Research has shown that authentic audio-visual materials have had a positive effect in foreign language classroom on learners\u27 motivation and their confidence. Studies have also shown that humor can aid learners\u27 memorization and improve their motivation, whether it is used in course material or through the instructor\u27s interaction with the learners. Few researchers have focused, however, on the effect of humorous audio-visual material on foreign language learning. The aim of this thesis is to research the effects of humor in authentic video programming on the learning of French. In particular it examines the genre of the shortcom and how its use in French language instruction can positively impact learners\u27 (1) motivation, (2) affective filter, and (3) cultural understanding. This study shows that humorous videos motivate students to learn the language, help them feel more comfortable in class, and develop tolerance toward the target culture. All of these factors make the short-com an ideal for promoting students\u27 interest in the target language and culture outside of the classroom and helping them to become lifelong learners

Selanjutnya, hasil analisis in-silico menunjukkan bahwa matK Lantana camara L. bersifat basa, stabil, dan dapat berinteraksi baik dengan air.DNA barcoding is a method of species identification using short pieces of DNA called DNA barcode. matK is a standard gene to determine DNA barcode of a plant. The aim of this research was to determine the DNA barcode of Rumput Macan plant (Lantana camara L.) based on matK gene, as well as in-silico analysis of the product matK gene Rumput Macan (L camara L.) with its closest relatives. L. camara L. matK gene was successfully amplified by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) using forward primer MATK-1RKIM-f and reverse primer MATK-3FKIM-r. Analysis of the matK sequence of L. camara L. showed that the barcode DNA of rumput macan plant (L. camara L.) consisting of 843 nucleotides. Furthermore, the result of in-silico analysis showed that the matK of L camara L. is alkaline, stable, and able to interact well with water

A CLARINETIST'S GUIDE TO THE AUDITION PROCESS AND LITERATURE FOR THE PREMIER UNITED STATES SERVICE BANDS

The eight premier United States service bands provide numerous job opportunities for the prospective professional musician and offer financial stability, job security, and an outlet to perform at a superior level in a variety of settings. Although many published resources exist to prepare candidates for orchestral auditions, few published resources address the audition process and literature for the premier U.S. service bands. This study examines the audition process at these organizations through written correspondence with past and present audition coordinators. It addresses topics such as the system of rounds, the personnel that comprise committees, literature selection criteria, desirable traits of candidates, the role of sight-reading in the audition, and the relationship of each band's process to its mission. In order to compile a list of significant wind literature including clarinet, a written survey was distributed to a cross-section of conductors and clarinetists from universities and military bands. The survey requested identification of five to ten works from three categories including original works, marches, and transcriptions of orchestral music deemed essential for audition preparation for these bands. Fifteen of the most frequently identified works are excerpted, and accompanied by a technical and stylistic discussion. Appendices include sample audition lists from 2005-2010 and a discography of premier U.S. service band recordings of excerpted literature. These resources should aid candidates in preparing for these auditions more comprehensively than previously possible, while reducing the amount of time required to locate such reference materials
