Productive and economic performance of feedlot young Nellore bulls fed whole oilseeds
ABSTRACT The effects of diets containing oilseeds were measured to evaluate the productive and economic parameters in the finishing of young, feedlot Nellore bulls. Twenty-four young Nellore bulls were used, with an initial body weight (BW) of 311.46±0.37 kg and 24 months of age, distributed into individual stalls ( 4 × 20 m) in a completely randomized design, totaling four treatments with six repetitions per treatment. Four diets (control, based on corn and soybean meal, and three diets containing cottonseed, soybean, and sunflower) were evaluated. Feed and orts were measured daily to calculate intake and costs. The dry matter intake of the control group was higher than soybean (10.64 kg/day), cotton (9.88 kg/day), and sunflower (9.30 kg/day) treatments, respectively. The cottonseed treatment showed the highest average neutral detergent fiber intake. There was a dietary effect of diets on average daily gain, total weight gain, and final weight. The soybean treatment showed the highest performance, total gain (232.55 kg), and final weight (544.38 kg). Oilseed intake can modify the fatty acids profile in the meat, decreasing its saturated fatty acid content. Whole soybean seed favors performance, improves feed efficiency, fatty acid profile, and fat distribution in the carcass, and can reduce production costs

Avaliação heurística de jogos educacionais de apoio ao ensino de manutenção de software
Few evaluations have been conducted to evaluate
education games quality on software engineering, as software
maintenance. To characterize the quality of educational games
of support the teaching of software maintenance. For this, we
conducted a heuristic evaluation of the educational games of
support to teaching of software maintenance that are available
in the literature. In general, the SimMS game presented a better
quality compared to the MaintES game. However, it is important
to emphasize that both games presented deficiencies regarding
the educational elements category. The educational games of
support software engineering, as software maintenance, should
be improved to achieve the educational goals proposed by these
tools.Poucas avaliações têm sido conduzidas para

High-resolution abundance analysis of red giants in the metal-poor bulge globular cluster HP 1
Context. The globular cluster HP 1 is projected at only 3 :33 from the Galactic center. Together with its distance, this makes it one of the most central globular clusters in the Milky Way. It has a blue horizontal branch (BHB) and a metallicity of [Fe/H] 1:0. This means that it probably is one of the oldest objects in the Galaxy. Abundance ratios can reveal the nucleosynthesis pattern of the first stars as well as the early chemical enrichment and early formation of stellar populations. Aims. High-resolution spectra obtained for six stars were analyzed to derive the abundances of the light elements C, N, O, Na, and Al, the alpha-elements Mg, Si, Ca, and Ti, and the heavy elements Sr, Y, Zr, Ba, La, and Eu. Methods. High-resolution spectra of six red giants that are confirmed members of the bulge globular cluster HP 1 were obtained with the 8 m VLT UT2-Kueyen telescope with the UVES spectrograph in FLAMES-UVES configuration. The spectroscopic parameter derivation was based on the excitation and ionization equilibrium of Fe i and Fe ii. Results. We confirm a mean metallicity of [Fe/H] = 1:06 0:10, by adding the two stars that were previously analyzed in HP 1. The alpha-elements O and Mg are enhanced by about +0:3 < [O,Mg/Fe] < +0:5 dex, Si is moderately enhanced with +0:15 < [Si/Fe] < +0:35 dex, while Ca and Ti show lower values of 0:04 < [Ca,Ti/Fe]< +0:28 dex. The r-element Eu is also enhanced with [Eu/Fe] +0:4, which together with O and Mg is indicative of early enrichment by type II supernovae. Na and Al are low, but it is unclear if Na- O are anticorrelated. The heavy elements are moderately enhanced, with 0:20 < [La/Fe] < +0:43 dex and 0:0 < [Ba/Fe] < +0:75 dex, which is compatible with r-process formation. The spread in Y, Zr, Ba, and La abundances, on the other hand, appears to be compatible with the spinstar scenario or other additional mechanisms such as the weak r-process
Phenotypic and Molecular Characterization of Brazilian Capsicum Germplasm
Population growth and the high demand for food production has caused environmental degradation losses in biodiversity. The conservation of genetic resources is the most appropriate strategy for maintaining the variability of species of great importance, such as Capsicum. In this study, we describe the characterization of 69 pepper accessions of four Capsicum species from different regions of Brazil on the basis of qualitative and quantitative descriptors and ISSR markers. The 11 quantitative descriptors grouped the 69 populations into five clades. The fruit traits had the greater discrimination power. A strong correlation was detected between some pairs of quantitative descriptors: petiole and fruit length, fruit diameter and fresh fruit mass, leaf length and leaf width, canopy and plant height, stem diameter and plant height, stem diameter and canopy diameter. A negative correlation was also observed between plant height and pericarp thickness. Moreover, the molecular analysis grouped accessions into five clades. The morpho-agronomic and molecular characterization were efficient to estimate the genetic diversity between accessions, being important tools for the knowledge and use of accessions. This study is of great importance to preserve pepper germplasm and to provide data to facilitate the process of the selection in breeding programs

Inferring episodic atmospheric iron fluxes in the Western South Atlantic
Iron (Fe) and other trace elements such as Zn, Mn, Ni and Cu are known as key-factors in marine biogeochemical cycles. It is believed that ocean primary productivity blooms in iron deficient regions can
be triggered by iron in aeolian dust. Up to now, scarce aerosol elemental composition, based on measurements over sea at the Western South Atlantic (WSA), exist. An association between the Pata-gonian semi-desert dust/Fe and chlorophyll-a variability at the Argentinean continental shelf is essen-tially inferred from models. We present here experimental data of Fe enriched aerosols over the WSA between latitudes 22 Se62 S, during 4 oceanographic campaigns between 2002 and 2005. These data allowed inferring the atmospheric Fe flux onto different latitudinal bands which varied from 30.4 to
