Applications of magnetostrictive materials in the real-time monitoring of vehicle suspension components

The purpose of this project is to explore applications of magnetostrictive materials for real-time monitoring of railroad suspension components, in particular bearings. Monitoring of such components typically requires the tracking of temperature vibration and load. In addition, real-time, long-term monitoring can be greatly facilitated through the use of wireless, self-powered sensors. Magnetostrictive materials, such as Terfenol-D, have the potential to address both requirements. Currently, piezoelectrics are used for many load and energy harvesting applications; however, they are fragile and are difficult to use for static load measurements. Magnetostrictive metals are tougher, and their property of variable permeability when stressed can be utilized to measure static loads. A prototype load sensor was successfully fabricated and characterized yielding less than 10% error under normal operating conditions. Energy harvesting experiments generated a little over 80 mW of power, which is sufficient to run low-power condition monitoring systems

Gestión estratégica de recursos humanos y estrés laboral en navegantes de empresa pesquera del Callao - 2020

La investigación tiene como objetivo principal la relación que existe entre la gestión estratégica de recursos humanos con el estrés laboral en navegantes de empresa pesquera del Callao, 2020, para la realización de la investigación se aplicó un método de estudio de tipo no-experimental y diseño descriptivo-correlacional, para establecer el efecto que causan las variables dependiente e independiente; la población de estudio fue conformada por 10 trabajadores del área de recursos humanos y 101 navegantes de la empresa pesquera seleccionados mediante un muestreo por conveniencia. Para la recolección se empleó el cuestionario de gestión estratégica de recursos humanos y estrés laboral elaborado mediante el Software Google Forms. Los resultados encontrados es que el nivel de estrategia de RH del personal reflejó un 80% con nivel medio, el 10% obtuvo un nivel bajo y un 10% obtuvo nivel alto. Asimismo, el nivel de estrés laboral mostro un 52% con nivel bajo, el 27% obtuvo un nivel medio y un 19% un nivel bajo. Mediante el análisis de correlación Rho de Spearman, se obtuvo un valor p=0.383, mayor que el nivel de confianza p<=0.05, por lo tanto, no se acepta la hipótesis nula; además, existe una baja positiva correlación entre la gestión de estrategia de recursos humanos y estrés laboral del personal de la Empresa Pesquera del Callao, al contar con un coeficiente de (Rho= .038). Las conclusiones a las que se llegaron en el estudio fue que se evidencia una correlación positiva baja entre la variable independiente y dependiente establecidas en la investigación.The main objective of the research is the relationship that exists between the strategic management of human resources with the work stress in sailors of the Callao fishing company, 2020, to carry out the research a non-experimental study method and design was applied descriptivecorrelational, to establish the effect caused by the dependent and independent variables; The study population was made up of 10 workers from the human resources area and 101 sailors from the fishing company selected through convenience sampling to whom a questionnaire was administered to collect the data that was sought; the results indicate that there is a relationship between the work stress variable and the dimensions of the HR strategic management variable, where a coefficient was shown in the admission of person (0.865), organization of person (-0.601), compensation and maintenance of people of (0.435), training and development of person (-0.852) and evaluation of people obtained a coefficient (1.000); in conclusion, we can affirm that there is a positive correlation between the strategic management of human resources with the work stress in sailors of the Callao fishing company, being the level of bilateral significance p = 0.159 <0.05 (highly significant), therefore , the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted.Tesi

Energy Harvesting Potential of Terfenol-D for On-Board Bearing Health Monitoring Applications

One of the limiting factors in on-board bearing health monitoring systems is the life of the batteries used to power the system. Thus, any device that can extend the life of the battery, or entirely replace it, is a notable improvement on any currently available systems. Existing on-board monitoring systems, not optimized for low power, are designed to run on approximately 300 mW of power. Current bearing health monitoring systems have proven effective with as few as one reading every four minutes. The environment under which railroad bearings operate is a harsh one, making most forms of energy harvesting very hard to implement. Terfenol-D is a novel and sustainable solution for this problem due to its durable characteristics and strong magnetostriction. A fixture is designed using multiple magnets of ranging magnetization to properly characterize energy harvesting using Terfenol-D. The maximum available power observed during these experiments is about 77 mW under ideal conditions. The generated power is sufficient to run low-power bearing health monitoring systems

El merchandising como estrategia del marketing de retail y su influencia en la decisión de compra de los clientes del segmento B de Plaza Vea del distrito de Trujillo - 2016

El presente estudio es sobre “El merchandising como estrategia del marketing de retail y su influencia en la decisión de compra de los clientes del segmento B de Plaza Vea del distrito de Trujillo”, tuvo como objet ivo general: Determinar la influencia del merchandising en la decisión de compra de los clientes de Plaza vea en el segmento B del distrito de Trujillo. El problema de investigación está referido a la siguiente interrogante: ¿De qué manera influye el merchandising como estrategia de marketing de retail en la decisión de compra de los clientes de plaza vea del segmento B en el distrito de Trujillo? Y cuya hipótesis fue “El merchandising como estrategia de marketing de retail influye de manera positiva en la decisión de compra de los clientes de Plaza Vea del segmento B del distrito de Trujillo”, destacando como variables de estudio: Variable Dependiente: Decisión de Compra; y, Variable Independiente: El merchandising como estrategia del marketing de retail El diseño de la investigación fue explicativo causal, la población de objeto de estudio está conformada por un promedio de visitas al mes de los clientes del Segmento B de la empresa Plaza Vea, de los cuales nos dieron información de 500 personas, a partir de la cual se estableció una muestra representativa de 217 clientes, el tipo de muestreo fue probabilístico, empleando la técnica de la encuesta y como instrumento el cuestionario. La contrastación de hipótesis nos ha permitido conocer que si existe una influencia positiva del merchandising en la decisión de compra de los clientes., demostrando la hipótesis mediante la prueba estadística CHI- CUADRADO. Aplicación de la estrategia de mantenimiento preventivo de cilindros hidráulicos para incrementar la disponibilidad de las excavadoras pc-4000 Komatsu 2019

El presente desarrollo de tesis titulada aplicación de la estrategia de mantenimiento preventivo de cilindros hidráulicos para incrementar la disponibilidad de las excavadoras PC-4000 Komatsu 2019. La empresa cuenta con cuatro excavadoras frontales y dos retroexcavadoras las cuales son equipos de alta criticidad que brindan servicio en el área de carga de mineral. La empresa estaba efectuando mantenimientos correctivos hacia los componentes que viene a ser los cilindros hidráulicos debido a la garantía que tiene estos componentes a pesar que son de alta criticidad, pues al no realizar mantenimiento preventivo hacia estos equipos es por ellos que las maquinas se averían en tiempos improvistos y así la vida de estos componentes son cada vez más cortos. Se obtuvo como resultados, a través de la auditoria, que la gestión de mantenimiento evidencia un valor de 77%. El índice de conformidad indica que está en un nivel aceptable, pero puede mejorar. Posteriormente, se diagnosticó la disponibilidad inicial de los equipos y obteniendo un valor general de 77%. Después de la aplicación de la planificación del mantenimiento preventivo, se pudo obtener un incremento en la disponibilidad final de los componentes, dando como resultado general 83 %. Es así que se puede concluir que, gracias a la planificación del mantenimiento preventivo, la disponibilidad tuvo un incremento de 6%. Se realizó un diagnóstico a través de técnicas e instrumentos utilizando herramientas especializadas, que no se requiere detener el equipo o interrumpir su producción, puesto que se realizará en tiempos muertos que son ventanas de oportunidades que serán muy provechosas como son: • Abastecimiento de combustible de 15 a 20min. • Relevo de operadores por almuerzo de 10 a 15min. • Equipos en Stand-by (tiempo según requiera la minera puede ser de 1h a 12hrs.) • Arreglo de piso de excavadoras con equipos de apoyo auxiliares de 10 a 15min. • Cambio de guardias de 30 a 45min. Tiempo necesario en el cual 5 técnicos en una camioneta con check list, insumos herramientas e instrumentos, podrán efectuar el diagnostico efectivo y preciso para poder realizar un adecuado levantamiento de observaciones y posteriormente reunirse con los jefes de mantenimiento y de operaciones mina, y así poder realizar una adecuada programación de mantenimiento programado

Compromiso laboral y su incidencia en el desempeño de los profesionales de la Unidad de Economía del Hospital San Juan de Lurigancho, periodo 2020

La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar la incidencia del compromiso laboral en el desempeño de los profesionales de la Unidad de Economía del Hospital San Juan de Lurigancho, periodo 2020. Para lo cual empleó una metodología de enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo aplicada, de diseño no experimental-transversal y de alcance explicativo, a una muestra de 58 profesionales, que actualmente se encuentran laborando en la Unidad de Economía del Hospital San Juan de Lurigancho. Los resultados permitieron establecer que el compromiso laboral que se practica en la Unidad de Economía bajo la percepción de los profesionales fue fuerte con 41.4% mientras que el desempeño laboral que se practica en el centro de salud fue alto con 46.6%. Los resultados comparativos entre el compromiso laboral y el desempeño laboral en el centro de salud se tuvieron que el 41.4% de los encuestados perciben que el nivel fue fuerte en cuanto al compromiso organizacional por lo que el nivel fue alto en el desempeño laboral. Finalmente, se comprobó a través del coeficiente de determinación R2 con valor más alto es el que corresponde a Nagelkerke (0.767), estimando en 76.7% la incidencia que genera el compromiso laboral en el desempeño laboral. En conclusión el compromiso laboral incide en el desempeño laboral de los profesionales de la Unidad de Economía del Hospital San Juan de Lurigancho en el periodo 2020.The objective of this research was to analyze the incidence of work commitment in the performance of the professionals of the Economics Unit of the Hospital San Juan de Lurigancho, period 2020. For which he used a methodology of quantitative approach, of an applied type, of non-experimental-transversal design and of explanatory scope, to a sample of 58 professionals, who are currently working in the Economics Unit of the San Juan de Lurigancho Hospital. The results allowed to establish that the work commitment practiced in the Economics Unit under the perception of the professionals was strong with 41.4% while the work performance practiced in the health center was high with 46.6%. The comparative results between work commitment and work performance in the health center had that 41.4% of those surveyed perceive that the level was strong in terms of organizational commitment, so the level was high in work performance. Finally, it was verified through the determination coefficient R2 with the highest value that corresponds to Nagelkerke (0.767), estimating in 76.7% the incidence generated by work commitment in work performance. A fast refill of the Mediterranean after the Messinian salinity crisis? Looking for independent evidence

One of the main competing scenarios proposed for the termination of the Messinian salinity crisis consists of a geologically-rapid refill of the Mediterranean after a km-scale drawdown of the Mediterranean Sea level. The main evidence supporting this Zanclean Flood scenario is a nearly 400 km long and several hundred meters deep erosion channel across the Strait of Gibraltar. This erosion channel extends from the Gulf of Cadiz to the Algerian Basin and implies the excavation of ca. 1000 km3 of Miocene sediment and older bedrock. However, additional evidence supporting this catastrophic flood hypothesis is missing, other than the fast transition from MSC deposits to open-marine facies. Here we test two consequences that an outburst flood of the Mediterranean should imply: First, an excavated channel similar to the one across the Gibraltar Strait should be present in the old sill separating the east and west Mediterranean domains (none has been yet reported). A second smoking gun would be finding the present emplacement of the materials eroded during the Zanclean flood (but quantitative predictions of where to look for them are still missing).peer-reviewe
