We state a necessary and sufficient condition for equality of nonzero decomposable symmetrized tensors when the symmetrizer is associated to an irreducible character of the symmetric group of degree m.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Stability of generalized linear Weingarten hypersurfaces immersed in the Euclidean space

Given a positive function F defined on the unit Euclidean sphere and satisfying a suitable convexity condition, we consider, for hypersurfaces Mn immersed in the Euclidean space Rn+1, the so-called k-th anisotropic mean curvatures HF k, 0 ≤ k ≤ n. For fixed 0 ≤ r ≤ s ≤ n, a hypersurface Mn of Rn+1 is said to be (r, s, F)-linear Weingarten when its k-th anisotropic mean curvatures HF k, r ≤ k ≤ s, are linearly related. In this setting, we establish the concept of stability concerning closed (r, s, F)-linear Weingarten hypersurfaces immersed in Rn+1 and, afterwards, we prove that such a hypersurface is stable if, and only if, up to translations and homotheties, it is the Wulff shape of F. For r = s and F ≡ 1, our results amount to the standard stability studied, for instance, by Alencar-do Carmo-Rosenberg

The number of P-vertices in a matrix with maximum nullity

Let T be a tree with n >= 2 vertices. Set 8(T) for the set of all real symmetric matrices whose graph is T. Let A is an element of S(T) and i is an element of {1, . . . , n}. We denote by A(i) the principal submatrix of A obtained after deleting the row and column i. We set m(A) (0) for the multiplicity of the eigenvalue zero in A (the nullity of A). When m(A(i)) (0) = m(A) (0) + 1, we say that i is a P-vertex of A. As usual, M(T) denotes the maximum nullity occurring of B is an element of S(T). In this paper we determine an upper bound and a lower bound for the number of P-vertices in a matrix A is an element of S(T) with nullity M(T). We also prove that if the integer b is between these two bounds, then there is a matrix E is an element of S(T) with b P-vertices and maximum nullity. (C) 2018 Elsevier Inc. Influence of estimated training status on anti and pro-oxidant activity, nitrite concentration, and blood pressure in middle-aged and older women

The purpose of this study was to compare the association between anti and pro-oxidant activity, nitrite concentration, and blood pressure (BP) in middle-aged and older women with different levels of estimated training status (TS). The sample consisted of 155 females (50-84 years) who were submitted to a physical examination to evaluate estimated TS through the "Functional Fitness Battery Test," BP measurements, and plasma blood samples to evaluate pro-oxidant and antioxidant activity and nitrite concentrations. Participants were separated by age into a middle-aged group (< 65 years) and an older (≥65 years) group and then subdivided in each group according to TS. Blood biochemistry was similar between groups. On the other hand, protein oxidation was lower in participants with higher TS, independent of age. Older females with higher TS presented higher nitrite concentrations, lower lipoperoxidation, and lower values of BP compared with those with lower TS. Lower GPx activity was observed in participants with higher TS compared with middle-aged with lower TS. Thus, our results suggest that good levels of TS may be associated with lower oxidative stress and higher nitrite concentration and may contribute to maintain normal or reduced blood pressure values.Fil: Jacomini, André M..
