We prove that a boundary value problem for a semilinear wave equation with smooth nonlinearity, smooth forcing, and no resonance cannot have continuous solutions. Our proof shows that this is due to the non-monotonicity of the nonlinearity

Non Abelian TQFT and scattering of self dual field configuration

A non-abelian topological quantum field theory describing the scattering of self-dual field configurations over topologically non-trivial Riemann surfaces, arising from the reduction of 4-dim self-dual Yang-Mills fields, is introduced. It is shown that the phase space of the theory can be exactly quantized in terms of the space of holomorphic structures over stable vector bundles of degree zero over Riemann surfaces. The Dirac monopoles are particular static solutions of the field equations. Its relation to topological gravity is discussed.Comment: 13 pages, Late

Identificación de intención de movimiento de marcha sobre diferentes terrenos -una aproximación bioinspirada-

    Get PDF
We do this by identifying the user’s intention from the perception of both internal and external manifestations (to be explained into a next section) of Fixed Action Patterns (FAPs, by making use of artificial proprioception and exteroception of the prosthesis. The formalization of a General Expression of the Rhythmic Gesture, generation procedures for artificial FAPs, and a Response Algorithm for Gestures Development are presented. By identifying the user’s intention through proprioceptive and exteroceptive information, the prosthesis discriminates between repertories of artificial FAPs and chooses the most suitable one to meet the users’s requirements. Experimental data of tests carried out in healthy and amputee individuals showed high performance on identification (97.06 % of true identifications) of the user’s intention and good tracking of gestures such as gait, walking up stairs, down stairs, up hill and down hill, independently of the speed of execution of the gestur

Existence of Solutions for a Wave Equation with Non-monotone Nonlinearity and a Small Parameter

    Get PDF
We provide sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions to a semilinear wave equation with non-monotone nonlinearity involving a small parameter. Our results are based on the analysis of a an operator that characterizes the projection onto the kernel of the wave operator subject to periodic-Dirichlet boundary conditions. Such a kernel is infinite dimensional which makes standard compactness arguments inapplicable

    BRST Formulation of 4-Monopoles

    Get PDF
A supersymmetric gauge invariant action is constructed over any 4-dimensional Riemannian manifold describing Witten's theory of 4-monopoles. The topological supersymmetric algebra closes off-shell. The multiplets include the auxiliary fields and the Wess-Zumino fields in an unusual way, arising naturally from BRST gauge fixing. A new canonical approach over Riemann manifolds is followed, using a Morse function as an euclidean time and taking into account the BRST boundary conditions that come from the BFV formulation. This allows a construction of the effective action starting from gauge principles.Comment: 18 pages, Amste

A scientometric analysis of the investigation of biomass gasification environmental impacts from 2001 to 2017

    Get PDF
To reduce the effects of climate change due to massive CO 2 emissions, renewable energy sources have been implemented; among them biomass through gasification. An important aspect of studying are the environmental impacts of this process. Therefore, a search was made in the database of the science website using keywords gasification environmental impact in the period from 2001 to 2017. When analyzing the 238 articles, an increasing tendency was observed in the publication of studies related to the ecological effects of the biomass gasification process. The United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and the People’s Republic of China are the countries that have the most studies on the subject. The indicator total local citation score is used in order to identify the items that are the most cited, which indicates the degree of development they have in the study of the impacts of gasification

Customer Role In The Integration Of EVS With The Colombian Electricity Market

    Get PDF
Mass adoption EVs in Colombia, is presented as a necessary option not only to mitigate the impact of the transportation sector on the environment but to promote a more efficient vehicle fleet. The impact of EVs on the Colombian electricity sector is associated with the uncontrolled charging process of EVs, which ultimately results in high peaks in the demand curve. Therefore, the level of flexibility of user habits will be the key in the interaction of EVs with the grid. User can recharge the vehicle whenever he requires and only he will have control on it, if there is a regulatory scheme that defines it or a series of incentives that promotes the controlled charging. Currently, there is not any regulation which determines if the scheme of the electricity tariff will apply to EVs. This paper analyzes the requirements, user habits, the operation scheme of the Colombian electricity market and the possible solutions required to promote the adoption of EVs and to reduce the impacts of EVs on the electricity market and on the user economy
