Higher School Faculty Staff in the Era of Digitization: Teaching's Activities Transformation and Problems of Professional Adaptation

This article is devoted to the study of the higher educational institutions teachers’ professional adaptation problem in the context of digitalization. The purpose of this research is to analyze the main changes in the higher education staff’s professional activities due to the digitalization of education, as well as the problems of a university’ staff adaptation to these changes. The relevance of the study is justified by the fact that the effectiveness of the implementation of information and digital technologies in the educational process largely depends on the success of the university staff’s professional adaptation. The main methods of empirical research were students’ questioning and semi-formalized interviews with the university staff. The study was carried out on the basis of Khakass State University in 2019 with the financial support of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research as part of scientific project No. 18-011-00681 A. 500 students and 39 teachers were interviewed (N = 539). The study has found that teaching in digitalization is experiencing a serious sociocultural transformation in addition to technological changes. Information and digital technologies form new principles for organizing the educational process, new forms of teacher communication with students and colleagues, new sociocultural environment of the university and, ultimately, a new role for the teacher in modern education. The study revealed that the digitalization of education entailed significant changes in all types of a university staff’s professional activities — pedagogical, scientific and scientific-methodological. The main difficulties in the university staff’s professional adaptation are associated with insufficient material and technical equipment of universities, constantly increasing actual load, low level of information culture and computer literacy. As a result of the study, it was found that university staff misunderstands the very phenomenon of education digitalization, referring to informatization and computerization, that, of course, prevents the successful implementation and effective use of digital technologies in education. Architecture as Memory: Gothic Ruins in the Work of Lyonel Feininger, 1928-1953

In the summer of 1928 Lyonel Feininger made his first drawings of the ruins of a local church in the German village of Hoff. Through a series of happenstance episodes these Gothic ruins grew to haunt the artist’s entire body of work: across various media (pencil, watercolor, ink, oil), across space (in person from the Baltic coast, and later in New York from memory), and time (the motif spans three crucial decades of the artist’s career). While everything else in Feininger’s life was sent into a chaotic flurry – the banning of his works by the Weimar government, shutdown of the Bauhaus, forced exile from Germany – the visual motif of the ruins of Hoff remained a dependable constant. In the meantime, the image of the abandoned church took on polyphonic layers of meaning, an avenue for the artist to reflect on his own sense of belonging to the German culture, on the evolving definition of what that culture meant amid the rise of nationalistic sentiments, and on its ramifications for the private life of his family. This essay attempts to reconstruct those layers of meaning through first-hand encounters with the artist’s letters from the archive, his drawings, and reminiscences of his wife and son

Magnetic structure and phase diagram of TmB4

Magnetic structure of single crystalline TmB4 has been studied by magnetization, magnetoresistivity and specific heat measurements. A complex phase diagram with different antiferromagnetic (AF) phases was observed below TN1 = 11.7 K. Besides the plateau at half-saturated magnetization (1/2 MS), also plateaus at 1/9, 1/8 and 1/7 of MS were observed as function of applied magnetic field B//c. From additional neutron scattering experiments on TmB4, we suppose that those plateaus arise from a stripe structure which appears to be coherent domain boundaries between AF ordered blocks of 7 or 9 lattice constants. The received results suggest that the frustration among the Tm3+ magnetic ions, which maps to a geometrically frustrated Shastry-Sutherland lattice lead to strong competition between AF and ferromagnetic (FM) order. Thus, stripe structures in intermediate field appear to be the best way to minimize the magnetostatic energy against other magnetic interactions between the Tm ions combined with very strong Ising anisotropy.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, conference contribution - CSMAG 0

Explanatory possibilities of theoretical economics for the behavior of the modern consumer and its changes during the COVID-19 pandemic are used. Transformations of needs and priorities of consumers are revealed on the basis of statistical observations of structural changes in expenses of domestic households.
