The sharper version for generalized power mean inequalities with negative exponent

    Get PDF
In this study, the generalized power mean inequalities with a negative parameter are refined using an optimality theorem on the generator function. The optimality theorem requires the study of different cases for the exponents and yields a refinement of the inequality in a neighbourhood of the vectors for which the equality occurs. Then, these local inequalities are generalized to all positive vectors by an appropriate selection of parameters. Also, some of the results are exemplified by numerical calculations

The Hermite-Hadamard type inequalities for quasi p-convex functions

    Get PDF
In this paper, the Hermite-Hadamard inequality and its generalization for quasi p-convex functions are provided. Also several new inequalities are established for the functions whose first derivative in absolute value is quasi p-convex, which states some bounds for sides of the Hermite-Hadamard inequalities. In the context of the applications of results, we presented some relations involving special means and some inequalities for special functions including digamma function and Fresnel integral for sinus. In addiditon, an upper bound for error in numerical integration of quasi p-convex functions via composite trapezoid rule is given

Development of a three dimensional (3D) knitted scaffold for myocardial tissue engineering. Part II: biological performance of the knitted scaffolds

© 2021 The Textile Institute.Cardiac patch has been proposed as an alternative therapeutic tissue engineering strategy to treat damaged heart for patients who survive the acute myocardial infarction (MI). To that end, studies have focused on designing an ideal cardiac patch assisting myocardium to repair itself. The engineering of three dimensional (3 D) anisotropic knitted scaffolds could be an efficient and effective strategy for cardiac patches. Thus, the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) pile loop knit fabrics were fabricated as 3 D scaffolds, where the values of stiffness (Young’s modulus) of the scaffolds were similar to those reported for the human myocardium. Anisotropic porous knitted scaffolds supported the adhesion and proliferation of murine C2C12 myoblasts cell line in vitro. Scaffolds with a high surface to volume ratio and porosity exhibited superior performance in terms of cell adhesion and proliferation. Furthermore, out of thirteen proinflammatory cytokines, the levels of three cytokines including IL-1α, IL-1β, and IL-11 were observed to be higher in cells seeded on scaffolds coated with fibronectin than those in related control groups. Thus, the proposed knitted structure can potentially be used for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine

Oral deltamethrin ingestion due in a suicide attempt

Deltamethrin intoxication is uncommon throughout the world. The toxicity of insecticides containing pyrethroids is considered relatively lower than that of other insecticides such as compounds containing orga-nophosphate. Acute deltamethrin poisoning due to oral ingestions is relatively rare. This report describes a case of a 32-year-old woman admitted to the emergency department (ED) with irritability, muscle cramps, discomfort, sensation of burning, loss of sensation in her feet and arms and dyspnea due to deltamethrin ingestion. Deltamethrin intoxication should be considered as a differential diagnosis in patients presented to ED with nonspecific neurological symptoms. The supportive treatment in acute phase of intoxication is critical in the management of these patients since higher doses of deltamethrin ingestion may cause severe symptoms

Effect of Immediate Dentin Sealing on the Bonding Performance of Indirect Restorations: A Systematic Review

    No full text
The popular immediate dentin sealing (IDS) technique is used to improve the bond strength of indirect restorations. This systematic review assessed whether bond strength is affected by the type of aging conditions, bonding agents, flowable resin composites, impression materials, temporary materials, and/or resin cement used within the IDS procedure. A comprehensive database search of PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Ovid Medline, Web of Sciences, Cochrane Library, Dentistry & Oral Sciences Source, and ProQuest was carried out up to 30 January 2024 without publication year or language limitations. Only in vitro full-texts regarding the effect of IDS on bond strength were included, and the quality of their methods was assessed via a Risk of Bias (RoB) test. In total, 1023 pertinent studies were initially found, and 60 articles were selected for review after screening for the title, abstract, and full texts. IDS application improves the bond strength of indirect restorations to dentin and reduces the negative effects of temporary materials on the bond durability of final indirect restorations. Filled dentin bonding agents or combinations with flowable resin composite are preferred to protect the IDS layer from conditioning procedures

Rosai–Dorfman disease: sinus histiocytosis with massive lymphadenopathy

A 25-year-old man presented with a 3 month history of a painless mass on the right side of his neck. Physical examination revealed a smooth surfaced, bilobed, 4×3 cm, semimobile mass at the right and 3×2 cm at the left jugulodigastric region. Endoscopic examination of the patient showed a granular tumour in both nasal cavities. After biopsies were taken from the mass from the nasal cavity, a diagnosis of Rosai–Dorfman disease was made. A conservative approach was taken to treatment and after the 6 month follow-up period, the patient was in a stable condition
