Collective Intelligence - Consenting to Conscient Consultation

Google, Facebook, Amazon, Wikipedia, Spotify, Netflix, Apple, Samsung, Microsoft, Disney, Uber, Tinder, etc.: ours is the generation that has got a World Wide Web to their fingertips; in addition, we often feel like the net has analogously become a kind of add-on to our minds, i.e., an extension to our intellectual capacity. Browsing on the internet, emailing, skyping, googling, chatting, posting texts, photos or videos on social media, whilst interacting with contents that can be as informative as the news broadcast and as entertaining as playing videogames or streaming music, films, and series via applications (apps) downloaded on smart devices have thus been gradually becoming some of our generation’s daily activities of choice. Along these lines, whilst meaning to conceptualise a method for studying an alternative to our present-day prescriptive educational practices, I elaborate a constructivist approach towards the transformative paradigm of a transmedia-interactive produsage. That is, in this MA Thesis I propose the produsage of a cyclic program in which educators could cooperatively consent on a conscient consultation of their prodused contents in a knowledge democratisation exercise. These experts could thereby participate on the mediation, moderation, and mediatisation of a (n)ethnographic e-volution on the road to a sociocultural empowerment and a civic emancipation movement, striving for critical reforms that would pursue the autonomous automatisation of self-regulatory socio-cultures. Comparatively, from this study’s standpoint, the arguably participative factor of the existing Participatory Web resembles the speculative political empowerment triggered by the act of voting for a political candidate: because, in both cases, the options presented to the public regularly are pre-established by the few de facto empowered decision-makers, like e.g., the heads of political parties and coalitions on one hand, or content writers and producers on another. Alternatively, in this thesis I will look into concealed alternatives for (or, preferably, against) what has gradually developed into the modus operandi of media and technology businesses: the monetisation of information by the commodification of produsers. More specifically, I hope to analyse if, inasmuch as ICTs have been democratising knowledge, they also have been contributing to the prospective quest for more maximalist, and collective, forms of participation during our (Western societies’) history. Notwithstanding, this thesis is a theoretical study, and therefore, here I will not present an empirical example of such educative interaction: which I deliberately call eduraction. Appropriately, because the academia continuously gains new insights with the intersection and compilation of our human cognition, – viz., with our collective intelligence (CI) – I understand that constructivist edutainment and pedagogical participation practices can be interchangeably employed towards a civic engagement – as presented in this thesis’ results. Accordingly, the discussion that I intend to incite with this research theoretically refers to the possible implementation of artefacts for mediatising our civic participation, towards the radical sense of democracy via a critical constructivist education. In short, here, I aim to explain how interactive media create collective intelligence, by analysing what decentralisation of power is engendered by produsage and why edutaining praxis ought to spur a civic participation. As a result, in this study I will hypothesise the emergence of a 21st century conscientisation praxis. All in all, educators are enthusiasts, connoisseurs, collecting, curating, collaborating, criticising, converging, and creating contents that synthesise and might materialise meaningful methods and manners for systematically reasoning, negotiating, or promoting a collective, constructivist, and perchance transformative and participative (democratic) utopia. Ultimately, instructors are a medium of knowledge; and be that as it may, nobody knows all, but the sum of all known by each of us is all the knowledge of our multi-millenary humanity. Thence, we ought to find ways of collaboratively connecting the dots with our bits and pieces of information. Until very recently, many considered the efforts for conceptualising networks, in which meaningful thematics could be broadly discussed (by people from different ethnicities all over the world), just as naïve as utopic. Indeed, it is still debatable whether interactive media, in the current state of Web 2.0, do provide such effectual possibilities to its users. On the other hand, it is with the purpose of adding to this debate that I endeavour to investigate quiescent means for collaboratively working on a critical upgrade to the denotation of democracy. As a matter of fact, technology, etymologically, is the study of crafts; and this MA Thesis endeavours to deal with the sociocultural factors and artefacts that we create to assist our kind’s evolving signification of civilisation. With this in mind, for concluding this thesis with a theorisation on yet untapped possibilities within produsage, I look into some of the latest media developments which could possibly contribute to meaningful improvements on our practices of participative citizenship. Then, in such hyperlinked hypothesis, educative matters of various thematic universes could be cooperatively taught by doyens, through networked lectures, with new hypertexts being added to the storylines of their lessons inasmuch as they were being produced and curated, as a critique to divergent interpretations on those phenomena previously presented via a unique interactive-video production. In that event, interactive media could create a Collective Intelligence, by means of an edutaining praxis which could spur a civic participation for democratising knowledge via produsage – in turn, (re-)creating and cyclically transforming our collective intelligence. Like this, such media type would theoretically serve as a wikinomical platform

Utiliza??o da farinha da casca de Passiflora sp. (maracuj?) como biossorvente para Cr(VI), Cd(II) e Pb(II), e filtro funcionalizado com pectina para Hg atmosf?rico.

Departamento de Qu?mica, Instituto de Ci?ncias Exatas e Biol?gicas, Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto.Diante das in?meras formas de contamina??o que s?o causadas pelo homem, a utiliza??o de um res?duo agroindustrial como subproduto de interesse cient?fico e tecnol?gico ? a abordagem deste trabalho. A farinha da casca do maracuj? (PFPF) foi utilizada como bissorvente para Pb(II), Cd(II) e Cr(VI), e como mat?ria-prima para extra??o de pectina. Os estudos cin?ticos indicaram que Pb(II) e Cr(VI) se ajustaram a um modelo de pseudo-segunda ordem e Cd(II) a um modelo de pseudo-primeira ordem. O estudo das isotermas de adsor??o indicou que para todos os analito o modelo de Langmuir foi mais bem ajustado, com Qmax=70,9 ? 2,2 mg g-1 para Pb(II), Qmax=76,3 ? 5,0 mg g-1 para Cd(II) e Qmax=265 ? 38 mg g -1 para Cr(VI). Por meio da isoterma de Dubinin-Radushkevich houve ind?cios que os processos envolvidos na adsor??o de Pb(II) e Cd(II) s?o influenciados majoritariamente por um fen?meno de fisissor??o. A aproxima??o do c?lculo de energia livre de adsor??o (?adsG?) indicou que a adsor??o acontece de forma espont?nea. O estudo de adsor??o bicomponente evidenciou o efeito sin?rgico na adsor??o dos ?ons, contribuindo especialmente no aumento da adsor??o de Pb(II). Nos testes em amostras de efluentes reais observou-se que a efici?ncia de remo??o foi de 100% para Pb (II), em torno de 30% para Cd(II) e acima de 70% para Cr(VI). A partir do estudo de dessor??o do sistema, observou-se que para elui??o de Pb(II) a melhor solu??o foi de HNO3 0,1 mol L-1, para Cd(II) foi a mistura composta por 27% de ?gua, 52% de HNO3 e 21% de NaNO3, e para Cr(VI) apenas ?gua deionizada. Al?m disso, a PFPF ? uma boa mat?ria prima para a extra??o de pectina. Os resultados obtidos pelo planejamento composto central (CCD) mostraram que foi poss?vel obter pectina de alto teor de metilesterifica??o (HDM), em menor tempo e com rendimento maior que aqueles reportados na literatura com o mesmo solvente, obedecendo aos princ?pios de qu?mica verde. A partir das amostras geradas pelo planejamento CCD, foi poss?vel agrupar as amostras em 5 clusters de acordo com os grupos funcionais identificados via an?lise de FTIR e compar?veis a padr?es comerciais. A pectina extra?da foi utilizada para a funcionaliza??o de filtros de vidro visando a adsor??o de vapor de merc?rio. Com este novo material foram realizadas caracteriza??es que indicaram a efici?ncia do recobrimento dos filtros com a pectina HDM. Os testes de adsor??o de vapor de Hg apresentam resultados promissores.In view of the numerous forms of contamination caused by human, the use of agroindustrial waste as a scientific and technological by-product is the approach of this work. Passion fruit peel flour (PFPF) was used as a bissorvent for Pb (II), Cd (II) and Cr (VI), and as a raw material for pectin extraction. Kinetic studies indicated that Pb (II) and Cr (VI) fit a pseudosecond order model and Cd (II) fit a pseudo-first order model. The study of the adsorption isotherms indicated that for all analytes the Langmuir model was better adjusted, with Qmax = 70.9 ? 2.2 mg g-1 for Pb (II), Qmax = 76.3 ? 5, 0 mg g-1 for Cd (II) and Qmax = 265 ? 38 mg g-1 for Cr (VI). Through the Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherm, there was evidence that the processes involved in the adsorption of Pb (II) and Cd (II) are mainly influenced by a phenomenon of physisorption. The approximation of the adsorption-free energy calculation (?adsG?) indicated the adsorption happens spontaneously. The two-component adsorption study showed that the synergistic effect on the adsorption of ions, contributing especially to the increase in Pb (II) adsorption.. In tests on real samples it was observed the removal efficiency was 100% for Pb (II), around 30% for Cd (II) and above 70% for Cr(VI). From the desorption study the best solution was HNO3 0,1 mol L-1 for Pb (II) desorption, a mixture containing 27% of deionized water, 52% of HNO3 e 21% of NaNO3 for Cd (II) desorption and deionized water for Cr (VI) desorption. In addition, PFPF is a good raw material for pectin extraction. The results obtained by central composite design (CCD) showed it was possible to obtain pectin with high methyl-esterification (HDM) content, in less time and with higher yield than those reported in the literature with the same solvent, obeying the principles of green chemistry. From the samples generated by CCD, it was possible to group the samples into 5 clusters according to the functional groups identified via FTIR analysis and comparable to commercial standards. Pectin was employed in the functionalization of glass filters for the adsorption of mercury vapor. Educação do Futuro e a Reorganização do Poder na Sociedade

A construção de uma Educação do Futuro requer uma nova visão da natureza humana e de nós mesmos. Isto implica uma nova visão do nosso poder como indivíduos e cidadãos. A humanidade está vivendo um amplo e disseminado processo de transição civilizatória. Esta transição atinge a todos. Ela, também promove uma mudança radical dos componentes básicos das visões vigentes. Visões são compostas por conceitos que se consolidam nas nossas estruturas perceptivas e nas formas de organização da ação humana. Quatro conceitos são apontados como fundantes de como entendemos e organizamos o mundo. Os conceitos de matéria, espaço, tempo e pessoa. Ao se examinar processos de transições profundas é importante perguntar: Como estas transições acontecem ? Quais são as forças geradoras destas mudanças? Que atores compõem esta rápida sucessão de cenários? Se examinarmos como as civilizações se sucedem, ascendem e declinam na história humana, veremos que além dos novos conceitos que animam as forças emergentes, estas novas visões vão se construindo em práticas sociais fundadas em necessidades e possibilidades. Estas se anunciam pela ação de novos conceitos, insights e descobertas incorporados nas atividades dos agentes transformadores, e pela força dos movimentos que se expressam na direção da mudança. Visão e movimentos transformadores se alimentam mutuamente. Muitas vezes as novas visões que vão se formando tomam tempo para que sejam assimiladas de forma significativa e tenham efeito transformador. A inércia dos interesses estabelecidos e as formas de conhecimento vigentes, quase sempre impedem que os sistemas promovam mudanças significativas nas suas concepções e estruturas de poder. Quase sempre as mudanças são gestadas pelas forças que se tornam marginais ao sistema. Quanto mais o sistema se  defende e encolhe, mais evidente se tornam as necessidades e possibilidades de mudança

A inovação como um fator competitivo para as empresas brasileiras

A presente monografia objetiva a identificação e análise da postura das empresas industriais brasileiras quanto à importância da inovação como um fator competitivo, o mercado mundial tem sido agressivo com aqueles que não diferenciam e não criam soluções objetivas e a inovação poderia ser a solução e chave para as empresas. Mas para introduzir o tema da inovação, se faz necessário a conceituação e método de abordagem, essa transparência conceitual é o que possibilitará o entendimento e interpretação de todo a pesquisa. Com base nos conceitos que foram abordados uma segunda iniciativa foi de identificação e avaliação das iniciativas e práticas inovadoras que foram adotadas no âmbito das empresas industriais brasileiras, essas ações em parte, estão possibilitando ditando o ritmo do mercado do século XXI que se torna cada vez mais dinâmico, rápido e agressivo. As demonstrações de casos práticos são boas oportunidades que ilustram e comprovam como os investimentos na inovação geraram índices de competitividade proporcionalmente maiores maior do que aquelas empresas que não utilizam a inovação como instrumento competitivo. Outro fator significativo para o tema a abordagem e análise das políticas públicas adotas pelo governo brasileiro que destina seus esforços na disponibilização de recursos e investimentos para as empresas industriais brasileiras na temática da inovação. Com essas informações e com a utilização de entrevistas com representantes de instituições focadas na mobilização, sensibilização e disseminação da inovação foi possível avaliar as iniciativas e a importância da inovação para as empresas industriais brasileiras e as lacunas que o Brasil ainda possui para tornar as nossas empresas ainda mais competitivas no mercado interno como também no mercado externo

The Construction of Self Images as an Enunciative Phenomenon: Comparative Study of Brazilian and French Testimonials Published in Marie Claire

In this work, we compare the way narrators build up images of themselves in testimonials conveyed in two editions, a Brazilian and a French one, by Marie Claire Magazine. The Brazilian and French statements were published in 2017 and address the theme regarding this work. In order to reach the goal, we compare the way the narrators represent or enact the views of different enunciators, having as a basis Rabatel’s Point of View Theory. The analyzes showed that, in both statements, what the narrators seek, when selecting the enunciators and hierarchizing them in a certain way, is to construct a successful image of themselves, as pragmatic women prepared for the job market. Although those statements have been produced in different contexts and present specifics, the similarity between them is due to the fact that Marie Claire Magazine, both in Brazil and in France, is addressed to audiences with very similar profiles: women who work in the labor market and who have high purchasing power and education.Neste trabalho, realizamos a comparação de como narradoras constroem imagens de si em depoimentos veiculados em duas edições, uma brasileira e outra francesa, da revista Marie Claire. Os depoimentos brasileiro e francês foram publicados no ano de 2017 e abordam a temática trabalho. Para alcançarmos o objetivo, comparamos, com base na Teoria dos Pontos de Vista, de Rabatel, a maneira como as narradoras representam ou encenam os pontos de vista de diferentes enunciadores. As análises evidenciaram que, em ambos os depoimentos, o que as narradoras buscam, ao selecionarem os enunciadores e os hierarquizarem de determinada forma, é construir para si a imagem de mulheres bem sucedidas, pragmáticas e preparadas para o mercado de trabalho. Ainda que esses depoimentos tenham sido produzidos em contextos distintos e apresentem especificidades, a semelhança entre eles se deve ao fato de a revista Marie Claire, no Brasil e na França, ser voltada para públicos com perfis muito próximos: mulheres que atuam no mercado de trabalho e que possuem poder aquisitivo e grau de escolaridade elevados

A participação popular no processo legislativo

Existe um tema primordial para o funcionamento do Legislativo no contexto do Estado Democrático de Direito, que é o da democracia participativa. Do ponto de vista da proposição legislativa, a Constituição de 1988 dispõe que a soberania popular será exercida pelo sufrágio universal e pelo voto direto e secreto, com valor igual para todos, e, nos termos da lei, mediante plebiscito, referendo e iniciativa popular. Como a Constituição tratou de maneira genérica da participação popular, foi necessária a edição da Lei n. 9.709/1998. O Regimento Interno da Câmara dos Deputados destinou título específico para tratar da participação social na elaboração legislativa, que se compõe de: iniciativa popular de lei, apresentação de petições e representações e oferecimento de pareceres técnicos e audiências públicas. Ademais, a Câmara criou a Comissão Permanente de Legislação Participativa, cujo objetivo principal é receber sugestões de iniciativa legislativa de organizações sociais. Essa importante experiência de legislação participativa, iniciada pela Câmara dos Deputados, pode ser observada em várias unidades da federação, e a Assembleia Legislativa de Minas Gerais é considerada precursora em iniciativas de participação popular. Measurement of the Ds lifetime

We report precise measurement of the Ds meson lifetime. The data were taken by the SELEX experiment (E781) spectrometer using 600 GeV/c Sigma-, pi- and p beams. The measurement has been done using 918 reconstructed Ds. The lifetime of the Ds is measured to be 472.5 +- 17.2 +- 6.6 fs, using K*(892)0K+- and phi pi+- decay modes. The lifetime ratio of Ds to D0 is 1.145+-0.049.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures submitted to Phys. Lett.

Confirmation of the Double Charm Baryon Xi_cc+ via its Decay to p D+ K-

We observes a signal for the double charm baryon Xi_cc+ in the charged decay mode Xi_cc+ -> p D+ K- to complement the previously reported decay Xi_cc+ -> Lambda_c K- pi+ in data from SELEX, the charm hadro-production experiment (E781) at Fermilab. In this new decay mode we observe an excess of 5.62 events over an expected background estimated by event mixing to be 1.38+/-0.13 events. The Poisson probability that a background fluctuation can produce the apparent signal is less than 6.4E-4. The observed mass of this state is (3518+/-3)MeV/c^2, consistent with the published result. Averaging the two results gives a mass of (3518.7+/-1.7)MeV/c^2. The observation of this new weak decay mode confirms the previous SELEX suggestion that this state is a double charm baryon. The relative branching ratio Gamma(Xi_cc+ -> pD+K-)/Gamma(Xi_cc+ -> Lambda_c K- pi+) = 0.36+/-0.21.Comment: 11 pages, 6 included eps figures. v2 includes improved statistical method to determine significance of observation.
