Design and control of parallel three phase voltage source Inverters in low voltage AC microgrid

    Get PDF
Design and hierarchical control of three phase parallel Voltage Source Inverters are developed in this paper. The control scheme is based on synchronous reference frame and consists of primary and secondary control levels. The primary control consists of the droop control and the virtual output impedance loops. This control level is designed to share the active and reactive power correctly between the connected VSIs in order to avoid the undesired circulating current and overload of the connected VSIs. The secondary control is designed to clear the magnitude and the frequency deviations caused by the primary control. The control structure is validated through dynamics simulations. The obtained results demonstrate the effectiveness of the control structure

Achieving the Millennium Development Goals in Sub-Saharan Africa : a macroeconomic monitoring framework

    Get PDF
The authors present an integrated macroeconomic approach to monitoring progress toward achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Sub-Saharan Africa. At the heart of their approach is a macroeconomic model that captures key linkages between foreign aid, public investment (disaggregated into education, infrastructure, and health), the supply side, and poverty. The model is linked through cross-section regressions to indicators of malnutrition, infant mortality, life expectancy, and access to safe water. A composite MDG indicator is also calculated. The functioning of the framework is illustrated by simulating the impact of an increase in aid and a debt write-off for Niger at the MDG horizon of 2015, under alternative assumptions about the degree of efficiency of public investment. The authors'approach can serve as the building block of Strategy Papers for Human Development (SPAHD), a more encompassing concept than the current"Poverty Reduction"Strategy Papers.Economic Theory&Research,Public Sector Economics&Finance,Inequality,Investment and Investment Climate,Achieving Shared Growth

The aim was to reflect on active aging and the influence of internal and external factors that contribute and even influence the aging process and how Brazil is preparing to face the new reality in relation to significant age group changes and, therefore, change in the general scope. This is a reflective study, with a search in electronic databases that point to population aging. It was evident that there is a great concern in what is discerned about the aging process, without making the necessary decisions so that the health of the individual in the aging process is taken care of as a whole and not partially.

Thin gadolinium-doped ceria (GDC) films were deposited via the cost-effective aqueous spin coating technique and with rapid one-step sintering at 1200 °C, to be used as barrier layer between a lanthanum strontium cobalt ferrite (LSCF) cathode and a scandia-ceria-stabilised zirconia (ScCeSZ) electrolyte within a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) configuration. A 5.5 μm-thick GDC film was deposited using a 50 wt% GDC slurry in 3 cycles. The single cell comprising this GDC film produced a peak power density of over 1.00 W•cm−2 at 750 °C in hydrogen operation. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was carried out to investigate the SOFC performance evolution with potential changes in microstructure over time. An operational stability test was also conducted at a current density of 0.2 A•cm−2 for over 1200 h. The degradation behaviour of each electrochemical process as a function of cell operating time was evaluated by the distribution of relaxation times method based on the obtained electrochemical impedance spectra

This workr aims to propose a method to promote the integration of business process analysis and improvement tools. The methodology will be based on a case study applied in a blood bank. We highlight the business process management philosophy, the constraint theory reasoning process and the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA). These are tools, whose principle is to improve organizational systems by generating waste elimination and seeking continuous improvement with the greater purpose of making companies more competitive. These tools traditionally act in isolation and, although they have some methodological steps overlapping in their application methods and converge towards a common goal, improvement, we realize the possibility of a more concrete integration with the potential to generate more results for managers. Competitiveness is to be achieved in order to ensure the survival and growth of companies operating in a hostile and extremely competitive environment. In recent years, the concept of business processes has grown considerably, allowing companies to change their organization that had a departmental pattern as its basic feature and has shifted to a more business-oriented pattern. This new, more systemic and integrated approach has enabled more efficient and effective management, leading to competitiveness gains. Faced with the need for continuous improvement in a highly competitive environment and in the context of a highly complex organizational system, various management philosophies, concepts, techniques and tools emerge to support managers in achieving their driving goals. of your companies. The purpose of this work is to study the application of process improvement tools, applying this new integrated method (IM) in a hypothetical simulation. The result obtained was a process with greater robustness, reliability and more complete techniques

Improving environmental sustainability of agriculture in Egypt through a life-cycle perspective

Soil plays an essential role as a habitat, source of nutrients and support for vegetation. Promoting food security and environmental sustainability of agricultural systems requires an integrated approach to soil fertility management. Agricultural activities should be developed with preventive approaches aimed at avoiding or reducing negative impacts on the soil physicochemical and biological properties and the depletion of soil nutrient reserves. In this regard, Egypt has developed the Sustainable Agricultural Development Strategy to encourage environmentally friendly practices among farmers, such as crop rotation and water management, in addition to extending agriculture to desert areas, favoring the socio-economic development of the region. In order to evaluate the outcomes of the plan beyond quantitative data of production, yield, consumption and emissions, the environmental profile of agriculture in Egypt has been assessed under a life-cycle perspective in order to identify the associated environmental burdens and ultimately contribute to improving the sustainability policies of agricultural activity within the framework of a crop rotation system. In particular, a two-year crop rotation (Egyptian clover-maize-wheat) was analyzed in two distinct agricultural areas in Egypt: New Lands in desert regions and Old Lands along the Nile River, traditionally recognized as fertile areas due to the river alluvium and water availability. The New Lands had the worst environmental profile for all impact categories, except for Soil organic carbon deficit and Global potential species loss. Irrigation and on-field emissions associated with mineral fertilization were identified as the most critical hotspots of Egyptian agriculture. In addition, land occupation and land transformation were reported as the main drivers of biodiversity loss and soil degradation, respectively. Beyond these results, further research on biodiversity and soil quality indicators is needed to more accurately assess the environmental damage caused by the conversion of deserts into agricultural areas, given the species richness these regions holdThis research is supported by the project Enhancing diversity in Mediterranean cereal farming systems (CerealMed), funded by PRIMA Programme, FEDER/Ministry of Science and Innovation– Spanish National Research Agency (PCI2020-111978); and Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT); and the project Transition to sustainable agri-food sector bundling life cycle assessment and ecosystem services approaches (ALISE), funded by the Spanish National Research Agency (TED2021-130309B-I00).
