Radiative corrections to theta term in the left-right supersymmetric models
We calculate the radiative correction to the theta term in the generic
left-right supersymmetric model due to the Kobayashi-Maskawa source of
CP-violation. We found that the value of is very sensitive to
the relations between vacuum expectation values of bidoublet scalars and . The
minimal value of in the model is found to be of order
for , in agreement with the
experimental constraint without an axion mechanism or fine tuning. In other
regions of the parameter space, the radiatively induced gives
unacceptably large contributions to the electric dipole moment of the neutron.Comment: 6 pages, latex, no figure
General relations of heavy quark-antiquark potentials induced by reparameterization invariance
A set of general relations between the spin-independent and spin-dependent
potentials of heavy quark and anti-quark interactions are derived from
reparameterization invariance in the Heavy Quark Effective Theory. It covers
the Gromes relation and includes some new interesting relations which are
useful in understanding the spin-independent and spin-dependent relativistic

Little Higgses from an Antisymmetric Condensate
We construct an SU(6)/Sp(6) non-linear sigma model in which the Higgses arise
as pseudo-Goldstone bosons. There are two Higgs doublets whose masses have no
one-loop quadratic sensitivity to the cutoff of the effective theory, which can
be at around 10 TeV. The Higgs potential is generated by gauge and Yukawa
interactions, and is distinctly different from that of the minimal
supersymmetric standard model. At the TeV scale, the new bosonic degrees of
freedom are a single neutral complex scalar and a second copy of SU(2)xU(1)
gauge bosons. Additional vector-like pairs of colored fermions are also

Supersymmetry and a rationale for small CP violating phases
We analyse the CP problem in the context of a supersymmetric extension of the
standard model with universal strength of Yukawa couplings. A salient feature
of these models is that the CP phases are constrained to be very small by the
hierarchy of the quark masses, and the pattern of CKM mixing angles. This leads
to a small amount of CP violation from the usual KM mechanism and a significant
contribution from supersymmetry is required. Due to the large generation mixing
in some of the supersymmetric interactions, the electric dipole moments impose
severe constraints on the parameter space, forcing the trilinear couplings to
be factorizable in matrix form. We find that the LL mass insertions give the
dominant gluino contribution to saturate epsilon_K. The chargino contributions
to epsilon'/epsilon are significant and can accommodate the experimental
results. In this framework, the standard model gives a negligible contribution
to the CP asymmetry in B-meson decay, a_{J/\psi K_s}. However, due to
supersymmetric contributions to B_d-\bar{B}_d mixing, the recent large value of
a_{J/\psi K_s} can be accommodated.Comment: 30 pages, 5 figures. Version to appear in Nucl. Phys.
RS1, Custodial Isospin and Precision Tests
We study precision electroweak constraints within a RS1 model with gauge
fields and fermions in the bulk. The electroweak gauge symmetry is enhanced to
SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R \times U(1)_{B-L}, thereby providing a custodial isospin
symmetry sufficient to suppress excessive contributions to the T parameter. We
then construct complete models, complying with all electroweak constraints, for
solving the hierarchy problem, without supersymmetry or large hierarchies in
the fundamental couplings. Using the AdS/CFT correspondence our models can be
interpreted as dual to a strongly coupled conformal Higgs sector with global
custodial symmetry, gauge and fermionic matter being fundamental fields
external to the CFT. This scenario has interesting collider signals, distinct

The QCD heavy-quark potential to order v^2: one loop matching conditions
The one-loop QCD heavy quark potential is computed to order v^2 in the color
singlet and octet channels. Several errors in the previous literature are
corrected. To be consistent with the velocity power counting, the full
dependence on |p' + p|/|p' - p| is kept. The matching conditions for the NRQCD
one-loop potential are computed by comparing the QCD calculation with that in
the effective theory. The graphs in the effective theory are also compared to
terms from the hard, soft, potential, and ultrasoft regimes in the threshold
expansion. The issue of off-shell versus on-shell matching and gauge dependence
is discussed in detail for the 1/(m k) term in the potential. Matching on-shell
gives a 1/(m k) potential that is gauge independent and does not vanish for

Strong Phases and Factorization for Color Suppressed Decays
We prove a factorization theorem in QCD for the color suppressed decays B0->
D0 M0 and B0-> D*0 M0 where M is a light meson. Both the color-suppressed and
W-exchange/annihilation amplitudes contribute at lowest order in LambdaQCD/Q
where Q={mb, mc, Epi}, so no power suppression of annihilation contributions is
found. A new mechanism is given for generating non-perturbative strong phases
in the factorization framework. Model independent predictions that follow from
our results include the equality of the B0 -> D0 M0 and B0 -> D*0 M0 rates, and
equality of non-perturbative strong phases between isospin amplitudes,
delta(DM) = delta(D*M). Relations between amplitudes and phases for M=pi,rho
are also derived. These results do not follow from large Nc factorization with

Big Corrections from a Little Higgs
We calculate the tree-level expressions for the electroweak precision
observables in the SU(5)/SO(5) littlest Higgs model. The source for these
corrections are the exchange of heavy gauge bosons, explicit corrections due to
non-linear sigma-model dynamics and a triplet Higgs VEV. Weak isospin violating
contributions are present because there is no custodial SU(2) global symmetry.
The bulk of these weak isospin violating corrections arise from heavy gauge
boson exchange while a smaller contribution comes from the triplet Higgs VEV. A
global fit is performed to the experimental data and we find that throughout
the parameter space the symmetry breaking scale is bounded by f > 4 TeV at 95%
C.L. Stronger bounds on f are found for generic choices of the high energy
gauge couplings. We find that even in the best case scenario one would need
fine tuning of less than a percent to get a Higgs mass as light as 200 GeV.Comment: 20 pages, 5 figures included, typos fixed, comments on the effects of

Soft, collinear and non-relativistic modes in radiative decays of very heavy quarkonium
We analyze the end-point region of the photon spectrum in semi-inclusive
radiative decays of very heavy quarkonium (m alpha_s^2 >> Lambda_QCD). We
discuss the interplay of the scales arising in the Soft-Collinear Effective
Theory, m, m(1-z)^{1/2} and m(1-z) for z close to 1, with the scales of heavy
quarkonium systems in the weak coupling regime, m, m alpha_s and m alpha_s^2.
For 1-z \sim alpha_s^2 only collinear and (ultra)soft modes are seen to be
relevant, but the recently discovered soft-collinear modes show up for 1-z <<
alpha_s^2. The S- and P-wave octet shape functions are calculated. When they
are included in the analysis of the photon spectrum of the Upsilon (1S) system,
the agreement with data in the end-point region becomes excellent. The NRQCD
matrix elements and
