    Environmental Sustainability and Supply Chain Management — A Framework of Cross-Functional Integration and Knowledge Transfer

    The purpose of this paper is to discuss mechanisms of intra-organizational knowledge transfer within sustainable supply chain management (SSCM). Through a conceptual study design, the focus of this paper is on the transfer of SSCM-associated information and knowledge between functional units. Furthermore, the external stakeholder perspective is taken into account. To support this conceptual framework, the knowledge-based theory provides a theoretical foundation in order to study a company’s ability for knowledge sharing. Within this perspective one approach distinguishes between internal and external structures and the individual competence. These findings will be used as a basis to further develop a framework of intra-organizational SSCM knowledge and information transfer as well as cross-functional integration

    Longitudinal Study of Diagnoses in Children of Women With Unipolar and Bipolar Affective Disorder

    School-age children of unipolar depressed, bipolar, chronically medically ill, or normal women were diagnosed every 6 months for up to 3 years. Offspring of unipolar women had the highest rates of disorder at all evaluations, but children of bipolar and medically ill mothers also experienced significant rates of disorder. Observing diagnoses from both past lifetime and prospective follow-up assessments, it appeared that most children who had diagnoses had onsets in preadolescence and continued a chronic or intermittent course of disorder. Thus, risk to offspring of ill mothers is not transitory and indicates a pernicious course that commonly includes affective disorders alone or in combination with behavior and anxiety disorders

    Innovation in wine SMEs: the Douro Boys informal network

    Globalisation needs to be perceived by wine small and medium enterprises (SMEs) located in wine regions characterised by a terroir model as a challenge and an opportunity to innovate. The aim of this paper is to present a business strategy that can be adopted by wine SMEs located in regions with high production costs and where tradition and innovation are relevant factors to be introduced in the decision process. To achieve this goal, the case of five small wine producers (Douro Boys), located in the Portuguese conservative Douro Demarcated Region (DDR), that are adopting an informal horizontal network is presented. The conducted analysis allows us to conclude that Douro Boys is a very simple and informal structure of prospectors, with a high culture of innovation, searching for niches in international wine markets

    Στη συγκεκριμένη εργασία αξιοποιείται η θεωρία της πρακτικής του Pierre Bourdieu, δίνοντας ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στις έννοιες «έξη» (habitus), «γούστο» και «διάκριση», για να αναλυθούν οι απόψεις και οι πρακτικές των γονέων της μεσαίας τάξης σε σχέση με τις εξωσχολικές δραστηριότητες των παιδιών τους. Το ζήτημα αυτό έχει απασχολήσει τους/τις ερευνητές/τριες κυρίως σε επίπεδο ποσοτικών ερευνών. Με αφετηρία την πολιτισμική διαφοροποίηση των επιμέρους κοινωνικών τάξεων όπως αναδεικνύεται κατά κύριο λόγο μέσα από τη θεωρία του Bourdieu, μελετήθηκαν οι γονικές στρατηγικές και επιλογές που αφορούν στην πραγματοποίηση εξωσχολικών δραστηριοτήτων των παιδιών τους. Η γονική εμπλοκή συνδέεται με τη θεωρία του Bourdieu και συγκεκριμένα με τις έννοιες του «γούστου» και της «διάκρισης». Τα ερευνητικά ερωτήματα σχετίζονται με τις απόψεις και επιλογές των γονέων ως προς τις εξωσχολικές δραστηριότητες των παιδιών τους, αλλά και με τον ρόλο που παίζει η επιλογή των εξωσχολικών δραστηριοτήτων στην ταξική αναπαραγωγή και ενίσχυση του πολιτισμικού κεφαλαίου των παιδιών. Στην παρούσα ποιοτική έρευνα, αναλύονται ημι-δομημένες συνεντεύξεις οκτώ γονέων. Η έρευνα έγινε στα σχολεία της Νέας Ερυθραίας και του Χαλανδρίου. Η καχυποψία του Bourdieu απέναντι στη γενικότερη πεποίθηση που θέλει τις ανθρώπινες επιλογές να αντιμετωπίζονται ως καθαρά προσωπικές, αποδεικνύεται βάσιμη στην τρέχουσα καθημερινότητα μιας οικογένειας της μεσαίας τάξης. Πολλές φορές το προσωπικό ύφος ζωής (στη συγκεκριμένη περίπτωση η επιλογή εξωσχολικών δραστηριοτήτων), ωθείται από ένα σύνολο δράσεων και κινήτρων τα οποία, σύμφωνα με τον Bourdieu, καθορίζουν την κοινωνική διάκριση.This study employs Bourdieu's theory of practice and in particular the concepts "habitus", "taste", "distinction", to analyze the views and the practices of middle-class parents in relation to the extra-curricular activities of their children. Researchers have addressed this issue mainly in terms of quantitative research. This study focuses on the qualitative analysis of 8 parents' semi-structured interviews. The parenting styles and strategies have been studied as a starting point of the cultural peculiarity that distinguishes the social classes and is mainly reflected in the theory of Bourdieu. Parental engagement is linked to Bourdieu's theory and specifically to the notions of "taste" and "distinction". Bourdieu's suspicion over the general belief that individual choice is treated as purely personal is proved to be well founded in the current daily routine of the middle-class family. The choice of particular extracurricular activities is thus analyzed as a feature of social distinction

    Características físico-químicas de extratos de erva-mate (Ilex paraguariensis St. Hil) no estado de Santa Catarina.

    The objective of this paper is to evaluate the physical and chemical characteristics of tea (mate), such as humidity and volatile substances at 105 °C % (p/p), fixed mineral residues %(p/p), insoluble fixed mineral residues in solution of HCl at 10% v/v % (p/p), liquid extract % (p/p), and caffeine % (p/p).The results obtained in the sample analysis were compared with the established norms of decree 234 of march, 25, 1998 from the Health Ministry. The samples had been collected in four large regions of tea production in Santa Catarina State, with specific conditions of soil and climate.  The results showed that at the time of the largest vegetation growth occurring in the months of September and December, few samples reached the caffeine levels established in the decree. In the evaluations taken in January, February, March, June and July, the majority of samples reached the minimum level of caffeine established in 0,5g/100g for tea. The others characteristics analyzed are within the norms of established legislation.O objetivo deste trabalho é avaliar as características físico-químicas de extratos de erva-mate (Ilex paraguariensis St. Hil), como a umidade e substâncias voláteis a 105°C % (p/p), resíduo mineral fixo, % (p/p) resíduo mineral fixo insolúvel em solução de HCL a 10%, v/v, % (p/p), extrato aquoso, % (p/p) e cafeína, % (p/p). Os resultados obtidos nas análises amostradas foram comparados com as normas estabelecidas pela portaria 234 de 25 de março de 1998, da Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária (ANVS), Ministério da Saúde. As amostras foram coletadas em quatro grandes regiões de ocorrência de erva-mate no estado de Santa Catarina, apresentando condições específicas de solo e clima. Os resultados obtidos indicam que, na época de maior crescimento vegetativo, compreendido entre os meses de setembro a dezembro, poucas amostras atingiram os índices de cafeína estabelecidos na portaria. Nas avaliações feitas em janeiro, fevereiro, março, junho e julho, a maioria das amostras atingiram o índice mínimo de cafeína estabelecido em 0,5g/100g de erva-mate. As demais características analisadas então de acordo com os índices estabelecidos na legislação

    Η Μεθοδολογία της Εκπαιδευτικής Έρευνας υπό το πρίσμα της Θεωρίας των Νομιμοποιητικών Κωδίκων

    Η παρούσα διατριβή εξετάζει τη Μεθοδολογία της Εκπαιδευτικής Έρευνας ως γνωστικό αντικείμενο σε προπτυχιακό επίπεδο στα πανεπιστημιακά τμήματα των Επιστημών της Αγωγής και της Εκπαίδευσης στην Ελλάδα υπό το πρίσμα μιας σχετικά νέας κοινωνιογλωσσικής θεωρίας που ονομάζεται «Θεωρία των Νομιμοποιητικών Κωδίκων». Η θεωρία αυτή επεκτείνει τις ιδέες του Άγγλου Κοινωνιογλωσσολόγου Basil Bernstein και χρησιμοποιεί στοιχεία από το «πεδίο» του Pierre Bourdieu και τον Κριτικό Ρεαλισμό του Roy Bhaskar. Υπό το πρίσμα αυτής της θεωρίας συζητούνται στην παρούσα διατριβή οι τρόποι με τους οποίους γνώσεις και «γνώστες» στο υπό εξέταση γνωστικό αντικείμενο «νομιμοποιούνται» στη τριτοβάθμια εκπαίδευση, καθώς και οι τρόποι με τους οποίους οι κώδικες αυτοί εμφανίζονται κατά τη διδασκαλία του εν λόγω γνωστικού αντικειμένου. Στο πλαίσιο αυτό, η παρούσα διατριβή εξετάζει την ιστορία και τους «κώδικες» της εκπαιδευτικής έρευνας στην Ελλάδα ως «απροσδιόριστης επιστήμης» από το 1920 ως τις μέρες μας. Σε ερευνητικό επίπεδο αναλύονται: (α) οι απόψεις 1005 φοιτητών και φοιτητριών και 71 καθηγητών και καθηγητριών από όλα τα πανεπιστημιακά τμήματα Αγωγής και Εκπαίδευσης στην Ελλάδα, (β) οι αφηγήσεις ζωής τριών πρωτοπόρων στη θεμελίωση της Μεθοδολογίας Εκπαιδευτικής Έρευνας ως διδακτικού αντικειμένου στην Ελλάδα (Μιχάλης Βάμβουκας, Μιχάλης Κασσωτάκης, Θάλεια Δραγώνα) και (γ) τέσσερις διδασκαλίες στο αντικείμενο της Μεθοδολογίας Έρευνας. Βρέθηκε ότι η Εκπαιδευτική Έρευνα θεωρείται «κατώτερη» από αυτή των άλλων επιστημών και νομιμοποιείται με τους ρεαλιστικούς και θετικιστικούς κώδικες της φισεριανής Στατιστικής και της Ψυχολογίας. Οι διδάσκοντες «νομιμοποιούνται» μέσω των γνώσεων των προαναφερθέντων κωδίκων αλλά και από το καλλιεργημένο βλέμμα του γνώστη. Τέλος, σημασιολογικά «κύματα» μεταβαλλόμενης «πυκνότητας» και «βαρύτητας» ανιχνεύτηκαν, σύμφωνα με την Θεωρία των Νομιμοποιητικών Κωδίκων σε πανεπιστημιακά μαθήματα.The present study examines Educational Research Methodology in Greece as a subject at Educational Departments (undergraduate level) taking consideration of a relatively new theory in sociolinguistics known as “Legitimation Code Theory”. Legitimation Code Theory extends Basil Bernstein’s concepts of codes and proposes the notion of an ‘epistemic device’. It also uses Bourdieu’s field theory and Roy Baskar’s Critical Realism. In this context, the history and codes of Educational Research Methodology as an ‘elusive science’ are discussed. Opinions of 1005 students and 71 university teachers are analysed together with the life histories of three pioneers in the field in Greece (Michael Vamboukas, Michael Kassotakis, and Thalia Dragona). Semantic codes of varying density and gravity have been traced in four classes on Research Methods. In has been found that Educational Research Methodology in the Greek departments of education is ‘legitimized’ though the codes of frequentist statistics and psychological research. Ideal ‘knowers’ in the field are ‘legitimized’ through their epistemic ‘cultivated gaze’

    Abstract: This paper investigates which sustainability accounting tools are applied in corporate practice. Although a multitude of tools can be identified in academic literature and practitioner handbooks, comparatively little is known about which of these sustainability accounting tools are known and applied by companies. The awareness and application of such tools is considered to be inevitable to implement corporate sustainability. Drawing on a comparative survey among large German companies, this paper reveals a growing importance of integrated sustainability accounting tools as well as of specific performance management tools. Based on the survey results, this paper discusses the application of sustainability accounting tools with regard to their function to provide information for managerial decision making and corporate communication. Furthermore, it identifies gaps for future research

    La universidad y la emancipación histórica del sujeto racional en la ética de la postmodernidad

    En el marco del surgimiento de la Teoría Crítica de la postmodernidad, como corriente de pensamiento relacionada con los problemas educativos, el propósito del presente trabajo documental y de carácter descriptivo consiste, precisamente, en reflexionar acerca de la integración del discurso pedagógico, como variable nuclear, en la comprensión de la Universidad Pedagógica: institución formadora y transformadora del sujeto crítico, a partir de una cuestionable postmodernidad ‘crítica’. Por ello, la formación de un ser pensante-crítico representa un punto importante en el debate epistemológico, ontológico y ético. De allí la necesidad de formar un docente que responda a la Historia alternativamente ante el paradigma postmodernidad-capitalización, que enmarca un nuevo concepto de razón pedagógica que ya no podrá dejarsedesplazar por una cultura académica que contribuya a alejar a la universidad de los espacios transformativos. En conclusión, la Universidad Pedagógica debe invitar a la revisión de la educación del sujeto histórico para la construcción del pedagogo crítico y reflexivo sobre su ethos cultural, donde el conocimiento de lo regional es la entrada a la universalidad del docente histórico. The university and the historical emancipation of the rational subject within a postmodern ethics Abstract Framed by the postmodern critical theory, as a perspective linked to educational problems, the article examines the integration of the pedagogical discourse, as a nuclear variable, to the pedagogical university, a forming and transforming institution of the critical subject from a questionable postmodern “critique”. Using an archival and descriptive approach, the formation of the thinking-critical subject is discussed as an important aspect in epistemological, ontological and ethical debates. From this point of view there rises the need to train teachers as subjects able to respond to History from an alternative paradigm to that of post modernity-capitalization. Such teacher will not drift from an academic culture preoccupied with transformative spaces. The conclusion points to a role of the pedagogical university in which it must promote a revision of the historical subject's education in order to build a critical pedagogue able to reflect upon his/her cultural ethos as the means for incorporating the regional to the universality of the historical teacher. Key words: post modernity; teacher instruction; pedagogical discourse

    The feminicide is a new type of qualified murder, previewed by the law No 13.104 of March 9th of 2015, incorporated in the article 121, second paragraph of the Brazilian criminal code, because Brazil occupies the 5º position as a country with the highest index of domestic violence death, as the maps of violences prepared by sociologist an researcher Júlio Jacobo Waiselfisz. The objective is the compheension of this new qualifier with respect to the technical procedures, the research was of bibliographic and documental base.O feminicídio é um novo tipo de homicídio qualificado, previsto pela Lei nº 13.104, de 09 de março de 2015. A sua incorporação no art.121, §2º, do Código Penal brasileiro, ocorreu devido o Brasil ocupar a 5ª posição como um dos países com maior índice de morte de mulheres em decorrência violência doméstica, conforme o Mapa da Violência: Homicídio de Mulheres 2015, elaborado pelo sociólogo e pesquisador Júlio Jacobo Waiselfisz. O objetivo desta pesquisa qualitativa é compreender esta nova qualificadora.     O homicídio qualificado pelo feminicídio é considerado como um crime proveniente da sociedade patriarcalista, pelo fato da mulher ser considerada apenas um objeto de posse masculina, no qual o homem torna-se o detentor do direito de vida ou morte de sua parceira nos momentos de brigas intimas. O objetivo desta pesquisa qualitativa é compreender sobre a influência do patriarcalismo na prática do crime de homicídio doloso contra as mulheres. Por isso utilizou-se a pesquisa bibliográfica e analítica para conhecer o patriarcalismo e a sua influência na prática da violência doméstica, em especial nas mortes femininas praticadas por seus parceiros íntimos.
