    READING IN ACTION THE EFFECT OF COLLABORATIVE STRATEGIES TOWARDS STUDENTS' LEARNING ACTIVITIES AND READING COMPREHENSION

    Reading is still considered as a difficult skill to be taught and learnt, some students have difficulties in comprehending the text and reading also regarded as passive activities instead of active activity. This Research is aimed to know the effect of collaborative strategies towards students' learning activities and reading comprehension. This research is quasi-experimental pre-test post-test design. The data were analyzed using paired samples, independent test and correlation.  The result proved that the experimental post-learning activities are higher than pre-activities (83.27 > 61.20) and ttest 16.434. The independent test also clarified that the experimental group performed greater learning activities t (5.322 > 2.000). In Reading, the experimental post-test mean score is higher than pre-test (59.44 > 47.41), and ttest (4.237 > 2.021). The independent samples test confirmed that the experimental group ttest is higher than ttable. (3.777 > 1.980). Meanwhile the correlation analysis proved that rtest is smaller than rtable (0.134 ≀0.199) very low category. It can be concluded that collaborative strategies are effective towards students' learning activities and reading comprehension, although there is no correlation between learning activities and reading comprehension

    EFL Teachers’ Soft-Skill Strategies in Teaching Speaking

    Some learners get difficulties in speaking English because of a weak soft-skill they have, such as motivation, social skill, and self-efficacy. Therefore, teachers’ role in  embedding soft-skill in teaching speaking is essential because learning success is influenced  more by soft-skill than IQ. This study discussed kinds of soft-skills embedded by teachers in teaching speaking. This study uses qualitative analysis approach by using descriptive research design. The data are gained from three English teachers of SMAN 6 MATARAM by observation and interview. The results revealed that there are five kinds of soft--skills embedded by EFL teachers, such as self-perceptions, motivation, creativity, metacognitive and social competencies. Moreover, the steps teacher embed them are by  using classroom discussion, giving reward, telling story or information, ordering students to describe a picture in front of class, ordering students to perform dialogue, and sometimes teacher use the same steps in the next meeting if the previous materials have not finished. Those soft-skills contributed to the students’ speaking ability, such as making them more interactive, more communicative and used more various language

    Kosmetik menjadi kebutuhan utama bagi konsumen baik laki-laki maupun perempuan. Hal ini dijadikan peluang bisnis bagi pelaku usaha untuk berlomba-lomba memberikan inovasi sesuai dengan kebutuhan konsumen salah satunya yaitu kosmetik dengan sistem share in jar, namun pada kenyataannya kosmetik dengan sistem share in jar sangat berpotensi membahayakan keselamtan konsumen. Rumusan masalah dalam artikel ini Apa bentuk perlindungan hukum terhadap konsumen atas penggunaan produk kosmetik dengan sistem share in jar tanpa label pada kemasan dan Apa upaya penyelesaian yang dapat dilakukan oleh konsumen yang mengalami kerugian akibat penggunaan produk kosmetik dengan sistem share in jar tanpa label pada kemasan. Metode pendekatan yang digunakan yaitu yuridis normatif. Hasil studi menunjukan bahwa Pertama konsumen yang mengalami kerugian mendapatkan perlindungan eksternal sebagaimana yang telah diatur dalam Pasal 196 dan 197 Undang-Undang No. 36 Tahun 2009 tentang Kesehatan. Kedua, upaya penyelesaian yang dapat dilakukan oleh konsumen yang mengalami kerugian akibat penggunaan kosmetik share in jar tanpa label pada kemasan berdasarkan Pasal 45 UUPK dapat melalui 2 (dua) cara, yakni melalui jalur pengadilan (litigasi) dan jalur luar pengadilan (non litigasi).  Kata Kunci: Perlindungan Hukum, Konsumen, Share in jar  Cosmetics are a major need for both male and female consumers. This is used as a business opportunity for business actors to compete to provide innovation according to consumer needs, one of which is cosmetics with a share in jar sistem, but in reality cosmetics with a share in jar sistem have the potential to endanger consumer safety. The formulation of the problem in this article What is the form of legal protection for consumers for the use of cosmetic products with a share in jar sistem without a label on the packaging and what are the solutions that can be taken by consumers who experience losses due to the use of cosmetic products with a share in jar sistem without labels on the packaging. The approach method used is normative juridical. The results of the study show that firstly, consumers who experience losses receive external protection as regulated in Articles 196 and 197 of Law no. 36 of 2009 concerning Health. Second, the settlement efforts that can be made by consumers who experience losses due to the use of share in jar cosmetics without labels on packaging based on Article 45 of the UUPK can be in 2 (two) ways, namely through court (litigation) and out-of-court (non-litigation) channels.  Keywords: Legal Protection, Consumers, Share in jar REFERENCES Barkatullah, Abdul Halim.2020.     THE EFFECTIVENESS OF MIND-MAPPING TOWARDS STUDENTS'WRITING SKILL

    This research was intended to analyze the effect of mind mapping towards students writing skill at the second semester students of FPBS IKIP Mataram in academic year 2015/2016. This study was quasi experimental research, where the sample was cluster randomly selected with the total number of sample was 65 students which were divided into 2 classes; 29 students were in the control group and there were 36 students belong to experimental group. In order to collect the research data, the writer used writing test to comprehend the students’ ability in managing text based on mind mapping concept. After the data was obtained, then it was analyzed by applying descriptive statistical analysis and inferential analysis. Regarding to the data analysis it was found that the students’ ability before treatment was 69.72 in the significant level 95%. On post-test data analysis, the students mean writing ability increased into 77.22. The inferential analysis or hypothesis testing also proved that the t-test was higher than t-table in the significant level 95% (α =0.05) and degree of freedom 63 (4.158 > 2.000) with ρ value (sig.) 0.00 < 0.05. It was clearly claimed that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) which stated that mind-mapping was effective towards students writing at second semester students of FPBS IKIP Mataram in academic year 2015/2016 was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) that said main-mapping is not effective toward students writing at second semester students of FPBS IKIP Mataram in academic year 2015/2016 was rejected. Those data evidently proved that mind mapping was effective towards students writing especially at second semester students of FPBS IKIP Mataram in academic year 2015/2016

    EXAMINING THE EFFECT OF CONTEXTUAL TEACHING-LEARNING AND ANXIETY TOWARDS STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILLS

    This research was aimed at finding out whether: (1) Contextual Teaching Learning has better effect than conventional method towards students speaking skill; (2) the students having low anxiety have better speaking skill than those who have high anxiety; and (3) there is an interaction between CTL and anxiety towards students speaking skill. This research was experimental study within quantitative approach. The total samples of this study were 66 students of tour and travel class of SMKN 2 Mataram that consist of two classes that determined by cluster random sampling technique. The instruments that were used to collect the data were test and questionnaire. The data was analyzed by using multifactor analysis of variance 2x2 and tuckey test. The result of this research revealed that the level of students anxiety that taught by CTL is lower than conventional, while students’ speaking skill score that taught by contextual method was higher than conventional method. The level of anxiety has significant effect toward students’ speaking skill. Therefore, it can be concluded that: 1) Contextual Teaching Learning method has better effect than Convetional method towards students speaking skill of the tour and travel students’ class of SMKN 2 Mataram; 2) The students who have low speaking anxiety have better speaking skill than those who have high speaking anxiety at the tour and travel students’ class of SMKN 2 Mataram; 3) There is an interaction between CTL and students’ anxiety towards students speaking skill of the tour and travel students’ class of SMKN 2 Mataram.

    Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis dan mengetahui bentuk-bentuk penyebab terjadinya konflik Di Sekolah Dasar Negeri 20/1 Kabupaten Batanghari, diantarnya:(1) Keterbatasan sumber daya dalam memanfaatkan kemajuan teknologi, (2) Penetapan kriteria ketutasan minimal,(3) dan Kedisiplina, dalam aktivitas kegiatan pendidikan dengan demikian maka konflik ini dapat diklasifikasi diantaranya:(1) Konflik Intrapersonal terjadi di dalam diri seseorang,(2) Konflik Interpersonal terjadi antar seseorang dengan orang lain,(3) dan kelompok terjadi antara dua kelompok atau lebih di sekolah Dalam hal ini kepala sekolah harus memiliki keahlian untuk menyelesaian konflik yang terjadi dapat dilakukan dengan cara: (1) Kolaborasi yang berarti adalah strategi jalan tengah dengan mendorong tiap pihak yang berkonflik untuk bersepakat mengakomodir kepentingan masing-masing dalam sebuah kesepakatan bersama dan berusaha mencari jalan tengah penyelesaian konflik yang tidak merugikan masing-masing pihak,(2) Akomodasi yang berati menerapkan penyelesaian dengan cara mendengarkan ide gagasan,(3) Kompromi yang berati kepala sekolah membentuk tim kecil untuk mrncari akar masalah dari pihak-pihak yang terlibat konflik,(4) Pemaksaan yang berati mengambil suatu kebijakan kepada bawahanya untuk tunduk dan patuh terhadap apa yang telah digariskan dalam.     Improving Neural Network Performance with Feature Selection Using Pearson Correlation Method for Diabetes Disease Detection

    Diabetic or silent killer diseases are an alarming scourge for the world and are classed as serious diseases. In Indonesia, the increase in diabetics occurred by 2% in vulnerable times between 2013 to 2018. This affects all sectors, both medical services and the financial sector. The Neural Network method as a data mining algorithm is present to overcome the burden that arises as an early detection analysis of the onset of disease. However, Neural Network has slow training capabilities and can identify important attributes in the data resulting in a decrease in performance. Pearson correlation is good at handling data with mixed-type attributes and is good at measuring information between attributes and attributes with labels. With this, the purpose of this study will be to use the Pearson correlation method as a selection of features to improve neural network performance in diabetes detection and measure the extent of accuracy obtained from the method. The dataset used is diabetes data 130-US hospital UCI with a record number of 101767 and the number of attributes as many as 50 attributes. The results of this study found that Pearson correlation can improve neural network accuracy performance from 94.93% to 96.00%. As for the evaluation results on the AUC value increased from 0.8077 to 0.8246. Thus Pearson's Correlation algorithm can work well for feature selection on neural network methods and can provide solutions to improved diabetes detection accuracy

    One study on the effect of heating temperature, duration of heating and rapid cooling of the properties of hardness and microstructure of the steel hypoeutectoid. The study used a variation of heating temperature 780 ° C, 830 ° C, and 880 ° C with long holding time 2, 4 and 6 minutes, without any further heat treatment such as tempering. The maximum hardness value obtained is 62.7 HRC.This research was conducted in February 2015 through to completion. The research was carried out in several places that the sample preparation is done at home, while the hardness and microstructure test done at the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering Uniska Banjarmasin, research methods were conducted in this study to prepare materials, Prepare samples is 35x30 mm, heat treatment is temperature of 400 ° C, 500 ° C and 600 ° , hardness test method brinell, and test microstructure.Research shows Effect of temperature variations with different cooling media for violence leaf spring steel used is, to the best hardness value of the heating temperature of 400 ° C, 500 ° C and 600 ° C is at a temperature of 400 ° C with a cooling medium used is air which its average value is 272.2 HB from 252.8 HB to the average raw material and Influence of temperature variations with different cooling media on microstructure of steel leaf springs are used, namely, to the best hardness from the heating temperature of 400 ° C, 500 ° C and 600 ° C is at a temperature of 400 ° C with air cooling medium in which the average value of 13% pearlite and ferrite average value of 87 % of the average raw material and ferrite 10.43% pearlite 89.57%

The research findings from the literature show that the use of mobile technology affects the development of mobile learning applications as a tool in the learning process in the 21st century. Mobile learning applications can be used by educators and learners as long as they are connected to the internet. The development of mobile applications makes educators must master its use. Learners can also use the application to store their knowledge about the required teaching materials. The conclusion from this research is that "mobile learning brings changes in the way educators and learners think and work, their mastery of existing technology, and their ability to adapt and survive in the external environment
