilities to locate and guide users along urban settings. The necessary navigation instructions to reach a destination are encoded as vibrating patterns which are conveyed to the user via a foot-placed tactile interface. To determine the performance of the proposed AT device, two user experiments were conducted. The first one requested a group of 20 voluntary normally sighted subjects to recognize the feedback provided by the tactile-foot interface. The results showed recognition rates over 93%. The second experiment involved two blind voluntary subjects which were assisted to find target destinations along public urban pathways. Results show that the subjects successfully accomplished the task and suggest that blind and visually impaired pedes-trians might find the AT device and its concept approach useful, friendly, fast to master, and easy to use
