Estimated Price Increases Due to Higher Costs of Petroleum and Other Imports, as Calculated from a 38-Sector 1968 Input-Output Model. Quarterly Economic Commentary, March 1974
In December 1973 the Arab Oil States declared their intention to raise the
posted price of crude oil to over 350 per cent of its pre-October price. Assuming
that operating costs, company profits, freight and insurance are unlikely to remain
at their original levels per barrel, the average rise in the c.i.f. price which importing
countries will now have to pay for crude petroleum is of the order of 200 per
cent.
Otir model is intended to estimate and analyse the effects of such a pnce
rise on the prices of other goods in Ireland, and the overall effect on the cost of living
and other categories of final demand. The framework is the 1968 input-output table
with certain key sectors broken dowri in finer detail

Irish Full Employment Structures, 1968 and 1975. ESRI General Research Series Paper No. 74, May 1974
THIS paper contains an introduction followed,by four main sections which are
as follows:
(I) Detailed discussion of the model used.
(2) The I’968 experiments.
(3) The I975 experiments.
(4) Conclusions.
It isexplained in the introduction that the paper is a suitable illustration of
how an input-output table can be used with linear programming~ (LP)
techniques so as to measure the economic structure required ~to give full
employment of a specified labour force and simultaneously to maximise
household expenditure for a given import surpluS. The emphasis is on methodology
and illustration rather than on precise estimation of economic structure.
The intention is to stimulate discussion. The previous input-output models of
Geary and Simpson are described briefly. There is a short account of how the
1968 fulLemployment economic structure is approached via LP technique
THE IMPACT OF ENERGY PRICES ON THE IRISH ECONOMY DURING 1973-1981. ESRI General Research Series Paper No. 112, March 1983
Nine years have passed since the oil crisis of late 1973 issued in the era
of escalating energy prices. We have to hand the facts and figures of the years
1973-1981, within which we may treat the year 1973 as a base of comparison.
Since then energy prices have generally increased, with two major increases,
one in 1974 and the other in 1979, and a minor decrease in 1978
The Influence of Customers Communication Behaviour in the Implementation of 21cineplex Viral Marketing Using the Social Networking Site Facebook
Application of viral marketing through social networking sites will greatly help companies in saving high marketing costs since companies do not have to give financial incentive to internet users or customers who voluntarily forward the information about the companies. Good marketing communication strategy will increase the company's branding and enable good interaction between customers and companies. This research to look if the customer communication behavior has a relationship and a significant impact on forwarding online content and whether the curiosity variable has a relationship and a significant impact on the variable of consumption of online content in the application of Viral Marketing. The methodology used is interpersonal communication model adopted from FIRO theory, which consists of the following variables: inclusion-need to belong, inclusion-individuation, affection-altruism, control-personal growth, and consumption of online content, towardthe online content forwarding variable; and also the curiosity variable towards the consumption of online content variable, where the hypothesis was tested by the correlation and regression analysis. The test results based on correlation analysis show that all H1hypotheses (have relation) are received; and based on regression analysis, all H1hypotheses (effect) are received, although the value of r and the effect is less significant (small)

Double Inflation in Supergravity and the Large Scale Structure
The cosmological implication of a double inflation model with hybrid + new
inflations in supergravity is studied. The hybrid inflation drives an inflaton
for new inflation close to the origin through supergravity effects and new
inflation naturally occurs. If the total e-fold number of new inflation is
smaller than , both inflations produce cosmologically relevant density
fluctuations. Both cluster abundances and galaxy distributions provide strong
constraints on the parameters in the double inflation model assuming
standard cold dark matter scenario. The future satellite
experiments to measure the angular power spectrum of the cosmic microwave
background will make a precise determination of the model parameters possible.Comment: 19 pages (RevTeX file
Long-term prognosis after kidney donation: a propensity score matched comparison of living donors and non-donors from two population cohorts
Background: Live donor nephrectomy is a safe procedure. However, long-term donor prognosis is debated, necessitating high-quality studies. Methods: A follow-up study of 761 living kidney donors was conducted, who visited the outpatient clinic and were propensity score matched and compared to 1522 non-donors from population-based cohort studies. Primary outcome was kidney function. Secondary outcomes were BMI (kg/m2), incidences of hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular events, cardiovascular and overall mortality, and quality of life. Results: Median follow-up after donation was 8.0 years. Donors had an increase in serum creatinine of 26 μmol/l (95% CI 24–28), a decrease in eGFR of 27 ml/min/1.73 m2 (95% CI − 29 to − 26), and an eGFR decline of 32% (95% CI 30–33) as compared to non-donors. There was no difference in outcomes between the groups for ESRD, microalbuminuria, BMI, incidence of diabetes or cardiovascular events, and mortality. A lower risk of new-onset hypertension (OR 0.45, 95% CI 0.33–0.62) was found among donors. The EQ-5D health-related scores were higher among donors, whereas the SF-12 physical and mental component scores were lower. Conclusion: Loss of kidney mass after live donation does not translate into negative long-term outcomes in terms of morbidity and mortality compared to non-donors. Colliding branes and formation of spacetime singularities in string theory
Colliding branes without symmetry and the formation of spacetime
singularities in string theory are studied. After developing the general
formulas to describe such events, we study a particular class of exact
solutions first in the 5-dimensional effective theory, and then lift it to the
10-dimensional spacetime. In general, the 5-dimensional spacetime is singular,
due to the mutual focus of the two colliding 3-branes. Non-singular cases also
exist, but with the price that both of the colliding branes violate all the
three energy conditions, weak, dominant, and strong. After lifted to 10
dimensions, we find that the spacetime remains singular, whenever it is
singular in the 5-dimensional effective theory. In the cases where no
singularities are formed after the collision, we find that the two 8-branes
necessarily violate all the energy conditions.Comment: revtex4, 13 figures. Some typos were corrected, and new refereeces
