Grabbing attention while reading website pages: the influence of verbal emotional cues in advertising

    Get PDF
The increasing use of the World Wide Web has promised a huge advertising platform for marketers. Investment in online advertising is growing and is expected to overcome traditional media. However, recent studies have reported that users avoid looking at advertising displayed on the World Wide Web. This study aimed at examining the impact of verbal emotional cues (negative/neutral/positive) to capture attention on website’s advertising areas through an eye tracker system. The results revealed significant statistical differences between fixations to negative, positive words and neutral words. Significant differences between the number of fixations and recognition of the target words were found only for the negative valence words. We conclude that negative emotional words could play a major role on user attention to advertising

The objective of this work was to determine the fatty acid profile of artisanal Minas cheese from seven certified regions in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. A total of 78 samples were collected in regions where the producers were registered by Instituto Mineiro de Agropecuária. For lipid profile determination, different cheese varieties from the following regions were analyzed: Canastra, Serro, Araxá, Serra do Salitre, Triângulo Mineiro, Campo das Vertentes, and Cerrado. The lipid profile of Serra do Salitre and Araxá cheeses  was similar in caproic acid (C6:0), total polyunsaturated fatty acids, and ratio of polyunsaturated and saturated fatty acids. In the other regions, lipid profile differed due to associations with specific fatty acids, such as those of the cheeses from Triângulo Mineiro with C20:5n3, of Cerrado with C20:4n6, of Canastra with C8:0, of Serro with C22:2 and C22:6n3, and of Campo das Vertentes with C17:0, C18:0, and C20:0. The fatty acid profile and nutritional indices related to the lipid profile of artisanal Minas cheeses differ according to the region of origin. The content and profile of omega 3 fatty acids are significant parameters to differentiate artisanal Minas cheeses. Serro artisanal Minas cheese presents superior nutritional indices concerning fatty acid profile than the other studied cheeses

We analyzed the distribution and the arterial vascular arrangement of the mammary papilla (MP) in 45 adult mongrel dogs: 15 multiparous females, 15 nulliparous and 15 males. Our ai consists of comparing the irrigation of mammary papillas in these groups for applications in morphology, reproduction, clinic, surgery (anatomicosurgical segmentation) and correlated areas. The specimens were collected in the Center of Zoonosis of Goiânia, they were injected with latex substance, fixed, and then their mammary complexes were analyzed by dissection and also by radiograph. The irrigation of the mammary papilla was classified in direct terminal (DT), direct continuous (DC) and indirect (I). The irrigation of the terminal direct type predominated in the pairs of antimerous 1 and 3 in the three studied groups, showing higher frequency, and not significant in the pair of mamma 2 in nulíparas, and equivalence in comparison to the type of indirect irrigation in multíparas and males in this exactly pair of mama. The type of indirect irrigation prevailed in the pair of mamma 4 and, in the pair of mamma 5, this model of irrigation was described in 100% of the analyzed cases.

Functional recovery caused by human adipose tissue mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles administered 24 h after stroke in rats

Ischemic stroke is a major cause of death and disability, intensely demanding innovative and accessible therapeutic strategies. Approaches presenting a prolonged period for therapeutic intervention and new treatment administration routes are promising tools for stroke treatment. Here, we evaluated the potential neuroprotective properties of nasally administered human adipose tissue mesenchymal stem cell (hAT-MSC)-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) obtained from healthy individuals who underwent liposuction. After a single intranasal EV (200 µg/kg) administered 24 h after a focal permanent ischemic stroke in rats, a higher number of EVs, improvement of the blood–brain barrier, and re-stabilization of vascularization were observed in the recoverable peri-infarct zone, as well as a significant decrease in infarct volume. In addition, EV treatment recovered long-term motor (front paws symmetry) and behavioral impairment (short- and long-term memory and anxiety-like behavior) induced by ischemic stroke. In line with these findings, our work highlights hAT-MSC-derived EVs as a promising therapeutic strategy for stroke

This study aimed to compare the activity of ants during the rainy and dry seasons in a transitional environment (ecotone) at the interface of Cerrado and Caatinga biomes situated in the state of Piauí, where studies of local ant fauna are still incipient. The research was carried out at Floriano, state of Piauí, Brazil. Ants were sampled during the rainy season in December 2018 and during the dry season in June 2019. Three parallel transects were established at least 100 m apart. At each point, three sampling methods were used, with attractive baits placed on the trees and ground, and pitfall traps on the ground. Thirty-one ant species belonging to 14 genera and five subfamilies were collected, with 27 recorded in the rainy season and 17 in the dry season. The only species reported with the three collection methods and the two seasons was Camponotus crassus Mayr, 1862. Seven ant species sampled in this study are new reports for the state of Piauí. There was a significant difference in the average number of ants and the composition of the assemblages between the rainy and dry seasons. We demonstrate that the activity of ants is influenced by seasonality, corroborating our hypotheses. This is only the second study on ant diversity in the state of Piauí, and more studies are necessary to understand the processes and factors which regulate the activity patterns of ants in ecotonal situations like those observed in this region
