This article offers an analysis circumscribed to the survival of The Golden Ass in The Dialogue of the Dogs. This main classical source for Cervantes has its correspondence, in addition, in Luciano’s creative imaginary. This aesthetic syncretism sheds light, finally, on the symbolic culture of Cervantes from conceptual categories such as metamorphosis and transformations.El presente artículo ofrece un análisis circunscrito a la pervivencia de El Asno de oro en El Coloquio de los perros. Esta fuente clásica principal para Cervantes entra en correspondencia, además, con el imaginario creativo de Luciano. Dicho sincretismo estético arroja luz, en fin, sobre la cultura simbólica de Cervantes a partir de categorías conceptuales como metamorfosis y transformaciones

Cuidando el son por ósmosis: Tejada a la luz de Alberti, Lorca y Falla (con Coplas del agua inéditas y un romance contaminado por La mala hierba)

This chapter offers a monographic analysis of Cuidemos este son (Poesía flamenca), posthumous work by José Luis Tejada (1927-1988). In this way, in light of the neotraditionalist wake of Alberti, Lorca and Falla, the fundamental keys of this book of poems are contextualized in the writer’s career, with special attention to the period between the 1960s and the 1980s. In these years, as a protohistory of Cuidemos este son, the books Para andar conmigo (1962) and Del río de mi olvido (1978) acquire remarkable relevance, in addition to the unpublished composition of 1986 Coplas del agua, con Pablo (Ósmosis), which treasures a final coda for seguiriyas. Finally, it is highlighted how the Cádiz-born author was not only an expert in flamenco but also in other formalizations of the popular songbook and of the oral tradition, especially the romances, which they experienced as well, as in the Puerto de Santa María in certain versions, an aflamencamiento process beyond folklore. In fact, in connection with his flamenco poetry, we study the version transmitted by Tejada of the romance about Delgadita and La infanta preñada contaminated with that of La mala hierba.El presente capítulo ofrece un análisis monográfico de Cuidemos este son (Poesía flamenca), obra póstuma de José Luis Tejada (1927-1988). De esta manera, al trasluz de la estela neotradicionalista de Alberti, Lorca y Falla, se contextualizan las claves fundamentales de este poemario en la trayectoria del escritor, con especial atención al período comprendido entre las décadas de los sesenta y ochenta. En estos años, como protohistoria de Cuidemos este son, cobran notoria relevancia los libros Para andar conmigo (1962) y Del río de mi olvido (1978), además de la composición inédita de 1986 Coplas del agua, con Pablo (Ósmosis), que atesora una coda final por seguiriyas. Por último, se pone de relieve cómo el autor gaditano no sólo fue un experto conocedor del flamenco sino también de otras formalizaciones del cancionero popular y de la tradición oral, especialmente de los romances, que experimentaron también, como sucedió en el Puerto de Santa María en determinadas versiones, un proceso de aflamencamiento más allá del folclore. De hecho, en conexión con su poesía flamenca, se estudia la versión transmitida por Tejada del romance sobre Delgadita y La infanta preñada contaminada, en fin, con La mala hierba.   &nbsp

Characterization and Melodic Similarity of A Cappella Flamenco Cantes

This paper intends to research on the link between musical similarity and style and sub-style (variant) classification in the context of flamenco a cappella singing styles. Given the limitation of standard computational models for melodic characterization and similarity computation in this particular context, we have proposed a specific set of melodic features adapted to flamenco singing styles. In order to evaluate them, we have gathered a collection of music recordings from the most representative singers and have manually extracted those proposed features. Based on those features, we have defined a similarity measure between two performances and have validated their usefulness in differentiating several styles and variants. The main conclusion of this work is the need to incorporate specific musical features to the design of similarity measures for flamenco music so that flamencoadapted MIR systems can be develope

In specialized studies on Flamenco, a line of research circumscribed to the translation and intersection of aesthetic codes between literature, music and performing arts stands out due to its presence and notoriety. In this sense, technical analysis in the light of interdisciplinary comparison is an optimal methodological vehicle to understand the multiple edges that such a complex, multifaceted and reticular object of study treasures. For these reasons, the advances and epistemological and gnoseological contributions that are offered in this special issue, regarding the state of the art, shed light, in short, on new paths and untrodden paths for the purposes of critical perspectives.En los estudios especializados en flamenco, sobresale, por su presencia y notoriedad, una línea de investigación circunscrita a la traducción e intersección de códigos estéticos entre literatura, música y artes escénicas. En este sentido, el análisis técnico a la luz del comparatismo interdisciplinar resulta un vehículo metodológico óptimo para comprender las múltiples aristas que tan complejo objeto de estudio poliédrico y reticular atesora. Comparative Melodic Analysis of A Cappella Flamenco Cantes.

Background in ethnomusicology and music analysis. A cappella singing styles (called cantes in the flamenco jargon) are among the most fundamental song styles within the flamenco repertoire. Until very recently, flamenco singers have been only using oral transmission to learn them. Because of this form of diffusion, melody has become one of the main musical facets to be listened to, remembered, elaborated and spread in flamenco singing styles. Moreover, melody has helped flamenco enthusiasts to remember and identify variants of a particular style or genre. A frequent discussion and unanswered question among flamenco scholars is how to quantify the similarity between two melodies, and how to use this similarity measure to differentiate different styles and variants among performers, and to study the roots and evolution of flamenco styles
