    The effect of succinic acid on the productivity of Lactuca sativa L. in artificial agroecosystems

    Received: March 7th, 2021 ; Accepted: May 10th, 2021 ; Published: May 19th, 2021 ; Correspondence: [email protected] research of the effect of the biostimulant on the growth and development of plants of the ‘Robin’ lettuce variety was carried out in 2019–2020 in the department of closed artificial agroecosystems for crop production on the basis of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution «Federal Scientific Agroengineering Center VIM», Moscow (VIM, Russia). Succinic acid was used at the stage of inoculation of seed and with constant drip irrigation of plants throughout the growing period. Lettuce plants were grown using a low-volume technology in a climatic chamber produced by VIM (Russia). According to the studies carried out, inoculation of seeds stimulates the development of plants at the initial stages, reducing the period from sowing to germination and increasing the rate of plant growth. As the lettuce plants grew, the leaf surface area increased from 221.0 to 1511.9 cm² with the addition of succinic acid to the hydroponic nutrient solution. The use of succinic acid under controlled growing conditions of ‘Robin’ lettuce plants allowed to increase the performance of the leaf apparatus in relation to the control. It was experimentally established that productivity directly depended on the value of photosynthetic potential and net productivity of photosynthesis, which is confirmed by a strong degree of dependence with a correlation coefficient of 0.98 and 0.77, respectively. Seed treatment and adding succinic acid to the hydroponic solution increases the accumulation of dry matter in lettuce plants. With this method of using succinic acid, significant differences in the accumulation of dry mass of plants were established. The share of the effect of the factor of inoculation of seeds with succinic acid was 17.5%, the addition of hydroponics to the nutrient solution was 50.1%. The use of succinic acid increases the accumulation of plant biomass, increases the total leaf surface area, and also contributes to an increase in the parameters of photosynthetic activity of the leaf apparatus of the ‘Robin’ lettuce plants under controlled conditions of the climatic chamber

    Hyperfine structure of P-states of light muonic atoms

    Precise calculation of hyperfine structure of P -states in muonic ions of lithium, beryllium and boron in quantum electrodynamics is performed. We calculate different corrections of orders alfa5 and alfa6 due to the vacuum polarization, nuclear structure and recoil in first and second orders of perturbation theory. The tensor method of projection operators for the calculation of the hyperfine structure of P-states with definite quantum numbers of total atomic momentum F and total muon momentum j in muonic ions is used. The obtained values of hyperfine splittings can be used for a comparison with future experimental data.The work is supported by the RSF (Grant 18-12-00128)

    Instanton Corrections to Quark Form Factor at Large Momentum Transfer

    Within the Wilson integral formalism, we discuss the structure of nonperturbative corrections to the quark form factor at large momentum transfer analyzing the infrared renormalon and instanton effects. We show that the nonperturbative effects determine the initial value for the perturbative evolution of the quark form factor and attribute their general structure to the renormalon ambiguities of the perturbative series. It is demonstrated that the instanton contributions result in the finite renormalization of the next-to-leading perturbative result and numerically are characterized by a small factor reflecting the diluteness of the QCD vacuum within the instanton liquid model.Comment: Version coincident with the journal publication, 9 pages; REVTe

    The comparative responsiveness of Hospital Universitario Princesa Index and other composite indices for assessing rheumatoid arthritis activity

    Objective To evaluate the responsiveness in terms of correlation of the Hospital Universitario La Princesa Index (HUPI) comparatively to the traditional composite indices used to assess disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and to compare the performance of HUPI-based response criteria with that of the EULAR response criteria. Methods Secondary data analysis from the following studies: ACT-RAY (clinical trial), PROAR (early RA cohort) and EMECAR (pre-biologic era long term RA cohort). Responsiveness was evaluated by: 1) comparing change from baseline (Delta) of HUPI with Delta in other scores by calculating correlation coefficients; 2) calculating standardised effect sizes. The accuracy of response by HUPI and by EULAR criteria was analyzed using linear regressions in which the dependent variable was change in global assessment by physician (Delta GDA-Phy). Results Delta HUPI correlation with change in all other indices ranged from 0.387 to 0.791); HUPI's standardized effect size was larger than those from the other indices in each database used. In ACT-RAY, depending on visit, between 65 and 80% of patients were equally classified by HUPI and EULAR response criteria. However, HUPI criteria were slightly more stringent, with higher percentage of patients classified as non-responder, especially at early visits. HUPI response criteria showed a slightly higher accuracy than EULAR response criteria when using Delta GDA-Phy as gold standard. Conclusion HUPI shows good responsiveness in terms of correlation in each studied scenario (clinical trial, early RA cohort, and established RA cohort).     The article describes a videooculographic method to detect functional state disorders in operators in the target tracking test. The method is an improved version of the smooth pursuit test and can be used to detect and to estimate the effects of various adverse factors on operators in laboratory experiments. The method is noninvasive, allows a continuous data recording for a long period of time with the subject in comfortable conditions, and may employ various videooculographic devices (including portable and low-cost models). As an example, a series of experiments was performed to detect the negative effects of alcohol intoxication. A linear relationship was observed between changes in parameters of oculomotor reactions and changes in reaction time to the target stimulus. © 2017, Pleiades Publishing, Inc

    Carbon-supported kcomos2 for alcohol synthesis from synthesis gas

    KCoMoS2 was supported on various carbon support materials to study the support effect on synthesis gas conversion. Next to two activated carbons with high micropore volume, a tradi-tional alumina (γ-Al2O3) support and its carbon coated form (CCA) were studied for comparison. Coating alumina with carbon increases the selectivity to alcohols, but the AC-supported catalysts show even higher alcohol selectivities and yields, especially at higher temperatures where the con-versions over the AC-supported catalysts increase more than those over the γ-Al2O3-based catalysts. Increasing acidity leads to decreased CO conversion yield of alcohols. The two activated-carbon-supported catalysts give the highest yield of ethanol at the highest conversion studied, which seems to be due to increased KCoMoS2 stacking and possibly to the presence of micropores and low amount of mesopores. © 2021 by the authors.     Association of obesity in shift workers with the minor allele of a single-nucleotide polymorphism (rs4851377) in the largest circadian clock gene (NPAS2)

    A growing body of evidence has hinted at the involvement of the largest gene of the circadian clock family, NPAS2, in the regulatory mechanisms underlying the link between metabolic diseases and circadian rhythm disruption. We tested whether one of single-nucleotide polymorphisms in NPAS2 (rs4851377) is associated with obesity and alternations of sleep times in 126 male rotational shift workers (bus drivers). We confirmed positive association of Body Mass Index (BMI) with the difference between free and working days in sleep times, but this difference was smaller in the homozygotes for the minor allele. Moreover, BMI above 30 (obesity) was revealed in the majority of these homozygotes and in the minority of homozygotes for the major allele (11 of 21 or 52.4% and 3 of 40 or 7.5%, respectively). Further studies are required to replicate these results and to elucidate the mechanisms linking NPAS2ʹpolymorphism in with obesity in shift workers. © 2018, © 2018 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group
