Surrogate Memory: A Leadership Remembering a Revolution for Egyptian

Egypt’s revolution in 2011 has been remembered collectively as an integral event that combines with several uprisings in other Arab states in what is known as the Arab Spring. While the event may have marked a reprieve for Egyptians from the history of persecution that past generations had been subjected to by Egyptian governments, the revolution was unsuccessful in founding a new political era for Egypt. Of the wealth of factors resulting in these circumstances, the military government’s remembering of the event has served a new authoritarian administration well as it has secured their political supremacy and altered what the revolution symbolizes for the nation. Utilizing terms and ideas from collective memory theorists and analyzing crucial events from the aftermath of the revolution, it becomes clearer how challenging it is for a revolution to be commemorated in its original form. Initially, the revolution was seen as a political rebirth for Egypt. Instead, it represented a swift reclamation of the army’s seat of power in government and subsequent self-characterization as heroes of the revolution. Amongst other things, this analysis reveals how easily interpretations of collective memory can affect, and be affected by, macro-level events in the future

Analysis of concurrent delays in the construction industry

Most of construction projects suffer from delays. These delays could be due to several reasons such as, poor design, poor planning and variation orders. The most controversial type of delays in the construction industry is the concurrent delay. Ambiguity usually surrounds the concurrent delays when they exist in the project because they do not have a unified or agreed upon definition. In addition, there are different remedy theories in terms of time and cost when they arise. Therefore, the aim of this research is to highlight how the Egyptian Law perceive concurrency; in addition to performing a comprehensive literature review for the accepted definitions for concurrent delays. The scope of this literature includes how different countries law define concurrency and its remedy including Egyptian Law, English Law and the US Law. In addition, the literature also includes how different internationally recognized protocols recommends the definition for concurrency and its reimbursement including the Association for the advancement of cost engineering (AACE) 2011, the Society of Construction Law (SCL) 2017, and the American Society of civil engineers (ASCE) 2016. Furthermore, the literature also shows how different standards forms of contracts identify concurrency and its consequences including FIDIC 2017 & NEC3. After that, this research proposes an analytical model that will help the user to identify concurrency and will output the delay responsibility for each party and the extension of time that should be granted to the contractor. The model includes the three internationally accepted standards (i.e.: AACE, SCL Protocol & ASCE) for the user to select from. The model is developed using MS visual basic programming language because of its wide array of functions and availability. Then, it was initially tested using different “what if scenarios” to determine its validity and limitations. After that, it was validated using actual project data where the final result was compared to both the contractor claim and the consultant’s counter claim. After verification & validation, the model proved its validity. Therefore, this model could be considered a useful tool for claim management, as it provides acceptable evidence in case of concurrency allowing the user to choose the best suitable concurrency analysis approach to the project

DAYA SAING INDONESIA DALAM POLITIK PANGAN DUNIA

Penelitian ini memfokuskan pada tantangan dan potensi daya saing Indonesia dalam konteks politik pangan global yang krusial. Pertumbuhan populasi global yang terus meningkat, termasuk di Indonesia, menimbulkan kekhawatiran penting. Sebagai negara agraris, Indonesia memiliki peran strategis dalam menjaga ketahanan pangan nasional dan menghadapi tantangan global. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis daya saing Indonesia dalam arena politik dunia, dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini bersifat sekunder dan diperoleh melalui studi literatur, memerinci indikator-indikator utama yang memengaruhi daya saing Indonesia dalam politik pangan global: produksi pangan, kualitas dan keamanan pangan, kebijakan pangan, serta keberlanjutan lingkungan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Indonesia memegang posisi strategis dalam politik pangan global. Produksi pangan yang tinggi, pemeliharaan kualitas dan keamanan pangan, implementasi kebijakan yang mendukung, serta upaya menjaga keberlanjutan lingkungan merupakan pilar-pilar yang memperkuat daya saing Indonesia dalam arena politik pangan dunia. Sebagai negara dengan peran yang semakin penting dalam ketahanan pangan global, Indonesia memiliki tanggung jawab besar dalam menjaga dan meningkatkan kontribusinya pada politik pangan dunia

PROSEDUR PENGADAAN ASET TETAP PADA DINAS PERUMAHAN RAKYAT DAN KAWASAN PERMUKIMAN KOTA BANDA ACEH

Kantor Dinas Perumahan Rakyat dan Kawasan Permukiman Kota BandaAceh merupakan sebuah instansi pemerintahan yang dibawahi langsung olehPemerintah Daerah. Dinas Perumahan Rakyat dan Kawasan Permukiman Kota BandaAceh merupakan lembaga yang melaksanakan pembinaan, peyelenggaraanperumahan, penyelenggaraan kawasan permukiman, pemeliharaan dan perbaikan,pencegahan dan peningkatan kualitas terhadap perumahan kumuh dan permukimankumuh, penyediaan tanah, pendanaan dan sistem pembiayaan, serta peranmasyarakat. Pengadaan aset tetap juga dilakukan untuk membantu aktifitas kerjaankaryawan.Maka tujuan dari penulisan LKP ini adalah untuk memberitahukan ProsedurPengadaan Aset Tetap yang dilaksanakan pada Dinas Perumahan Rakyat danKawasan Permukiman Kota Banda Aceh sesuai dengan peraturan yang ada padaDinas Perumahan Rakyat dan Kawasan Permukiman Kota Banda Aceh.Prosedur Pengadaan Aset Tetap pada Dinas Perumahan Rakyat dan KawasanPermukiman Kota Banda Aceh menggunakan dua metode pengadaan langsung, danpemilihan penyedia. Keputusan dalam pemilihan metode yang digunakan sesuaidengan RUP yang dikeluarkan. Petugas yang ikut andil dalam pengadaan aset tetapini berasal dari instansi sendiri dan telah ditunjuk sesuai dengan ketetapan. PenulisanLKP ini memaparkan bahwasanya prosedur pengadaan aset tetap pada DinasPerumahan Rakyat dan Kawasan Permukiman Kota Banda Aceh telah sesuai denganperpres 54 tahun 2010
