El papel de los medios de comunicación en la Guerra de Vietnam

La información de guerra es uno de los campos del ejercicio periodístico que cuenta con más censura en nuestros días. Los gobiernos, administraciones militares y poderes económicos con intereses en la retaguardia han intentado mantenerla en el máximo secreto desde que se descubrieron los infames efectos que puede causar la opinión pública en un conflicto bélico. Por ello, este trabajo de fin de grado recorre la contienda que generó más polémica en torno a este tema: la Guerra de Vietnam. El conflicto del sudeste asiático supuso un antes y un después en la toma de conciencia de los gobiernos sobre el control de la información en los frentes y conflictos que tomaron lugar tras la Guerra Fría. La censura impuesta en las guerras que sucederían a la protagonista del trabajo sería fruto de una estrategia de los gobiernos estadounidenses que fue evolucionando para intentar evitar el espíritu de Vietnam, es decir, la presión de la opinión pública. Esta presión puede significar una derrota moral en una guerra ganada en el ámbito militar. Impacts of irrigation efficiency improvement on water use, water consumption and response to water price at field level

Increasing irrigation efficiency has been suggested as a solution in water scarce areas but its potential rebound effect (increased ex-post water consumption) is receiving growing attention; paradoxically, although improved irrigation efficiency may reduce water use, it may also increase water consumption. This paper presents a microeconomic analytical approach to assess the effects of water-saving investments and the resulting irrigation efficiency on water use and consumption at field level. Moreover, it analyses the relationship between irrigation efficiency, water demand and water pricing. Findings show that improving efficiency would significantly reduce water use, though the impact on water consumption would be negligible even if there is a radical increase in water cost. Thus, the potential rebound effect would not be related to irrigation efficiency, but rather to other factors such as irrigated area expansion, crop-mix changes, and market forces, which are out of the scope of this study

Protección y riesgos del derecho al honor, intimidad y propia imagen de los menores en las redes sociales

The present thesis exposes the insecurity and risks that arise for minors when they make use of social networks, taking as main affected the rights protected in article 18.1 of the Spanish Constitution: the right to honor, privacy and own image. The lack of knowledge and maturity that a minor certainly has on the dangers of the internet, in addition to the ease that exists to share content on social networks, causes a huge risk that can lead to the damage of these rights. The problem is not only the information that young people can spread on the Internet and that negatively affects their person, also the dangers that a third person wants to infer in the personal sphere of the child. It is for this reason that laws and jurisprudence must anticipate and guarantee the protection of these rights and the measures with which to solve and repair the damage caused if the damage has occurred.El presente trabajo expone la inseguridad y riesgos que se plantean para los menores de edad cuando hacen uso de las redes sociales, tomando como principales afectados los derechos amparados en el artículo 18.1 de la Constitución Española: el derecho al honor, a la intimidad y a la propia imagen. La falta de conocimiento y la ausencia de madurez que ciertamente tiene un menor de edad sobre los peligros de internet, además de la facilidad que existe para compartir contenidos en las redes sociales, puede provocar un enorme riesgo que puede desembocar en la vulneración de estos derechos. La cuestión no es sólo la información que los jóvenes puedan difundir por internet y que afecte negativamente a su persona, sino también el peligro de que un tercero infiera en la esfera personal del menor. Por este motivo que las leyes y la jurisprudencia deben garantizar la protección de estos derechos y las medidas con las cuales prevenir, y en su caso, reparar el daño causado si el perjuicio se ha producido

Framing Terminology: A Process-Oriented Approach

The frame notion used in Frame Semantics can be traced to case frames, which were said to characterize a small abstract situation in such a way that if one wished to understand the semantic structure of a verb it was necessary to understand the properties of the entire scene that it activated. A frame has been more broadly defined as any system of concepts related in such a way that one concept evokes the entire system. In this sense, it bears an obvious affinity with terminology, which is also based on such conceptual organization. However, despite the fact that Frame Semantics has been usefully applied to lexicology and syntax, so far it has not been systematically applied to terminology.This paper argues for a frame-based organization of specialized fields in which a dynamic process-oriented frame provides the conceptual underpinnings for the location of sub-hierarchies of concepts within a specialized domain event, and the elaboration of a definition template, thus opening the door to a more adequate representation of specialized fields as well as supplying a better way of linking terms to concepts. The domain of coastal engineering is used as an example because the entities in play take part in processes that are difficult to describe only by means of conceptual trees. Through the use of corpus data we demonstrate how it is possible to represent such an event and create a dynamic frame which enriches and enhances the understanding of specialized field concepts.La notion de schéma utilisée dans la Sémantique des schémas est dérivée des grammaires des cas, qui étaient censées caractériser une petite situation abstraite de telle sorte que, si on souhaitait comprendre la structure sémantique d’un verbe, il était nécessaire de comprendre les propriétés de la scène entière qu’il activait. Un schéma a été défini plus amplement comme tout système de concepts mis en rapport de telle sorte qu’un concept évoque le système entier. Dans ce sens, il a une affinité évidente avec la terminologie, qui est également basée sur cette organisation conceptuelle. Néanmoins, bien que la Sémantique des schémas ait été appliquée à la lexicologie et à la syntaxe, jusqu’ici elle n’a pas été systématiquement appliquée à la terminologie.Ce document présente des arguments en faveur d’une organisation de domaines spécialisés s’appuyant sur des schémas, où un schéma dynamique et orienté sur les processus fournit le soutien conceptuel pour la localisation de sous-hiérarchies de concepts dans un événement de domaine spécialisé; l’élaboration d’un modèle de définition, permettant une représentation plus appropriée des domaines spécialisés et fournissant une meilleure façon de lier les termes avec les concepts. Le domaine de l’ingénierie côtière est utilisé comme exemple parce que les entités en jeu participent dans des processus qui sont difficiles à décrire au seul moyen des arbres conceptuels. Par l’utilisation des données de corpus nous démontrons comment il est possible de représenter cet événement et de créer un cadre dynamique qui enrichit et améliore le sens de la compréhension des concepts des domaines spécialisés

Effects of the Irrigation Modernization in Spain 2002-2015

Regions and basins suffering from water scarcity have promoted the modernization of irrigation systems, defined as irrigation efficiency enhancement as a measure for the adaptation to a growing demand and a limited supply of water resources. In the period 2002–2015, Spain carried out an intense irrigation modernization process with the aim of achieving significant water savings and higher flexibility and to guarantee supply, among other favourable outcomes (e.g. environmental and socio-economic). Nevertheless, certain unfavourable effects of irrigation modernization also need to be discussed. This study analyses these effects in Spain based upon a DPSIR (Driving forces, Pressures, States, Impacts, and Responses) framework and a wide-ranging review of the existing empirical literature. Our findings are highly relevant to inform decision-makers in the planning of future irrigation modernization programmes worldwide

Kamishibai: Leyendas Guanches en la Educación Primaria

En el marco de Educación Primaria en Canarias son bastantes los recursos didácticos que se pueden encontrar a la hora de presentar el estilo de vida de los antiguos pobladores de las Islas Canarias. Sobre este tema existen a su vez diversas formas de presentar la narración de leyendas que tratan exclusivamente sobre los antiguos pobladores. Se han creado cuentos ilustrados, historias breves, poesías, etc. Pero no se ha trabajado con una técnica de reconocido éxito utilizada en la actualidad como herramienta de cuentacuentos: el Kamishibai. Pues es aquí donde surge una posibilidad atractiva de acercar al alumnado de Educación Primaria hasta la vida y costumbre de los antiguos canarios enmarcando dicha oportunidad en las áreas de Ciencias Sociales y Lengua Castellana y Literatura. Presento una propuesta didáctica basada en la creación de un material didáctico con temática de una leyenda de los antiguos pobladores de Canarias, cuyo formato narrativo es la técnica japonesa de contar cuentos Kamishibai.Within the framework of Primary Education in the Canary Islands, there are many didactic resources that can be found when presenting the lifestyle of the ancient inhabitants of the Canary Islands. On this subject there are in turn different ways of presenting the narrative of legends that deal exclusively with the ancient settlers. Illustrated stories, short stories, poems, etc. have been created. But it has not worked with a technique of recognized success used nowadays as a tool of storytelling: the Kamishibai. It is here that an attractive possibility arises to bring the students of Primary Education up to the life and custom of the old Canarian framing this opportunity in the areas of Social Sciences and Spanish Language and Literature. I present a didactic proposal based on the creation of a didactic material with the theme of a legend of the ancient inhabitants of the Canary Islands, whose narrative format is the Japanese Kamishibai storytelling technique
