Orationis fundamenta. La plegaria como texto

En el presente artículo, el profesor Coseriu desarrolla, desde el punto de vista de su lingüística del texto, la caracterización de la plegaria como tipo de discurso. Describe las diversas implicaciones de su definición de plegaria, entre otras: 1) las exigencias lingüísticas y extralingüísticas (éticas) respecto de los elementos que la configuran (el hablante, el oyente, la finalidad, las circunstancias y el discurso mismo); 2) los límites y los alcances de la función cognoscitiva del lenguaje en la plegaria, puesto que se explican las dimensiones de los universos de discurso que dotan al hablar de sentido; y 3) un estudio de las dos versiones del Padrenuestro, según San Lucas y según San Mateo, en el que argumenta a favor de la versión de San Mateo como la más fiel al texto original y al ideal de plegaria. In this article, prof. Coseriu deals with the characterisation of the prayer as a type of discourse, from the viewpoint of text linguistics. Prof. Coseriu explains some of the implications of his definition of prayer such as: 1) linguistic and extralinguistic (ethical) requirements. Regarding the elements in the prayer (speaker, listener, aim, context, and discourse itself); 2) limits and scope of the cognitive function of language in prayers, due to the fact that, in prayers, the realm of the “universe of discourse”, which provides spoken language with meaning, is explained. And 3) an analysis of the two versions of “Our Father”, according to Saint Luke and Saint Matthew, in which prof. Coseriu argues that Saint Matthew’s version is more faithful to the original text and to the ideal of prayer

Observations on the changing language of accounting

The meaning of words can change over time. In addition, new words may enter a language, sometimes replacing other words. This article extends prior literature on language change in accounting by drawing to a larger extent on theories from linguistics, and by placing greater emphasis on mechanisms of and motivations for change. Particular emphasis is placed on the need to verbalize new concepts, and sociocultural change. The latter is illustrated with examples from the development of accounting as an occupational interest group, and the adoption of Anglo-American accounting terminology and culture. The article concludes that language change in accounting, including transmission between languages and cultures, can inform accounting historians about the transfer of technical developments, as well as about socio-economic, political or ideological processes, power relationships, and the importance of terminology in jurisdictional disputes

El lenguaje entre "physei" y "thesei"

The history of concepts, albeit still little explored by information science, can provide important contributions for the study of key concepts that constitute the theoretical-conceptual framework in a scientifi c context. Thus, the history of concepts is presented as a tool for the study of diachronic and synchronic features of the scientific concept in Information Science. For such, it was imperative to understand the intersection of the categorical-abstract and analytical-causal dimensions, both relevant for constituting the very proposition of the history of concepts elaborated by Reinhart Koselleck.A história dos conceitos, embora ainda pouco explorada pela ciência da informação, pode fornecer importantes contribuições para o estudo de conceitos-chave que constituem o quadro teórico-conceitual num contexto científico. Nessa direção, a história dos conceitos é apresentada como uma ferramenta para o estudo da diacronia e da sincronia do conceito científico na ciência da informação. Para tanto, foi mister compreender a intersecção das dimensões categórico-abstratas e analítico-causais, ambas relevantes por serem constitutivas da própria proposição da história dos conceitos elaborada por Reinhart Koselleck
