    Directional operators and mixed norms

    Get PDF
We present a survey of mixed norm inequalities for several directional operators, namely, directional Hardy-Littlewood maximal functions and Hilbert transforms (both appearing in the method of rotations of Calderón and Zygmund), XX-ray transforms, and directional fractional operators related to Riesz type potentials with variable kernel. In dimensions higher than two several interesting questions remain unanswered

    Hardy-type estimates for Dirac operators

    Get PDF
International audienceWe prove some Hardy type inequalities related to the Dirac operator by elementary methods, for a large class of potentials, which even includes measure valued potentials. Optimality is achieved by the Coulomb potential. When potentials are smooth enough, our estimates provide some spectral information on the operator

Riesz transform characterization of Hardy spaces associated with Schr\"odinger operators with compactly supported potentials

Let L=-\Delta+V be a Schr\"odinger operator on R^d, d\geq 3. We assume that V is a nonnegative, compactly supported potential that belongs to L^p(R^d), for some p>d/2. Let K_t be the semigroup generated by -L. We say that an L^1(R^d)-function f belongs to the Hardy space H_L^1 associated with L if sup_{t>0} |K_t f| belongs to L^1(R^d). We prove that f\in H_L^1 if and only if R_j f \in L^1(R^d) for j=1,...,d, where R_j= \frac{d}{dx_j} L^{-1/2} are the Riesz transforms associated with L.Comment: 6 page

Asymptotic expansion for damped wave equations with periodic coefficients

    Get PDF
We consider a linear dissipative wave equation in IRN with periodic coefficients. By means of Bloch wave decomposition, we obtain an expansion of solutions as t ! 1 and conclude that, in a first approximation, the solutions behave as the homogenized heat kernel

WEIGHTED LORENTZ SPACES: SHARP MIXED Ap − A∞ ESTIMATE FOR MAXIMAL FUNCTIONS

    Get PDF
We prove the sharp mixed Ap − A∞ weighted estimate for the Hardy-Littlewood maximal function in the context of weighted Lorentz spaces, namely 11 ∥M∥ p,q ≲p,q,n [w]p [σ]min(p,q) , L (w) Ap A∞ 1 where σ = w 1−p . Our method is rearrangement free and can also be used to bound similar operators, even in the two-weight setting. We use this to also obtain new quantitative bounds for the strong maximal operator and for M in a dual setting

In this paper we extend a Calderon-Zygmund commutator-type estimate. This estimate enables us to prove an embedding result concerning weighted function spaces.Comment: 20 pages, no figure

A note on boundedness of operators in Grand Grand Morrey spaces

In this note we introduce grand grand Morrey spaces, in the spirit of the grand Lebesgue spaces. We prove a kind of \textit{reduction lemma} which is applicable to a variety of operators to reduce their boundedness in grand grand Morrey spaces to the corresponding boundedness in Morrey spaces. As a result of this application, we obtain the boundedness of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator and Calder\'on-Zygmund operators in the framework of grand grand Morrey spaces.Comment: 8 page

Maximal, potential and singular operators in the local "complementary" variable exponent Morrey type spaces

    Get PDF
We consider local "complementary" generalized Morrey spaces M-c({x0})p(.).omega (Omega) in which the p-means of function are controlled over Omega \ B(x(0), r) instead of B(x(0), r), where Omega subset of R-n is a bounded open set, p(x) is a variable exponent, and no monotonicity type condition is imposed onto the function omega(r) defining the "complementary" Morrey-type norm. In the case where omega is a power function, we reveal the relation of these spaces to weighted Lebesgue spaces. In the general case we prove the boundedness of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator and Calderon-Zygmund singular operators with standard kernel, in such spaces. We also prove a Sobolev type M-c({x0})p(.).omega (Omega) -> M-c({x0})p(.).omega (Omega)-theorem for the potential operators I-alpha(.), also of variable order. In all the cases the conditions for the boundedness are given it terms of Zygmund-type integral inequalities-on omega(r), which do not assume any assumption on monotonicity of omega(r).Science Development Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan [EIF-2010-1(1)-40/06-1]; Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) [110T695]info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

On Singularity Formation of a Nonlinear Nonlocal System

    Get PDF
We investigate the singularity formation of a nonlinear nonlocal system. This nonlocal system is a simplified one-dimensional system of the 3D model that was recently proposed by Hou and Lei in [13] for axisymmetric 3D incompressible Navier-Stokes equations with swirl. The main difference between the 3D model of Hou and Lei and the reformulated 3D Navier-Stokes equations is that the convection term is neglected in the 3D model. In the nonlocal system we consider in this paper, we replace the Riesz operator in the 3D model by the Hilbert transform. One of the main results of this paper is that we prove rigorously the finite time singularity formation of the nonlocal system for a large class of smooth initial data with finite energy. We also prove the global regularity for a class of smooth initial data. Numerical results will be presented to demonstrate the asymptotically self-similar blow-up of the solution. The blowup rate of the self-similar singularity of the nonlocal system is similar to that of the 3D model.Comment: 28 pages, 9 figure

Bounds on the growth of high Sobolev norms of solutions to 2D Hartree Equations

In this paper, we consider Hartree-type equations on the two-dimensional torus and on the plane. We prove polynomial bounds on the growth of high Sobolev norms of solutions to these equations. The proofs of our results are based on the adaptation to two dimensions of the techniques we previously used to study analogous problems on S1S^1, and on R\mathbb{R}.Comment: 38 page
