Near-infrared imaging of demineralization on the occlusal surfaces of teeth without the interference of stains.
Most new caries lesions are found in the pits and fissures of the occlusal surface. Radiographs have extremely low sensitivity for early occlusal decay, and by the time the lesion is severe enough to appear on a radiograph, it typically has penetrated well into the dentin and surgical intervention is required. The occlusal surfaces are often heavily stained, and visual and tactile detection have poor sensitivity and specificity. Previous near-infrared imaging studies at wavelengths beyond 1300 nm have demonstrated that stains are not visible and demineralization on the occlusal surfaces can be viewed without interference from stains. The objective of our study is to determine how the contrast between sound and lesion areas on occlusal surfaces varies with wavelength from the visible to 2350 nm and determine to what degree stains interfere with that contrast. The lesion contrast for reflectance is measured in 55 extracted teeth with suspected occlusal lesions from 400 to 2350 nm employing silicon and indium gallium arsenide imaging arrays. In addition, the lesion contrast is measured on 25 extracted teeth with suspected occlusal lesions from 400 to 1600 nm in reflectance and from 830 to 1400 nm in transillumination before and after stains are removed using a ultrasonic scaler. The highest lesion contrast in reflectance is measured at wavelengths >1700 nm. Stains interfere significantly at wavelengths <1150 nm (400 to 1150) for both reflectance and transillumination measurements. Our study suggests that the optimum wavelengths for imaging decay in the occlusal surfaces are >1700 nm for reflectance (1700 to 2350 nm) and near 1300 nm (1250 to 1350 nm) for transillumination
Instituto Inhotim: a experiência de um complexo museológico e suas relações com a arte contemporânea, o meio ambiente e o desenvolvimento humano (Doutoramento)
It is a study about the Inhotim Institute, open-air contemporary art museum and Botanical Garden located in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais, created from the private collection of Bernardo Paz, that is currently configured as an OSCIP – Civil Society Organization of Public Interest. The study proposes to detail the institution creation and trajectory in its axes of action – art, botany and environment, education, social inclusion – based on its institutional dynamics, between 2002 and 2018. It analyzes the process of musealization that puts in dialogue art and nature, and the paths designed over the territory, as well as its interlocution with surroundings, creating perspectives of human development. It addresses the experience of Inhotim in interaction with historical antecedents of contemporary art and New Museology, positioning it as a contemporary museological complex built in the interrelations between several fields of knowledge and the Integral Heritage. In it, meets together: the contradictions of contemporary times, environmental concerns, attention to the local development, the expansion of collections, disputes over resources and the search for the aesthetic experience of the beautiful through the art-landscape axis. The study concludes on the cross-linked potential of establishing links with the Sociomuseology, share strategies and create management processes aimed at fulfilling the social role of the museums, possible in any scenario, museological and many others, thus engaged.

O estudo propõe detalhar a criação e trajetória da instituição em seus eixos de atuação - arte, botânica e meio ambiente, educação e inclusão social – a partir de sua dinâmica institucional, entre 2002 e 2018. Analisa o processo de musealização que põe em diálogo a arte e a natureza, e os percursos desenhados no território, bem como sua interlocução com o entorno, criando perspectivas de desenvolvimento humano. Aborda a experiência de Inhotim em interação com antecedentes históricos da arte contemporânea e da Nova Museologia, posicionando-o como um complexo museológico contemporâneo construído na interrelação entre diversos campos do conhecimento e o Patrimônio Integral. Nele, se inserem: as contradições dos tempos contemporâneos, preocupações ambientais, a atenção ao desenvolvimento local, a expansão das coleções, disputas por recursos e a busca pela experiência estética do belo através do eixo arte-paisagem. Conclui sobre a potencialidade entrecruzada de estabelecer laços com a Sociomuseologia, partilhar estratégias e criar processos de gestão vocacionados a cumprir a função social dos museus, possível em quaisquer cenários, da museologia e tantos outros, assim engajados.

Nonviral Production of Human Interleukin-7 in Spodoptera Frugiperda Insect Cells as a Soluble Recombinant Protein
Human interleukin-7 (hIL-7) is a cytokine secreted by the stromal cells of the red marrow. It is important for proliferation during certain stages of B-cell maturation and for T and NK cell survival, development, and homeostasis. It is a critical growth factor for enhancement and recovery of the immune T-cell. Because of its strong immunomodulatory effects, hIL-7 may become a valuable supplementary agent for immunotherapeutical treatments in patients with HIV infection or immunodeficiency. Human IL-7 has previously been produced in various protein expression systems. In this paper, we present an alternative expression system, in Spodoptera frugiperda cells, for the production of hIL-7 using nonlytic vector systems. This system allows generation of correctly translated and accurately processed heterologous proteins as soluble recombinant proteins. Here we report plasmid construction, transfection, and consequent expression of hIL-7 using this nonlytic insect cell expression system. The levels of secreted hIL-7 in a small scale experiment reached a level of 1.7 μg·1−1 under serum-free cell culture conditions

Gestión sostenible de los espacios públicos recreativos, percibidos por el poblador del Distrito del Callao - 2018
La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo fundamental describir cómo es la
gestión sostenible de los espacios públicos recreativos, desde la perspectiva del
poblador del Distrito del Callao - 2018.
La investigación se desarrolló bajo el enfoque cuantitativo y es básica, por
lo que se aplicó un diseño descriptivo no experimental, nivel descriptivo y corte
transversal. La población de estudio estuvo constituida por los usuarios que se
encontraban en diferentes áreas recreativas del distrito del Callao y la muestra
estuvo constituida por 100 ciudadanos seleccionados a través de un muestreo
aleatorio simple, utilizando como medio de investigación la encuesta de 30
enunciados.
Los resultados evidenciaron que los pobladores del Callao opinan que el 10%
considera que es desfavorable la Gestión Sostenible de los Espacios Públicos de
la municipalidad del Callao mientras que un 82% indica que es por el diferente
estado de calidad de las áreas recreativas y 8.0% indican que es favorable su
opinión
Programa CreativVr en el fortalecimiento de la creatividad en estudiantes de arquitectura de una universidad privada, Lima- 2022
La investigación tiene como objetivo determinar la influencia del programa
CreativVr en el fortalecimiento de la creatividad en estudiantes de arquitectura en
una universidad privada, el cual emplea la realidad virtual como complemento a las
herramientas tradicionales evaluando características de la creatividad: fluidez,
flexibilidad, originalidad y elaboración. El diseño fue cuasi experimental con una
muestra del grupo control y del grupo de intervención de 28 estudiantes en cada
grupo. El programa se aplicó al grupo de intervención en 13 sesiones. En los
hallazgos descriptivos se evidenció que en la pre-prueba del grupo de intervención
tuvo 53.60% en el nivel de inicio, 46.40% en el nivel de proceso y ninguno en el
nivel de logro. Además, en la post-prueba en el grupo de intervención no se
encontró ningún estudiante en nivel de inicio, se halló 32.10% en el nivel de
proceso y 67.90% en el nivel de logro, progreso que no se evidenció en el grupo
control. En cuanto a la hipótesis general se aplicó la prueba t-Student en la post
prueba observándose una significación de α = 0.05, concluyendo que el programa
“CreativVr” realidad virtual influye significativamente sobre la creatividad en
estudiantes de arquitectura de una universidad privada
Review of Histology Results of Hand Masses: A South African Audit
Background: Patients with hand masses present for consultation either for pain, loss of function, or cosmetic embarrassment caused by the mass. The majority of hand masses are benign soft tissue tumors. The aim was to review the histology results of hand masses operated on at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital Hand Unit in Johannesburg, South Africa, to explore the relationship of the types of masses according to age, sex, side, and compare the findings with what is in the current literature.
Methods: Patients operated on in the hand unit, for hand masses between April 2016 and April 2019 with histology results were included in the study for statistical analysis.
Results: There were 64 males and 105 females with a mean age of 41.03 ± 18.81 years. The most frequent masses were ganglion cysts. Females appeared to be more affected than males by the different hand masses, but there were no statistically significant differences. Of the 21 giant cell tumors, 15 occurred on the right hand (p-value = 0.021).
Conclusion: The profile of hand masses at a high-volume hand unit in Johannesburg, were comparable to the reported literature. There were no significant differences between sex and diagnosis, however, there was a relationship between diagnosis and side for giant cell tumors of tendon sheaths, requiring further exploration
