    Get PDF

    Get PDF

    Qubit authentication

    Get PDF
Secure communication requires message authentication. In this paper we address the problem of how to authenticate quantum information sent through a quantum channel between two communicating parties with the minimum amount of resources. Specifically, our objective is to determine whether one elementary quantum message (a qubit) can be authenticated with a key of minimum length. We show that, unlike the case of classical-message quantum authentication, this is not possible.Comment: LaTeX, 8 page

Educational trends in special education in Spain : the case of the deaf

    Get PDF
Following a brief account of Education and Special Education in Spain, I will start the paper by pointing out the different views of understanding deafness, both in hearing and deaf people. I shall then focus on the Spanish situation regarding the education models for the deaf, drawing a distinction between models regarding language (oralism vs. bilingualism) and models regarding education (special education vs. inclusive education), The paper will end with a vision of the education for the deaf paying special attention to the fact that school teachers and administrators have a very early and intense role in the lives of deaf children. It will point out that early intervention is a desirable goal, but carries some dangers regarding deaf children's social and emotional development.peer-reviewe

Probabilistic Bounds on the Length of a Longest Edge in Delaunay Graphs of Random Points in d-Dimensions

Motivated by low energy consumption in geographic routing in wireless networks, there has been recent interest in determining bounds on the length of edges in the Delaunay graph of randomly distributed points. Asymptotic results are known for random networks in planar domains. In this paper, we obtain upper and lower bounds that hold with parametric probability in any dimension, for points distributed uniformly at random in domains with and without boundary. The results obtained are asymptotically tight for all relevant values of such probability and constant number of dimensions, and show that the overhead produced by boundary nodes in the plane holds also for higher dimensions. To our knowledge, this is the first comprehensive study on the lengths of long edges in Delaunay graphsComment: 10 pages. 2 figures.

Our study looks at how multinational corporations use and manage the international mobility of their employees. More specifically, we sought to determine to which extent multinationals consider their international management strategy in deciding how to use the expatriation managed through international mobility programs. Although the main purpose of our research is to observe the influence of the international management strategy on these programs, we also sought to identify other characteristics of each firm and its environment that may influence them. Our study, conducted among HR professionals responsible for management of international mobility, intended, in a first step, to identify the type of international management strategy favored by firms and the approach to international management of human resources they lead to. In a second step, we sought to identify the type of international mobility program in place in each firm from the analysis of their components (HR policies and practices). We drew two main conclusions of our study. First, international mobility, especially expatriation, is still an important tool for growth and survival of multinational corporations. Second, multinational corporations use expatriation differently depending on their strategic objectives and manage it very pragmatically, taking into account a variety of factors including the number of expatriates, the managerial culture of the company, the characteristics of their industry, their experience and difficulties encountered during the journey

Teaching based on the case method of building collective protection

One of the fundamental aspects in the adaptation of the teaching to the European higher education is changing based models of teacher education to models based on student learning. In this work we present an educational experience developed with the teaching method based on the case method, with a clearly multidisciplinary. The experience has been developed in the teaching of analysis and verification of safety rails. This is a multidisciplinary field that presents great difficulties during their teaching. The use of the case method has given good results in the competences achieved by student
