    RESPON PERTUMBUHAN DAN HASIL JAHE MERAH TERHADAP PEMBERIAN NAUNGAN ALAMI PADA TANAH GAMBUT

    Intensitas naungan merupakan aspek lingkungan yang berperan penting bagi tanaman jahe yang perlu diteliti guna meningkatkan produksinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kebutuhan intensitas cahaya yang terbaik dari tanaman naungan terhadap pertumbuhan dan  hasil tanaman jahe merah pada tanah gambut.Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Februari  2019 sampai Juni di Sungai Selamat Pontianak Utara. Rancangan percobaan adalahmenggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK). Analisis keragaman denganuji beda nyata jujur (BNJ) pada tingkat kepercayaan 5%, dengan 5 perlakuan komposisi tanaman naungan, masing-masing perlakuan diulang sebanyak 5 kali, dan setiap ulangan terdiri dari 15 tanaman jahe.Adapun perlakuan tanaman naungan yang dimaksud adalah komposisi naungan tanaman pare. n0= Tanpa naungan, n1= Ditanam 4 tanaman/2m2, n2= Ditanam 6 tanaman/2m2,n3 = Ditanam 8 tanaman/2m2, n4 = Ditanam 10 tanaman/2m2. Variabel pengamatan yang diamati yaitu tinggi tanaman(cm), berat kering tanaman(g), jumlah daun(helai), jumlah anakan per rumpun(tunas) danberat rimpang per rumpun(g).Hasil penelitian menunjukan perlakuan  tanaman naungan  n4  dengan intensitas cahaya 40% pada pertumbuhan meningkatkan tinggi tanaman, berat kering dan berat segar tanaman jahe. Pada hasil perlakuan n0 dengan intensitas cahaya 100% meningkatkan jumlah daun dan berat rimpang. Tanaman jahe merupakan tanaman yang memerlukan naungan pada pertumbuhan dan memerlukan intensitas cahaya yang penuh pada hasil untuk mendapatkan produksi yang baik

    Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan pada bulan September sampai Desember 2019 di kebun percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Andalas Padang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui interaksi terbaik antara dosis pupuk kandang ayam dan jenis mulsa, dosis pupuk kandang ayam terbaik dan jenis mulsa terbaik untuk pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman bawang merah varietas Bima Brebes pada tanah ultisol. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) pola faktorial dengan 3 kelompok. Faktor pertama adalah dosis pupuk kandang ayam yang terdiri dari 3 taraf yaitu 30 ton/ha, 40 ton/ha dan 50 ton/ha. Faktor kedua adalah jenis mulsa yang terdiri dari 2 taraf yaitu mulsa plastik hitam dan mulsa plastik perak. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji F taraf 5%. Jika F hitung lebih besar dari F tabel 5%, dilanjutkan dengan uji lanjut Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) pada taraf nyata 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak terjadi interaksi antara dosis pupuk kandang ayam dengan jenis mulsa terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman bawang merah. Dosis pupuk kandang ayam 40 ton/ha memberikan hasil terbaik untuk variabel jumlah umbi per rumpun, bobot segar tanaman, bobot segar umbi per rumpun, bobot kering umbi per rumpun, bobot segar umbi per petak, bobot kering umbi per petak, bobot segar umbi per hektar, dan bobot kering umbi per hektar. Jenis mulsa plastik perak memberikan hasil terbaik untuk variabel bobot segar umbi per rumpun, bobot kering umbi per rumpun, bobot segar umbi per petak, bobot kering umbi per petak, bobot segar umbi per hektar dan bobot kering umbi per hektar.     Investigating NCE Preservice Candidates and Graduates’ Visual Literacy Practices in Middle and High School Science and Social Studies Classrooms

    The study investigates whether secondary education science and social studies candidates transferred what they learned about visual literacy in their teacher preparation program to their practicum/student teaching classrooms. The study included qualitative and quantitative methods to document the candidates’ visual literacy knowledge and practices. The findings indicate that the candidates did employ visual literacy strategies as visuals had already been regularly used in their classrooms. But, they had limited success in implementing the strategies learned in their methods courses. In addition, they showed a good working knowledge of what visual literacy is and acknowledged its value in the classroom. They also stated that the use of visuals and visual literacy would be integral parts of their teaching in the future

    Produktifitas kerja adalah suatu perilaku yang mempunyai semangat yang tinggi serta usaha dalam mencapai sebuah target yang telah ditentukan, sehingga dapat menghasilkan kualiatas kerja yang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji secara ilmiah hubungan work engagement dengan produktifitas kerja pada karyawan. Sampel penelitian adalah 65 seluruh karyawan sambungan rumah yang bekerja di PT. Generasi Muda Teknik Riau Pekanbaru. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan menggunakan skala work engagement (Schaufeli, Salanova, Gonzales-Roma, dan Bakker, 2002) dan skala produktifitas kerja (Gilmore dan Erich Fromm, 2009). Dalam penelitian ini hipotesis yang diajukan diterima, yaitu terdapat hubungan antara work engagement dengan produktifitas kerja, dilihat dari nilai R sebesar 0.515 dengan signifikansi 0.000. Pada penelitian ini juga ditemukan bahwa nilai yang menunjukkan bahwa work engagement memiliki hubungan yang positif dan signifikan dengan produktifitas kerja pada karyawan sambungan rumah PT. Generasi Muda Teknik Riau Pekanbaru. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa semakin tinggi produktivitas kerja karyawan, maka semakin tinggi work engagement karyawan sambungan rumah PT. Generasi Muda Teknik Riau Pekanbaru.     Vowel Identity between Note Labels Confuses Pitch Identification in Non-Absolute Pitch Possessors

    The simplest and likeliest assumption concerning the cognitive bases of absolute pitch (AP) is that at its origin there is a particularly skilled function which matches the height of the perceived pitch to the verbal label of the musical tone. Since there is no difference in sound frequency resolution between AP and non-AP (NAP) musicians, the hypothesis of the present study is that the failure of NAP musicians in pitch identification relies mainly in an inability to retrieve the correct verbal label to be assigned to the perceived musical note. The primary hypothesis is that, when asked to identify tones, NAP musicians confuse the verbal labels to be attached to the stimulus on the basis of their phonetic content. Data from two AP tests are reported, in which subjects had to respond in the presence or in the absence of visually presented verbal note labels (fixed Do solmization). Results show that NAP musicians confuse more frequently notes having a similar vowel in the note label. They tend to confuse e.g. a 261 Hz tone (Do) more often with Sol than, e.g., with La. As a second goal, we wondered whether this effect is lateralized, i.e. whether one hemisphere is more responsible than the other in the confusion of notes with similar labels. This question was addressed by observing pitch identification during dichotic listening. Results showed that there is a right hemispheric disadvantage, in NAP but not AP musicians, in the retrieval of the verbal label to be assigned to the perceived pitch. The present results indicate that absolute pitch has strong verbal bases, at least from a cognitive point of view

The Midwater Oil Sampler collects multiple 1-L samples of seawater when preset criteria are met. The sampler has a hydrocarbon-free sample path and can be configured with several modules of six glass sample bottles.     Qualitative assessment of contrast-enhanced ultrasound in differentiating clear cell renal cell carcinoma and oncocytoma

    Background: We aimed to assess whether clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) can be differentiated from renal oncocytoma (RO) on a contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS). Methods: Between January 2021 and October 2022, we retrospectively queried and analyzed our prospectively maintained dataset. Renal mass features were scrutinized with conventional ultrasound imaging (CUS) and CEUS. All lesions were confirmed by histopathologic diagnoses after nephron-sparing surgery (NSS). A multivariable analysis was performed to identify the potential predictors of ccRCC. The area under the curve (AUC) was depicted in order to assess the diagnostic accuracy of the multivariable model. Results: A total of 126 renal masses, including 103 (81.7%) ccRCC and 23 (18.3%) RO, matched our inclusion criteria. Among these two groups, we found significant differences in terms of enhancement (homogeneous vs. heterogeneous) (p < 0.001), wash-in (fast vs. synchronous/slow) (p = 0.004), wash-out (fast vs. synchronous/slow) (p = 0.001), and rim-like enhancement (p < 0.001). On the multivariate logistic regression, heterogeneous enhancement (OR: 19.37; p = <0.001) and rim-like enhancement (OR: 3.73; p = 0.049) were independent predictors of ccRCC. Finally, these two variables had an AUC of 82.5% and 75.3%, respectively. Conclusions: Diagnostic imaging for presurgical planning is crucial in the choice of either conservative or radical management. CEUS, with its unique features, revealed its usefulness in differentiating ccRCC from RO

    Leeches as Sensor-bioindicators of River Contamination by PCBs

    The aim of the study was to evaluate the use of leeches of the genus Erpobdella as a means of assessing polychlorinated biphenyl contamination of watercourses. The River Skalice, heavily contaminated with PCBs, was selected as a model. The source of contamination was a road gravel processing factory in Rožmitál pod Třemšínem from which an estimated 1 metric ton of PCBs leaked in 1986. Levels of PCB were measured in leeches collected between 1992 to 2003 from 11 sites covering about 50 km of the river (the first sampling site upstream to the source of contamination and 10 sites downstream). The PCB indicator congeners IUPA no. 28, 52, 101, 118, 138, 153, and 180 were measured. Levels were highest at the four sampling sites nearest the source of pollution. The highest values of PCB congeners were found in 1992. PCB content decreased from 1992 to 2003 and with distance from the source. The study indicated that leeches of the genus Erpobdella are a suitable bioindicator of contamination in the surface layer of river sediments
