SEASONAL MIGRATION OF RETIREES: A REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE
Anecdotes suggest that tourism experiences may affect the migration decisions of retirees. Seasonal migration by retirees may be an intermediate step between tourism and permanent migration. A review of the literature on seasonal migration finds that some seasonal migrants become permanent migrants. In general, seasonal and permanent migrants come from two separate migration streams and are two different lifestyles. Seasonal migration generally does not lead to permanent migration.Resource /Energy Economics and Policy,
TOURISM AND RETIREMENT MIGRATION
Anecdotes suggest that tourism may play a role in the decision of retirees to migrate. This paper reviews the literature to determining if research supports the anecdotal evidence. Much of the literature on retiree migration only superficially addresses this issue, and thus cannot be viewed as definitive. This literature does not suggest a strong link between tourism and later migration decisions. There is a small body of research that directly specifically addresses this issue. This research is carefully designed, based on a migration decision-making framework. It does show that tourism experiences have an impact at several stages in the decision process. Tourism experiences are used both to identify and eliminate potential locations.Resource /Energy Economics and Policy,
Climate Change: One Prospective
Climate change is a global danger arising from our own actions, constantly evolving from its own effects. This research will focus on the implications of Climate Change; the CO2 emissions into the atmosphere through the generation of energy and meat consumption; the acidification of the ocean; and the gradual innovation of alternative sources of energy. Ways to mitigate need to be implemented and the population needs to be educated on the subject. For a better world and our safe future we must create a plan of action
Prevalencia de Caries y Pérdida de Dientes en Población de 65 a 74 Años de Santiago, Chile
AbstractObjectivesTo measure prevalence of caries and tooth loss among low and middle-low socio-economic level elderly from Santiago, Chile.MethodsProportionate stratified probabilistic sampling techniques; sample of 109 people (74 women and 35 men) aged 65 to 74. Data gathered by means of a face-to-face questionnaire. Informed consent was obtained; individuals were examined by a calibrated dentist. The study was carried out from March to December 2008. Data analysis considered chi-square and ANOVA.ResultsDMFT was 24.9 (CI: 23.83; 25.96). All the individuals had caries experience; 45.9% had active caries lesions. The mean of non-treated active caries lesions was 0.9 per individual. Concerning prosthesis, 38.5% of individuals were found to use removable prosthesis and 15 people (13.76%) were edentulous.ConclusionsThe size of the gap and the importance of social environment on damaging oral health should lead to face this problem from a wider perspective of social determinants of health when building public policies
Prospects from TESS and Gaia to constrain the flatness of planetary systems
The mutual inclination between planets orbiting the same star provides key
information to understand the formation and evolution of multi-planet systems.
In this work, we investigate the potential of Gaia astrometry in detecting and
characterizing cold Jupiters in orbits exterior to the currently known TESS
planet candidates. According to our simulations, out of the systems
expected to have cold Jupiter companions, Gaia, by its nominal 5-year mission,
should be able to detect cold Jupiters and measure the orbital
inclinations with a precision of in of them.
These numbers are estimated under the assumption that the orbital orientations
of the CJs follow an isotropic distribution, but these only vary slightly for
less broad distributions. We also discuss the prospects from radial velocity
follow-ups to better constrain the derived properties and provide a package to
do quick forecasts using our Fisher matrix analysis. Overall, our simulations
show that Gaia astrometry of cold Jupiters orbiting stars with TESS planets can
distinguish dynamically cold (mean mutual inclination ) from
dynamically hot systems (mean mutual inclination ), placing a
new set of constraints on their formation and evolution.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures. Under review at AJ, after 1st round of referee

Warehouse management model using FEFO, 5s, and chaotic storage to improve product loading times in small- and medium-sized non-metallic mining companies
This article addresses one of the main problems faced by small- and medium-sized business in the non-metallic mining sector in Peru. These companies own warehouses and face the major problem of failing to deliver orders correctly and in a timely manner. This problem usually occurs when the business grows from a small- to medium-sized company in a short span of time; this situation leads to new processes within warehouses that are mostly not standardized. Besides, facilities are no longer optimal in space and the workers are not properly trained. The case study shows that the orders were not delivered on time due to factors such as lack of product identification, although the products have an expiration date and a warehouse without signaling and surrounded by traffic. To tackle this situation, a labeling process has been designed for the products, an adequate distribution technique is used in the warehouse through a newly designed warehouse layout, and a First Expired, First Out system has been implemented. Similarly, the design is accompanied by the 5s tool to provide a basis for order and continuous improvement. The results show that deliveries with delays were reduced from 38% to 10%. These results show that companies can grow rapidly and maintain quality of service through orderly management
EPIC247098361b: a transiting warm Saturn on an eccentric days orbit around a star
We report the discovery of EPIC247098361b using photometric data of the
Kepler K2 satellite coupled with ground-based spectroscopic observations.
EPIC247098361b has a mass of M M, a radius of
R R, and a moderately low equilibrium temperature of
K due to its relatively large star-planet separation of
AU. EPIC247098361b orbits its bright () late F-type host star
in an eccentric orbit () every 11.2 days, and is one of only
four well characterized warm Jupiters having hosts stars brighter than .
We estimate a heavy element content of 20 7 M for
EPIC247098361b, which is consistent with standard models of giant planet
formation. The bright host star of EPIC247098361b makes this system a well
suited target for detailed follow-up observations that will aid in the study of
the atmospheres and orbital evolution of giant planets at moderate separations
from their host stars.Comment: 11 pages, 10 figures, submitted to MNRA
