    Analysis of Genetic Misconceptions Student Biology Education at STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang

    During the learning process of genetic course, students were difficult to assess the material because of its abstraction. Genetics materials contained technical terms that cannot be memorized and pronounced easily by the students. Its concepts were hard to be understood because it does not provide a conceptual framework. Students were not deconstructed and construct the genetic knowledge by using their critical thinking and logical reasoning; it was make the concept of genetic were not understood correctly. Some of the wrong exist concepts about genetic are the students tried to keep concepts confidently that they have gotten when study in the previous level of education by reading and materials has taught in the school, it was said as misconceptions. The student’s misconceptions could be transferred to their students when they teach their students in the future. This is a qualitative research; it aimed to reveal the students genetic misconceptions. The samples of the research are 25 students in the 6th semester of biology education study program at STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang.     Pengaruh Model Probing Prompting terhadap Hasil Belajar Kognitif Siswa pada Materi Pewarisan Sifat

    Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Probing Prompting terhadap hasil belajar kognitif siswa kelas IX SMPN 3 Silat Hilir pada materi Pewarisan Sifat. Metode penelitian adalah eksperimen semu dengan desain penelitian Nonequevalent Control Group. Sampel yang digunakan ada dua kelas dengan jumlah siswa perkelas adalah 24. Alat pengumpul data adalah lembar observasi, soal tes, dan angket. Analisis data dengan anlisis statistik dan persentase. Rata-rata persentase hasil observasi pada kelas eksperimen adalah 95,30% dan dan kelas kontrol 97,16% keduanya masuk dalam kategori “baik”. Hasil analisis data diperoleh nilai rata-rata post-test kelas eksperimen 77,50. Sedangkan pada kelas kontrol diperoleh nilai rata-rata post-test sebesar 58,12. Data hasil angket diperoleh persentase sebesar 75% masuk dalam kategori “baik”. Setelah dilakukan uji hipotesis diperoleh nilai thitung 2,45 lebih besar dari ttabel 2,01, sehingga Ho ditolak. Jadi penerapan model pembelajaran Probing Prompting berpengaruh signifikan terhadap hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada mata pelajaran IPA Terpadu khususnya materi pewarisan sifat

    Improving Students’ Learning Results Using The Study Group Method on Structure and Functions of Plants in Fourth Grade

    The purpose of this study is to describe the cognitive achievement of students using the Study Group method on the material of structure and function of plant parts in fourth grade. This classroom action research (CAR) takes descriptive qualitative research method with qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were fourth graders of 21 people consisting of 8 male students and 13 female students. This study was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation and reflection. The data collection tools were guidelines for observation, test questions, the questionnaire, and documentation. The research result showed that in the first cycle, the percentage of classical completeness was 61,90%. While on the second cycle, the significance increased to 90,48%. This was an increase in cognitive achievement of students from the first cycle to the second cycle of 28,58%

    Based on observations at partner schools i.e SMP Nusantara Indah Sintang and SMP Panca Setya 2 Sintang, it is seen that the assessment used is traditional assessment in the form of written test, where the assessment is less able to express students’s skill and attitude. Therefore, the servant team and partner schools collaborate with to solving the problem through the PKM program. The PKM program aims to improve teachers skills in designing and developing performance assessments, in order to empower and reveal student’s skills and attitudes. This PKM Program conducted by in service method in the form of training and mentoring. The training is the techniques of designing an authentic assessment in the form of performance assessment, which is used in practice-based learning. The results of the training and mentoring program was developed group performance assessments and personal performance assessments, both of which include the lattice and test or performance sheet.     Based on observations at SMP Nusantara Indah Sintang and SMP Panca Setya 2 Sintang as a schoolspartner, it is seen that the condition of the laboratory is inadequate wherethe available of the tools and materials are less. Science Teachers did not innovate and create creations to overcome the problem. In addition, practicum activities are rarely done, including in utilizing the surrounding environment. Science Teachers tend to do learning process with theory. Therefore, the joint proponent cooperates to overcome the problem through the program of Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM). This PKM program is aims to improve teachers' skills in designing and developing learning media with unused materials. The method used in the achievement of the goal is the implementation of inservice in the form of training and mentoring. The training was carried out is the training of techniques to design learning media with used materials.     PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS PRAKTIKUM DAN ASESMENNYA PADA KONSEP SISTEM PEREDARAN DARAH UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS DAN SIKAP ILMIAH SISWA SMA (Hilarius Jago Duda, 0808825) Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan dan menganalisis kemampuan berpikir kritis serta mengetahui dan mengidentifikasi sikap ilmiah siswa pada materi sistem peredaran darah sebelum dan sesudah belajar dengan pembelajaran berbasis praktikum. Metode penelitian yang digunakan quasi experiment dengan “static group pretes-postes design”dilaksanakan di SMA Santa Maria 1 Bandung kelas X1 semester II pada tahun ajaran 2009/2010. Sampel penelitian diambil secara langsung dari semua sampel yang ada, karena di sekolah tersebut hanya terdiri atas dua kelas IPA. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes awal dan tes akhir pada kemampuan berpikir kritis dan sikap ilmiah siswa serta data lainnya yaitu asesmen kinerja siswa (personal dan kelompok), angket siswa dan angket guru. Data dianalisis dengan uji beda rerata (uji t) dengan menggunakan data tes akhir. Hasilnya berbeda signifikan baik pada kemampuan berpikir kritis maupun sikap ilmiah siswa. Rerata N-Gain pada kelas eksperimen dan kontrol untuk kemampuan berpikir kritis berturut-turut adalah 0,64 (sedang) dan 0,57 (sedang), sikap ilmiah siswa 0,16 (rendah) dan 0,14 (rendah). Asesmen kinerja menunjukan untuk kelas eksperimen yaitu 97,50 lebih baik daripada kelas kontrol yaitu 90,72. Secara umum asesmen kinerja untuk kedua kelas baik asesmen kinerja personal maupun asesmen kinerja kelompok cukup baik dan hampir semua siswa aktif dalam pembelajaran biologi. Guru maupun siswa memberikan tanggapan positif terhadap pembelajaran biologi. Disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis praktikum lebih baik dari pada pembelajaran konvensional

    Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Auditory Intellectually Repetition (AIR) terhadap Hasil Belajar Kognitif Siswa pada Materi Pencemaran Lingkungan. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif deskriptif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen jenis Quasi-eksperimen dengan desain penelitian Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMPN 7 Dedai. Sampelnya kelas VIIA dan VIIB. Teknik pengambilan sampelnya menggunakan teknik Purposive Sampling. Alat pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi, soal tes, dan angket. Analisis data untuk obesrvasi dan angket dengan cara persentase dan untuk test dengan statistik parametrik yaitu uji-t dua sampel. Hasil analisis lembar observasi guru pertemuan pertama dan kedua diperoleh nilai rata-rata persentase sebesar 97,70%, yang berkriteria sangat kuat, sedangkan analisis lembar observasi siswa pada pertemuan pertama dan kedua diperoleh nilai rata-rata persentase sebesar 95,45% yang berkriteria sangat kuat. Berdasarkan uji hipotesis pada posttest kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol diperoleh thitung sebesar 14,77 dan ttabel sebesar 2,00665. Pengujian hipotesis membuktikan bahwa thitung> ttabel (14,77 > 2,00665) yang artinya Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada materi Materi Pencemaran Lingkungan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Berdasarkan pengolahan data angket respon siswa diperoleh rata-rata nilai persentase sebesar 86,81% dengan kategori sangat kuat

    Enhancing different ethnicity science process skills: problem-based learning through practicum and authentic assessment

    Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is a constructivist learning with the potential to enhance students' science process skill. The implementation of PBL has revealed many advantages; however, a free exploration from a highly complex environment may result in a heavier workload of memory. Accordingly, practicum method can be used to overcome the shortcomings of PBL with the support of authentic assessment. This research aimsed to investigate the effect of PBL through practicum supported by authentic assessment, PBL, and conventional learning on science process skills of Dayak and Malay students in Animal Physiology lectures. The research used a quasi-experimental research design with a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design with 3 x 2 factorial design. Data collection involved a science process skill test. The data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially with ANCOVA. Significant differences between groups were assessed with LSD test. The result showed that the learning model influenced students' science process skill. The PBL model implemented through a practicum and supported with authentic assessment was the most influential being significantly different to both PBM model and conventional learning. Ethnicity did not significantly affect the students' science process skill. There was no interaction between learning model and ethnicity toward students' science process skill

    Pengembangan Bahan Ajar Biologi Berbasis Kinerja pada Materi Protista

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh data dilapangan bahwa bahan ajar biologi berbasis kinerja siswa pada materi protista belum pernah dikembangkan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar berbasis kinerja terhadap siswa kelas X SMA Karya Sekadau. Model yang peneliti gunakan adalah model pengembangan 4-D. Model pengembangan 4-D terdiri atas 4 tahap utama yaitu Define, Design, Develop dan Disseminate. Subyek ujicoba lapangan yaitu siswa kelas X sebanyak 30 siswa SMA Karya Sekadau. Persentase hasil validasi modul oleh ahli materi, ahli media, dan guru bidang studi sebesar 86,6% sehingga modul memiliki kualifikasi sangat layak. Modul diuji coba terhadap siswa SMA Karya Sekadau kelas XI IIS 1 pada tahap initial development testing. Persentase penilaian modul oleh siswa kelas XI sebesar 88,43 %. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa modul yang dikembangkan termasuk dalam kualifikasi modul yang sangat layak. Efektifitas dari modul ini dilihat dari nilai gain score 0,54 dengan kriteria sedang, sehingga dapat dinyatakan efektif. Respon siswa dari modul dengan pengambilan uji skala kecil sebesar 88,43% dengan respon sangat baik
