Variance components and genetics parameters estimation for birth weight to the 196-days in Santa Inês sheep using multiple-trast model. Abstract: The study was carried out with the objective to stimate the variance components and genetics parameters for birth weights 56, 112 and 196-day in Santa Inês sheep using multiple-trast animal model. The molysis model includes the direct additive and maternal genetic effect and permanent maternal environmental effect. The fixed effects used in molysis were the contemporary group and age of dam lombing, as (co)varience. The estimate direct heritability for the weights at the birth, 56, 112 and 196 days of age were 0,17, 0,05, 0,08 and 0,10 respectively. The found results indicate that the genetic gain obtained through individual selection it will be small. The maternal effect presented influence on the weights studied

The compounds were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, elemental analysis and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR). They were heterogenized on commercially available activated carbon (AC) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNT), as well as on their chemically modified analogues. The obtained materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Complex 3 supported on activated carbon (3-AC) was found to be an active and recyclable catalyst for the cyanosilylation of several aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes. Using 3-AC with a low loading of 0.1 mol% several substrates were quantitatively converted, within just 5 min at 50 °C and under microwave irradiation in solvent-free conditions. Multinuclear NMR analysis suggested a mechanism that potentially involves a double activation process, where the nucleophilic phosphorus at the PTA derivative acts as a Lewis base and the Sn(IV) metal centre as a Lewis acid.publishersversionpublishe

Poly(dimethylsiloxane) as a pre-coating in layer-by-layer films containing phosphotungstate nanoclusters electrochemically sensitive toward s-triazines

One of the major advantages of the Layer-by-Layer (LbL) deposition technique is the possible control of molecular architecture, not only to achieve optimized properties but also to seek synergy among different materials. In this study, LbL films containing nanoclusters of a Keggin type polyoxometalate, phosphotungstic acid (HPW), alternated with the polycation poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH) were deposited on indium-tin oxide (ITO) substrates. The electrochemical properties of the hybrid LbL film investigated in acidic conditions indicated no significant desorption of HPW, when a layer of poly(dimethylsiloxane) terminated with 3-aminopropyl groups (PDMS) was previously deposited on the ITO substrate. Such effect occurred because PDMS prevents desorption of HPW from the hybrid film, as shown by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) analyses. The porous structures of the films were revealed by Fourier transform infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and XPS. PDMS/PAH as a pre-coating allowed the HPW/PAH films to be sensitive to the electrochemical detection of the triazines atrazine and melamine. In conclusion, the precise control of the LbL films architecture is important to develop opportunities for new applications. © 2014 The Royal Society of Chemistry. One of the major advantages of the Layer-by-Layer (LbL) deposition technique is the possible control of molecular architecture, not only to achieve optimized properties but also to seek synergy among different materials. [Comparison of random regression models for the description of the heritability associated with the growth curve of Santa Ines sheep]. Abstract - Polynomial functions of age from different orders were evaluated on the modeling of random effects associated with the growth curve of Santa Ines sheep. The fixed effects included in the analysis were contemporary groups, the age of dam at lambing and the Legendre polynomial of age of order four to represent the average growth curve. On the random part, functions of different orders were considered for modeling the variances associated with direct and maternal additive genetic effects and with direct and maternal permanent environmental effects. The residual variance was fitted by an ordinary polynomial of age of order six. According to the value of the criteria AIC and the likelihood ratio test, a continual function with the orders five, five, seven and three, respectively, for the direct and maternal additive genetic effects and direct and maternal permanent environmental effects (k=5573) was enough for fitting the variance on data. However, according to the value of the criterion BIC, the model with the orders three, three, five and three (k=3353), for the same effects above, provided best fit in the variances, consequently in the heritability estimated. The estimated heritabilities indicate that the selection for weight will result in small genetic gain

The opioid system plays a crucial role in several physiological processes in the CNS and in the periphery. It has also been shown that selective opioid receptor agonists exert potent inhibitory action on pruritus and pain. In this study we examined whether two analogues of Salvinorin A, PR-37 and PR-38, exhibit antipruritic properties in mice
